    Neural network modeling of convection heat transfer coefficient for the casson nanofluid

    This paper presents applications of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to develop a mathematical model of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow and heat transfer in a Casson nanofluid. The model equations are solved numerically by Runge-Kutta Fehlberg method with shooting technique. In the developing ANN model, the performance of the various configuration were compared with various types of errors such as Mean Square Error (MSE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE) and Sum Square Error (SSE). The best ANN configuration incorporated two hidden layers with twenty five neurons in each hidden layer was able to construct convective heat transfer coefficients with MSE, MAE and SSE of 0.006346, 0.009813 and 1.015423%, respectively, and had R² of 0.741516. A good co-relation has been obtained between the predicted results and the numerical values.Publisher's Versio

    Therapeutic evaluation of homeopathic treatment for canine oral papillomatosis

    Aim: A study was conducted to evaluate the ameliorative potential of homeopathic drugs in combination (Sulfur 30C, Thuja 30C, Graphites 30C, and Psorinum 30C) in 16 dogs affected with oral papillomatosis which was not undergone any previous treatment. Materials and Methods: Dogs affected with oral papillomatosis, which have not undergone any initial treatment and fed with a regular diet. Dogs (total=16) were randomly divided into two groups, namely, homeopathic treatment group (n=8) and placebo control group (n=8). Random number table was used for allocation. Homeopathic combination of drugs and placebo drug (distilled water) was administered orally twice daily for 15 days. Clinical evaluation in both groups of dogs was performed by the same investigator throughout the period of study (12 months). Dogs were clinically scored for oral lesions on days 0, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, and 150 after initiation of treatment. Results: The homeopathic treatment group showed early recovery with a significant reduction in oral lesions reflected by clinical score (p<0.001) in comparison to placebo-treated group. Oral papillomatous lesions regressed in the homeopathic group between 7 and 15 days, whereas regression of papilloma in the placebo group occurred between 90 and 150 days. The homeopathic treated group was observed for 12 months post-treatment period and no recurrence of oral papilloma was observed. Conclusion: The current study proves that the combination of homeopathy drugs aids in fastening the regression of canine oral papilloma and proved to be safe and cost-effective

    Cold-Formed steel built-up columns are commonly used as compression member in the industrial roof and long span bridge structures to carry larger load. To improve the strength and stiffness of the cold-formed section, the built-up column with additional stiffeners and lacings are used. This paper reports the results of experimental tests conducted on built-up cold-formed columns, composed with the combination of intermediate and closer stiffeners with pin-ended condition under axial compression. Totally twelve columns with or without intermediate and closer stiffeners were tested to failure. The experimental results aim to quantify the effect of cross-section, intermediate and closer stiffener on the overall performance, including strength, strain and failure modes for the built-up column. The Finite element model was developed by ANSYS software and the model is validated with the experimental results. The built-up column strength predicated by recommended design equations of American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) exhibited good agreement with the ultimate load of built-up columns obtained both by experimental and numerical. Based on this study a recommendation is proposed to DSM for the CFS built -up columns with intermediate and closer stiffeners

    ANGIOTENSIN CONVERTING ENZYME INHIBITION POTENTIAL OF ANNAPAVALA CHENDHURAM FOR THE TREATMENT OF HYPERTENSION - AN IN–VITRO ASSAY

    Hypertension is that the most noteworthy risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and stroke. Dietary and lifestyle&nbsp;changes play the foremost part to decrease the hazard of hypertension and other related wellbeing complications. Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) inhibitors play a major role in treating hypertension. Annapavala chendhuram is a herbo – mineral Siddha formulation comes under the type of 32 internal medicines of Siddha. Hypolipidemic activity of Annapavala chendhuram has been proven by some research studies. Hence, the purpose of the present study was to evaluate the ACE inhibition activity on Annapavala chendhuram by using an in-vitro assay. The ACE inhibition assay was evaluated by UV Spectrophotometry technique based on the hydrolysis of histidyl-hippuryl-leucine (HHL) by ACE. About 50µL test sample with varying concentration (100- 500 µg/ml) along with standard captopril (100µg/ml) added with 50µL of ACE and some process had continued. The present study indicates that the test drug Annapavala chendhuram was effective in inhibiting the enzyme ACE dose-dependently. Maximum percentage inhibition of about 53.24±8.403% was observed at 500μg/ml when compared to that of the Captopril, a standard ACE enzyme inhibitor agent with the maximum inhibition 86.98 ± 6.375 at the concentration of 100μg/ml. It was concluded that the test drug Annapavala chendhuram possess significant anti-hypertensive property in protein denaturation assay. So, further in-vitro evaluation of ACE inhibitory activity on Siddha herbal preparations and clinical trials will be the need of the hour

