Dynamics Of Population Of A Four-level Atom Due To One- And Three-photon Processes
The Schrödinger equation in the rotating-wave approximation has been solved nonperturbatively to study the temporal behavior of the occupation probabilities of different levels of a four-level atom interacting with four arbitrarily intense laser fields, such that the frequency of one of them equals the sum of the other three. The three-photon-excitation population dynamics, which is already complex, is strongly modified by one-photon excitation and detunings. Under certain conditions the three-photon excitation traps the population in the state initially populated; the population starts flowing into other states when one-photon excitation is also operative. © 1984 The American Physical Society.2963264327
Diamagnetism Of Graphite
A calculation of the diamagnetism of graphite including the effects of trigonal warping of the Fermi surfaces has been performed using Fukuyama's formulation of the diamagnetism of Bloch electrons. Inclusion of the trigonal warping increases the diamagnetism by about 13% at low temperatures and reduces it by about 1% at high temperatures. A paramagnetic constant is used to represent all effects not associated with the free carriers. The experimental diamagnetism can be fitted quite well using values of the energy band parameters which give agreement with the de Haas-van Alphen effect, optical absorption, and magnetoreflection experiments. © 1974 The American Physical Society.962467247
Optimal Allocation of Capacitor Bank in Radial Distribution System using Analytical Approach
In this paper, a novel analytical technique is proposed for optimal allocation of shunt capacitor bank in radial distribution system. An objective function is formulated to determine the optimal size, number and location of capacitor bank for real & reactive power loss reduction, voltage profile enhancement and annual cost saving. A new constant, Power Voltage Sensitivity Constant (PVSC), has been proposed here. The value of PVSC constant decides the candidate bus location and size. The achievability of the proposed method has been demonstrated on IEEE-69 bus and real distribution system of Jamawaramgarh, Jaipur city. The obtained results are compared with latest optimization techniques to show the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed technique
Polarized nuclear target based on parahydrogen induced polarization
We discuss a novel concept of a polarized nuclear target for accelerator
fixed-target scattering experiments, which is based on parahydrogen induced
polarization (PHIP). One may be able to reach a 33% free-proton polarization in
the ethane molecule. The potential advantages of such a target include
operation at zero magnetic field, fast (100 Hz) polarization reversal,
and operation with large intensity of an electron beam.Comment: 16 pages, 2 figure
Shape Coexistence in the Relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov approach
The phenomenon of shape coexistence is studied in the Relativistic
Hartree-Bogoliubov framework. Standard relativistic mean-field effective
interactions do not reproduce the ground state properties of neutron-deficient
Pt-Hg-Pb isotopes. It is shown that, in order to consistently describe binding
energies, radii and ground state deformations of these nuclei, effective
interactions have to be constructed which take into account the sizes of
spherical shell gaps.Comment: 19 pages, 8 figures, accepted in Phys. Rev.
Effect of Mill Type on Morphology of AA6013 Aluminium Powder
ABSTRACTIn conventional recycling method, metal chips are cast after pressing and melting in electric arc furnace. Material loss occurs during the recycling from liquid metal due to the several reasons. Direct recycling method which produces the aluminium powder from aluminium chips using mechanical mill can be an alternative to conventional recycling method. Thus material and energy losses, and labour cost will be reduced by direct recycling method without melting. In this study, the particle morphology of powder direct recycled from AA6013 aluminium alloy chips with cryogenic, disc and ball type grinders is investigated. Mechanical milling resulted flaky and irregular shaped AA6013 particles. It was ascertained that the chips did not break sufficiently in despite of the long duration milling mechanisms by ball mill. Cryogenic mill provides the energy required for milling mechanisms to act. Disc mill has the highest impact energy was determined. Consequently, efficiency of ball mill is lower than the efficiency of cryogenic and disc type mills. Shape factors of powders produced with ball and cryogenic mills were found greater than that of the powder produced by disc mill. Disc mill has the most efficient and effective impact energy which produces the smaller particles per minute, was determined. Keywords: Direct recycling method, powder production, scrap chips, aluminium alloy.
Entanglement generation and transfer between remote atomic qubits interacting with squeezed field
A pair of two level atoms A1A2, prepared either in a separable state or in an
entangled state, interacts with a single mode of two mode squeezed cavity field
while a third atomic qubit B interacts with the second mode of the squeezed
field in a remote cavity. We analyze, numerically, the generation, sudden death
and revival of three qubit entanglement as a function of initial entanglement
of qubits A1A2 and degree of squeezing of electromagnetic field. Global
negativity of partially transposed state operator is used to quantify the
entanglement of three atom state. It is found that the initial entanglement of
two mode field as well as that of the pair A1A2, both, contribute to three atom
entanglement. A maximally entangled single excitation Bell pair in first cavity
and two mode field with squeeze parameter s=0.64 are the initial conditions
that optimize the peak value of three qubit mixed state entanglement. A smaller
value of s=0.4 under similar conditions is found to generate a three qubit
mixed state with comparable entanglement dynamics free from entanglement sudden
death.Comment: 14 pages, 7 figures, sections III and IV merged with section II and
