Effect of Activated Charcoal and Composition Activator Acid Sulphate on Palm Oil Waste Water Treatment
Purpose of this research is to exploit the shell and palm fiber become the active charcoal, by looking at the influence of the ratio mixture composition and effect of activator. this Active charcoal application as adsorbent to the liquid waste of crude palm oil. Initial treatment, shells and palm fiber dried first at a temperature of 1200C and carbonized. charcoal mix shell and palm fiber activation chemically with a solution of H2SO4 by way of immersed in the solution for 24 hours. The best quality activated charcoal obtained from the comparison of the 75% shell, 25% palm fiber with activator H2SO4 that has a yield of 95.94%, 4.9% moisture content, ash content 6.13%, iodine number 916.594 mg / g. Activated charcoal mixture palm shell and palm fiber can be used as adsorbent liquid waste CPO, which is indicated by a decline in these parameters in the waste water contaminants in CPO, which is a 7.49 pH of 9, TSS of 660 ppm to 325 ppm,COD becomes 237,12 mg/L from1577.60 mg/L
Strategy of Nannochloropsis Against Environment Starvation: Population Density and Crude Lipid Contents
Nannochloropsis sp., an unicellular marine microalgae, has potential function as a food source for fish larvae and in chemical industry. Microenvironmental conditions, especially nitrogen and salinity stress in marine ecosystems, became major factor affecting the growth of Nannochloropsis sp.The aim of the experiment was to study effect of different salinities and nitrogen dosages to the growth and lipid contents of Nannochloropsis sp. cells.The experiment was arranged in factorial with three replicates. The first factor was salinity (28 ppt and 38 ppt), and the second factor was nitrogen dosage (100% and 50%). Results of the experiments indicated that nitrogen starvation and high saline concentration affected cell density of Nannochloropsis sp. in different level. The results showed that combination treatments of nitrogen starvation and salinity reduced cell density (treatmant A, B, and D), except in treatment C. Combination of high salinity and high N dosages resulted ini steady growth of Nannochloropsis sp. These results suggest that Nannochloropsis sp. are able to overcome salinity stress (38 ppt) in the presence of optimum concentration of nitrogen in the growth cultures.The results also shows that there were no significant differences of crude lipid content between treatments and no correlation between population density and crude lipid content. These results suggest that no simple correlation between population density and crude lipid concentration. On the other hand, population density was not the only factor affected crude lipid concentration in the microalgae cell
Music listening and cognitive abilities in 10 and 11 year-olds: The Blur effect
The spatial abilities of a large sample of 10- and 11-year-olds were tested after they listened to contemporary pop music, music composed by Mozart, or a discussion about the present experiment. After being assigned at random to one of the three listening experiences, each child completed two tests of spatial abilities. Performance on one of the tests (square completion) did not differ as a function of the listening experience, but performance on the other test (paper folding) was superior for children who listened to popular music compared to the other two groups. These findings are consistent with the view that positive benefits of music listening on cognitive abilities are most likely to be evident when the music is enjoyed by the listener
Forecasting wind speed data by using a combination of ARIMA model with single exponential smoothing
Wind serves as natural resources as the solution to minimize global warming and has been commonly used to produce electricity. Because of their uncontrollable wind characteristics, wind speed forecasting is considered one of the best challenges in developing power generation. The Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA), Simple Exponential Smoothing (SES) and a hybrid model combination of ARIMA and SES will be used in this study to predict the wind speed. The mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) and the root mean square error (RMSE) are used as measurement of efficiency. The hybrid model provides a positive outcome for predicting wind speed compare to the single model of ARIMA and SES
Formulation of Liquorice Root Extract (Glycyrrhiza Glabra L.) as Skin Whitening Cream
Liquorice root extract (Glycyrrhiza glabra L.) contains glabridin, an isoflavane as inhibitors of tyrosinase. This enzyme is responsible in melanin synthesis. The aim of this research was to determine the tyrosinase inhibition activity of liquorice root extract and to formulate into a cream with a variety of emulsifier agent glyceryl monostearate. Liquorice root was macerated using ethanol 96%, invitro tyrosinase inhibition assay was conducted using kojic acid as positive control in 96-well plate. The physical quality parameters of the cream were also evaluated. The results showed that liquorice root extract inhibits tyrosinase with the IC50 126.75 µg/mL. Creams containing 1.01% liquorice root extract were yellowish white, aromatics odour, soft texture, homogen and no segregation in O/W emulsion type. It also showed plastic thixotropic rheological property, viscosity of (2800±0.00) – (4000±0.00) Ps, spreadability of (3029.72±0.81) – (3531.79±6.15)mm2, droplet size of (60.00±0.00) – (65.12±0.01)μm, pH of (4.55±0.03)–(4.63±0.04) and inhibited tyrosinase 10.14 - 19.30%. It can be concluded that the formula with 0.1% of glyceryl monostearate was the best formula that conforms physical quality test and potentially to be developed as a skin whitening cream

Keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja merupakan rangkaian USAha untuk menciptakan suasana kerjayang aman dan tentram serta terhindar dari penyakit akibat kerja ataupun kecelakaan kerja bagi parapekerja yang bekerja di Perusahaan yang bersangkutan, bedasarkan survei Departemen KesehatanRI masalah kesehatan tahun 2005 menunjukkan bahwa sekitar 40,5% penyakit yang diderita pekerjaberhubungan dengan pekerjaannya.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan usia,beban kerja dan durasi dengan keluhanmuskuloskeletal .Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain cross sectionalPenelitian ini dilakukan pada tanggal 21 Juli 2016 – 2 Agustus 2016. Populasi pada penelitian inisebanyak 47 pekerja pemanen kelapa sawit dan sampelnya sebanyak 47 pekerja, Teknikpengambilan sampel menggunakan total sampling, dimana penelitian ini dilakukan denganmenggunakan kuesioner dengan cara wawancara, dan dianalisis menggunakan univariat dan bivariatHo di tolak jika p-value < 0,05.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan bermakna antara usia dengan keluhanmuskuloskeletal pada pekerja pemanen kelapa sawit dengan nilai p-value 0,023 ,ada hubunganbermakna antara beban kerja dengan keluhan muskuloskeletal pada pekerja pemanen kelapa sawitdengan p-value 0,002, dan tidak ada hubungan bermakna antara durasi dengan keluhanmuskuloskeletal dengan p-value 0,772.Terdapat hubungan usia dan beban kerja dengan keluhan muskuloskeletal pada pekerja pemanenkelapa sawit di desa Rantau Rasau Kecamatan Rantau Rasau Kabupaten Tanjung Jabung Timur,Disarankan agar Puskesmas Rantau-Rasau membuat kebijakan program keselamatan dankesehatan kerja untuk para pekerja pemanen kelapa sawit
