To study the political and military functions of ancient eastern and western city-states, the masterpieces should be ancient Luoyang city and ancient Roman city. This article takes Hanwei ancient city and ancient Roman city as examples, reviews the history, and briefly analyzes its political and military functions in ancient times. THE CULTURE OF HELUO IS THE MAIN CULTURE OF CHINESE CIVILIZATION

With the archaeological discoveries of the ancient Heluo Kingdom, Chinese archaeologists' research on Heluo civilization has become a hot topic in the current archaeological community. Animal ethics and contemporary art:an exploration of the intersections between ethics and aesthetics, humans and animals, human and animal injustices

This research provides artistic interventions into the question of institutionalised violence against animals. With a relational and holistic vision in mind, this artistic enquiry explores the intersections between ethics and aesthetics, humans and animals, human and animal injustices. It is dualistic and anthropocentric thinking that underlies both human and animal oppression. A Derridean approach invites us to think about the shared vulnerability among all beings through the presence of the animal other, calling our infinite responsibility towards the animal and dismantling entwined dualisms. With regard and respect, we are encouraged to appreciate the animal as a singular, specific, valuable being, rather than a predetermined, dualistic category. Formally and conceptually informed by contemporary art addressing both human and animal oppression, this enquiry critically reflects on the invisibility of violence towards animals which contributes collective ignorance and indifference to animal suffering. Translating the testimony of animal’s plight into poetic representation, I propose three pieces of large-scale, mixed-media installation works, combining aesthetic elements such as paintings, feathers, fabrics, lights, spaces, and audience experiences to confront the viewer with this question. In so doing, I believe that the poetics of art has the potential of transforming public consciousness of thinking about animals in non-binary and non-instrumental terms

Large-eddy simulation of shock-wave/turbulent boundary layer interaction with and without SparkJet control

The efficiency and mechanism of an active control device "SparkJet" and its application in shock-induced separation control are studied using large-eddy simulation in this paper. The base flow is the interaction of an oblique shock-wave generated by 8° wedge and a spatially-developing Ma = 2.3 turbulent boundary layer. The Reynolds number based on the incoming flow property and the boundary layer displacement thickness at the impinging point without shock-wave is 20000. The detailed numerical approaches were presented. The inflow turbulence was generated using the digital filter method to avoid artificial temporal or streamwise periodicity. The numerical results including velocity profile, Reynolds stress profile, skin friction, and wall pressure were systematically validated against the available wind tunnel particle image velocimetry (PIV) measurements of the same flow condition. Further study on the control of flow separation due to the strong shock-viscous interaction using an active control actuator "SparkJet" was conducted. The single-pulsed characteristic of the device was obtained and compared with the experiment. Both instantaneous and time-averaged flow fields have shown that the jet flow issuing from the actuator cavity enhances the flow mixing inside the boundary layer, making the boundary layer more resistant to flow separation. Skin friction coefficient distribution shows that the separation bubble length is reduced by about 35% with control exerted
