    Get PDF
“We all have something to learn and something to share” is the motto of this project, through which we aim to assess the impact of a multilingual platform which combines and makes the most of the potentials of digital environments and favours inclusion, in the co-construction of knowledge in learning/practice, in employability, entrepreneurism and innovation. In this article we will introduce an ongoing project which is founded on the principle of openness to the research community. Its philosophy is Online Scientific Volunteering for the co-construction of knowledge about learning best practices. The platform that will emerge from the project will be open access. The academic community, whether national or international, can contribute with content and knowledge to the platform, through interaction and discussions around relevant and emerging topics. The community may also exploit, without encumbrance, the contents of the platform for their own benefit. This way students and scientific expertise can share in a common knowledge space, and together build a comprehensive knowledge base.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Vanguarda Socialista, a newspaper edited by Mário Pedrosa in Rio de Janeiro from 1945 to 1948 elaborates a socialist and democratic political proposal as an alternative to the bolshevik conception, which was believed surpassed by history. The "Russian question" lies thus at the center of the group's preoccupations. This paper tries not only to analyse the newspaper's explanation for the origins of bureaucracy in the USSR, bringing to light the contradictions which run through it, but also to establish the group's affiliation to Rosa Luxemburg's ideas, in the attempt to clarify those contradictions.

The curricular guidelines for the ICT subject matter, proposed by the CRIE (Computadores, Rede e Internet na Escola), team, in September 2006, point to a reflected and participated construction of interdisciplinary classroom projects, involving teachers of different subject matters . This approach is seen as an important step towards the expected ICT integration in school. Thus, the aim of this study, carried out in 2008/09, was to understand how the ICT subject matter (at the time, one of the subjects of the 9th school year), can contribute to educational change, namely concerning teachers´ educational practices, and to the integrated use of technologies in educational context. The adopted methodology was predominantly qualitative and exploratory, having a case study nature. The study was developed in a school in the Aveiro region and the data gathering techniques included inquiry by questionnaire, documental analysis and direct observation. The results evidenced that the teachers involved in the study were motivated to develop interdisciplinary projects, but disclosed difficulties concerning the integration of ICT in educational context. The main identified barriers include lack of collaborative work, amongst teachers, due to lack of time and lack of ICT skills that hinder the expected ICT integration and changes. Moreover, evidences showed that the interdisciplinary approach, proposed by the curricular guidelines, can promote the integration of ICT in education when grounded in project based curricular methodologies. The approach can potentially induce changes in educational practices, as referred in the literature.--Keywords: Elementary education; ICT integration; educational practices; project-based learning; Information Society.--Para citar este texto:Barbosa, I., & Loureiro, M. Matemática e recursos educativos digitais: um estudo sobre as repercussões no ensino e na aprendizagem no 1º CEB

    Get PDF

Municipal Waste Map: a Case Study of Guimarães, Portugal

    Get PDF
Guimarães is located in the north of Portugal, is a middle size town, which historic centre is UNESCO World Heritage. The city was also European Cultural Capital by 2012 and in 2013 was European City of Sports. Currently, is running for European Green Capital 2020, being the Waste Production and Management (WPM) one of the strategic guideline. Taking into account the WPM policy and the city goals, a Municipality Strategic Waste Plan (2016-2025) (SWP), will be done. Guimarães is considered to be a “diffuse territory”, as it encompasses land use and economic activity development, leading to different scenarios. It is also important to notice that 1/3 of the Guimarães population is located on the urban area. Under this context, the WPM across the Municipality will be directly affected by specific features of the urban population, and the correlation between several other variables shall be considered in a holistic approach comprising waste production characterization, land use, citizens socio demographic aspects and human resources. This project aims at presenting a first approach to the definition of the SWP, in the form of an integrated Roadmap of waste production, in a multi-disciplinary approach between the land use and the sociodemographic characteristics.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Adolescents’ Empowerment for Mental Health Literacy in School: A Pilot Study on ProLiSMental Psychoeducational Intervention

    Get PDF
Adolescence is a critical life phase for mental health and anxiety an emerging challenge for adolescents. Psychoeducational interventions to promote mental health literacy (MHL) on anxiety in adolescents are needed. This study aimed to test the primary outcome of a future full-scale trial: improvement of adolescents’ anxiety MHL components on recognition, prevention strategies, and self-help strategies. A sample of 38 adolescents, 24 (63.2%) females and 14 (36.8%) males, with an average age of 14.50 years (SD = 0.89) participated in this study. Each class was allocated to the intervention group (IG, n = 21) or the waiting list control group (WLCG, n = 17) with single-blinded randomization. MHL was assessed using the QuALiSMental. The ProLiSMental psychoeducational intervention consists of four or eight weekly sessions of 90 or 45 min for adolescents, using different active pedagogical methods and techniques. There also are initial and final sessions with adolescents, legal guardians, and teachers. There was a significant improvement with a small to relatively strong effect size in many dimensions of anxiety MHL components. This study suggests the progression to the full-scale trial and values the important role of mental health and psychiatric nurses in the adolescents’ empowerment for MHL in schools. This work is financially supported by National Funds through FCT—Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P., under the project UIDB/04279/2020

A B S T R A C T – Mental health is essential to community social and economic development. Involving com-munities in the design and development of mental health promotion local plans is a majorchallenge to ensure more and better mental health in each community. From 2009 to 2012 a case study was developed based on the assumptions of a community-based participatory research in an urban community in the metropolitan area of Lisbon, inorder to support the design of a mental health promotion local plan. The result of this partnership, which involved inhabitants and governmental and nongovernmental organizations of the urban community, based on individual and community empowerment of the community and its members, confirmed the need for an active and effective participation of the community in the development of health promotion local policies and concluded by defining six strategic areas of intervention between 2012 and 2015: a school with mental health, an active and safe community, a supportive and inclusive community, a community aware, an organization promoting economic and work mental health, a seniority mentally healthy.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

    Get PDF
Map the interventions/components directed to the caregivers of heart disease patients in cardiac rehabilitation programs that promote their role and health. Methods: The Joanna Briggs Institute method was used to guide this scoping review. Two independent reviewers assessed articles for relevance and extracted and synthesized data. Inclusion criteria comprised articles published in English, Spanish, and Portuguese since 1950. The following databases were searched: CINAHL Complete (Via EBSCO), Medline (via PubMed), Scopus, PEDro, and Repositórios Científicos de Acesso Aberto de Portugal (RCAAP). Results: From 351 articles retrieved, 10 were included in the review. The interventions identified directed to the caregiver were: educational interventions and lifestyle changes; physical exercise; psychological interventions/stress management; and a category “Other” with training interventions in basic life support, elaboration of guidelines/recommendations, and training for the role of caregiver. Conclusions: It was found that most of the related cardiac rehabilitation interventions are aimed at the dyad heart failure patient and their caregivers/family. Including specific interventions targeting caregivers improves the caregiver’s health and empowers them. Patient care planning should include interventions specifically aimed at them that result in health gains for caregivers and patients, striving to improve the quality of care. Using ICT to enhance the online research supervision process

    Get PDF
Online research supervision is a relatively new and evolving process due to changes in university at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. New models of research supervision include different research supervisor and student roles and entail the constitution of online research communities regarding common goals. Even though the potential of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) for shaping the supervision processes is undeniable, literature related to this issue is still scarce. This article presents a case study about the use of ICT to enhance the online research supervision process. ICT was used for content delivery and sharing, and to facilitate the interaction between postgraduate students and a supervisor, as well as between the students. Based on the supervisor’s reflections, key positive and negative factors are also systematised
