Transverse Spin Structure of the Nucleon from COMPASS

The measurement of transverse spin effects in semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering is an important part of the COMPASS physics program. In the years 2002-2004 data were taken by scattering a 160 GeV muon beam on a transversely polarized deuteron target. In 2007, additional data were collected on a transversely polarized proton target. New results for the Collins and Sivers asymmetries from the analysis of the proton data are presented.Comment: Proceedings of QCD08, Montpellier, July 200

Abstract About distributors can be stated that up to now there has not been speci cally regulated provisions regarding distributors. The provisions regarding agency and distributor tend to be regulated in various regulations, which do not clearly distinguish the position, duties and functions between the agent and distributor. In order to create a conducive climate in the eld of economic activity, especially marketing activities, it is necessary to speci cally regulate everything related to agency and distributor activities by providing a difference between agents and distributors.     Keywords: speci cally regulated; agency and distributor; marketing activities

Abstract   The issue of upholding the rule of law is a chore that must be resolved by the current government. The state and nation have been disadvantaged from all aspects, because in the end the harassment of the law has given rise  to corruption, collusion and nepotism. One of the things that stands out about law enforcement is the issue of detention and suspension of detention and sentencing that has to do with detention. The problem of detention and the detention in practice so far has been widely distorted by unscrupulous law enforcers and this institution has become an "open business arena". Detention and suspension of detention is actually a legal effort, which aims to realize the enforcement of the law itself, because detention is only allowed as long as there is suf cient preliminary evidence, and detention is solely in order to facilitate investigation / examination and besides that detention is also intended as protecting the suspect / defendant from violence / other people (eigenrichting).   The suspension of detention should be able to be given to every suspect / defendant who provides guarantees according to the law, unless otherwise speci ed in certain cases. In addition there is another side of the Criminal Procedure Code which determines that detention is part of punishment, so it has become a habit in practice that if a suspect / defendant who was originally detained "must be sentenced" .From the facts that are decomposed in the past this has brought a a very dif cult situation to nd out who really deserves detention or suspended detention and it turns out everyone is nally able to pay "anything" to release himself from the snare of detention even though it should not be his right.   Keywords: rule of law; corruption, collusion, and nepotism; legal effort. &nbsp

PANCASILA SEBAGAI DASAR FALSAFAH PAJAK DI INDONESIA

Abstract It has become a national consensus that the Pancasila is the basic philosophy of the state and nation of Indonesia, which underlies all actions and deeds in the life of the state and society. Through TAP MPRS No. XX / MPRS / 1966 it has been established that Pancasila is the source of all sources of law in Indonesia. The consequence is that any existing laws and regulations must be based and must not con ict with Pancasila, including taxation.   Keywords: national consensus; Pancasila; tax; laws and regulations

Measurement of the longitudinal spin structure of the proton by COMPASS

The inclusive A_1,p and hadron double-spin asymmetries A_p^pi+, A_p^pi-, A_p^K+, A_p^K- measured at COMPASS (CERN SPS) in deep-inelastic scattering of a polarized muon beam off a polarized NH_3 solid target are presented. The results have been obtained with the full statistics collected in 2007 for the longitudinal target polarization. Proton asymmetries have been combined with the published deuteron ones. An evaluation of the non-singlet spin-dependent structure function g_1^NS(x,Q^2) and its first moment, which confirms the validity of the Bjorken sum-rule, is presented. A LO evaluation of polarized quark densities is also presented. The use of the proton data allows to perform a full flavor separation and to extract individual helicity densities of u, d, anti-u, anti-d and s quarks. All sea quark densities are found to be compatible with zero in the full range of the measurements.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures, presented at the 3rd joint International HADRON STRUCTURE '09 Conference, Tatranska Strba (Slovak Republic

    Transversity Measurements at COMPASS

The measurement of transverse spin effects in semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering is an important part of the COMPASS physics program. From the analysis of the 2002-2004 data, new results for the transverse target spin asymmetry of z-ordered identified pion and kaon pairs are presented. In addition, a first result for the transverse target spin asymmetry of exclusively produced rho^0 mesons on the deuteron is shown.Comment: Proceedings of Photon07, Paris, 200

Radiative corrections to real and virtual muon Compton scattering revisited

We calculate in closed analytical form the one-photon loop radiative corrections to muon Compton scattering μγμγ\mu^- \gamma \to \mu^- \gamma . Ultraviolet and infrared divergencies are both treated in dimensional regularization. Infrared finiteness of the (virtual) radiative corrections is achieved (in the standard way) by including soft photon radiation below an energy cut-off λ\lambda. We find that the anomalous magnetic moment α/2π\alpha/2\pi provides only a very small portion of the full radiative corrections. Furthermore, we extend our calculation of radiative corrections to the muon-nucleus bremsstrahlung process (or virtual muon Compton scattering μγ0μγ\mu^-\gamma_0^* \to \mu^- \gamma ). These results are particularly relevant for analyzing the COMPASS experiment at CERN in which muon-nucleus bremsstrahlung serves to calibrate the Primakoff scattering of high-energy pions off a heavy nucleus with the aim of measuring the pion electric and magnetic polarizabilities. We find agreement with an earlier calculation of these radiative corrections based on a different method.Comment: 20 pages, 10 figure, to be published in Nuclear Physics

Implementation of mean-timing and subsequent logic functions on an FPGA

This article describes the implementation of a mean-timer and coincidence logic on a Virtex-5 FPGA for trigger purposes in a particle physics experiment. The novel feature is that the mean-timing and the coincidence logic are not synchronized with a clock which allows for a higher resolution of approximately 400 ps, not limited by a clock frequency.Comment: 15 pages, 11 figure

The Fast Read-out System for the MAPMTs of COMPASS RICH-1

A fast readout system for the upgrade of the COMPASS RICH detector has been developed and successfully used for data taking in 2006 and 2007. The new readout system for the multi-anode PMTs in the central part of the photon detector of the RICH is based on the high-sensitivity MAD4 preamplifier-discriminator and the dead-time free F1-TDC chip characterized by high-resolution. The readout electronics has been designed taking into account the high photon flux in the central part of the detector and the requirement to run at high trigger rates of up to 100 kHz with negligible dead-time. The system is designed as a very compact setup and is mounted directly behind the multi-anode photomultipliers. The data are digitized on the frontend boards and transferred via optical links to the readout system. The read-out electronics system is described in detail together with its measured performances.Comment: Proceeding of RICH2007 Conference, Trieste, Oct. 2007. v2: minor change

Background studies and shielding effects for the TPC detector of the CAST experiment

    Get PDF
Sunset solar axions traversing the intense magnetic field of the CERN Axion Solar Telescope (CAST) experiment may be detected in a Time Projection Chamber (TPC) detector, as X-rays signals. These signals could be masked, however, by the inhomogeneous background of materials in the experimental site. A detailed analysis, based on the detector characteristics, the background radiation at the CAST site, simulations and experimental results, has allowed us to design a shielding which reduces the background level by a factor of ~4 compared to the detector without shielding, depending on its position, in the energy range between 1 and 10 keV. Moreover, this shielding has improved the homogeneity of background measured by the TPC.Comment: 14 pages, 5 figures, accepted in New Journal of Physic