    Siddha system of medicine is the eternal science of life. It is a system that has its extensive bonding with Dravidian culture, language and beliefs. The system of medicine mostly prevailed and prospered in the regions of Dravidian cultures by the great Siddhars. It’s unique as one only than other AYUSH traditional systems of medicine across India with its distinctive abundant usage of medicinal plants, metals, minerals and animal products. Siddhars used the steps of Alchemy to prepare various medicines from metallic and mineral origin for attainment elixir and various rare diseases. Siddha medicine is classified into 32 types of internal and external medicine each. Among the 32 types of internal medicine Chendhuram is a medicine shelf life of 75 years usually from herbo-mineral combinations. Arumuga Chendhuram (ARC) is a herbo-mineral formulation cited in Siddha literature ‘Siddha Vaithiya Thirattu’. ARC was orally administered at higher dose 2gm/kg to the Wistar Albino rats in acute toxicity study and during 28 days of repeated (sub acute) toxicity study, at daily doses of 12, 24 &amp; 48mg/kg of body weight to the Wistar Albino rats. Type II collagen arthritis is another model for developing autoimmune arthritis. The immune pathogenesis mediated by T cell and B cell response to collagen. By this model, nearly 100% arthritis can be achieved. In our study, ARC after 42 days treatment reduced the arthritic swelling significantly and degree of inflammation evident to act against auto immune disorder

    Prediction of thermal and energy transport of MHD Sutterby hybrid nanofluid flow with activation energy using Group Method of Data Handling (GMDH)

    The present research work pursues GMDH for predicting thermal and energy transport of 2-D radiative magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow of hybrid Sutterby nanofluid across a moving wedge with activation energy. An exclusive class of nanoparticles SWCNT-Fe(3)O(4 )and MWCNT-Fe3O4 are dispersed into the ethylene glycol as regular fluid. The hybrid nanofluid mathematical model has been written as a system of partial differential equations (PDEs), which are then converted into ordinary differential equations (ODEs) through similarity replacements. Numerical solutions are attained Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg's fourth fifth-order (RKF-45) scheme by adopting the shooting technique. The ranges of diverse sundry parameters used in our study are Hartree parameter 0.1 <= m <= 0.5, magnetic parameter 0.3 <= M <= 1, Deborah number 0.1 <= De <= 1, moving wedge parameter 0.3 <= gamma <= 0.9, Reynolds number 0 <= Re <= 2.5, solid volume fraction of Fe3O4 and CNTs0.005 <= phi(1) <= 0.1,0.005 <= phi(2) <= 0.06, Browanian motion 0.1 <= Nb <= 0.4, thermophoresis parameter 0.1 <= Nt <= 0.25, Eckeret number 0.05 <= Ec <= 1, radiation parameter 1 <= R-d <= 2.5, Lewis number 0.5 <= Le <= 1.5, chemical reaction rate 0.1 <= sigma <= 0.7, heat source parameter, 0 <= delta <= 1.5 and activation energy 1 <= E <= 4 which shows up during the speed, thermal, and focus for Fe3O4/C2H6O2 nanofluid and CNTs-Fe3O4/C2H6O2 hybrid nanofluid. Additionally, the friction coefficient (C-fx), rate of heat transport (H-tx), and rate of nanoparticle transport (Nt(x) are calculated using GMDH. The numerical results for the current analysis are illustrated via tables, graphs, and contour plots. The efficiency of the proposed GMDH models is assessed using statistical measures such as MSE, MAE, RMSE, R, Error mean and Error StD. The predicted values are very close to the numerical results, and the coefficient of determination R-2 of C-fx,N-tx, and H-tx are 1, 0.97836 and 0.9960, respectively, which shows the best settlement

    ABSTRACT A series of substituted pyridinyl 1, 3, 4 oxadiazole derivatives were synthesized from Schiff bases of nicotinic acid derivatives through chlorination followed by reaction with hydrazine hydrate and with the use various aldehydes. The synthesized compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1 H NMR and Mass Spectra. All the compounds were screened for in vitro antioxidant activity by DPPH and Nitric oxide scavenging assay. Compounds substituted with electron donating groups like methoxy and hydroxyl showed higher antioxidant activity

    Species Discrimination, Population Structure and Linkage Disequilibrium in Eucalyptus camaldulensis and Eucalyptus tereticornis Using SSR Markers

    Eucalyptus camaldulensis and E. tereticornis are closely related species commonly cultivated for pulp wood in many tropical countries including India. Understanding the genetic structure and linkage disequilibrium (LD) existing in these species is essential for the improvement of industrially important traits. Our goal was to evaluate the use of simple sequence repeat (SSR) loci for species discrimination, population structure and LD analysis in these species. Investigations were carried out with the most common alleles in 93 accessions belonging to these two species using 62 SSR markers through cross amplification. The polymorphic information content (PIC) ranged from 0.44 to 0.93 and 0.36 to 0.93 in E. camaldulensis and E. tereticornis respectively. A clear delineation between the two species was evident based on the analysis of population structure and species-specific alleles. Significant genotypic LD was found in E. camaldulensis, wherein out of 135 significant pairs, 17 pairs showed r2≥0.1. Similarly, in E. tereticornis, out of 136 significant pairs, 18 pairs showed r2≥0.1. The extent of LD decayed rapidly showing the significance of association analyses in eucalypts with higher resolution markers. The availability of whole genome sequence for E. grandis and the synteny and co-linearity in the genome of eucalypts, will allow genome-wide genotyping using microsatellites or single nucleotide polymorphims
