Evaluation of the profile errors in the drugs Infusion through the use of app with Anesthesiologists: An overwiew / Avaliação dos erros de perfil na infusão de medicamentos através do uso de aplicativo com anestesiologistas: uma visão geral

Is has been widely discussed hospital safety and strategies that can be taken to minimize risks in hospital care. Anesthesiology is the only medical class that prescribes, dilutes and administers the drugs. Adding to the high frequency of these administrations creates a scenario conducive to avoidable medical failures. Based on this problem, we identify this particular medical class that has a constant risk of dealing directly with complex situations and whose actions have a direct influence on the outcome of health care. The two main errors associated with medication were: Labels of the same color and size but with different concentrations and the color of the letters printed on the ampules. Finally, human error, delegating medication to third parties. These finding provides new insight about aspects that could importantly interfere with patient safe

Photosynthesis, resource acquisition and growth responses of two biomass crops subjected to water stress

This study compares photosynthesis, growth, 13C and 15N labelling patterns of two biomass crops (Arundo donax L. and Panicum virgatum L.) grown under water stress in greenhouse conditions. Plants were exposed to three water stress levels: control (C, 100% Pot Capacity), mild stress (MS, 50% PC) and severe stress (SS, 25% PC). Photosynthesis, fluorescence parameters and relative water content were measured at the beginning (Ti) and the end of the experiment (Tf). Biomass parameters were measured at Tf. Short-term double labelling with 13C and 15N stable isotopes was performed in both species. Isotopic analyses of total organic matter, total soluble sugars and the CO2 respired were undertaken at T0 (prelabelling), T1 (24h after labelling) and T2 (7 days after labelling). Immediately after the 13C and 15N labelling, stems and rhizomes seemed to be the main sinks for labelled carbon and nitrogen in both species. Moreover, not all of the labelled carbon and nitrogen substrate was used by plant metabolism after seven days. Decreases in photosynthesis parameters were observed as a consequence of the increase in water stress (WS) in both species, with a greater magnitude decline in giant reed than in switchgrass. A decrease in height, number of green leaves and total dry weight due to WS was observed in both species. Both species were more 13C-enriched and more 15N-depleted during the increases in WS due to lower stomatal conductance and transpiration. In general, WS accelerated plant phenology and, consequently, the accumulation of storage compounds in the rhizome occurred in response to stress. This effect was more clearly visible in switchgrass than in giant reed

Palavras- chave: Discurso argumentativo. Contrato comunicativo. Contexto social. Ação e influênci

Text and Construction of Senses: Proposals for Reading and Interpretation

Analysis of inferences in texts, with the objective of demonstrating that the sense, even the literal one, includes implicit informations in the discourse in different degrees. The comprehension/interpretation of these texts indicates operations of inference, what it means that the reader must have attention to the logical questions or to the linguistic sense and to the discursive or argumentative ones in different kinds of texts and that they are important to the construction of the sense of a text. On of the objectives of this paper consists on the presentation of didactic proposals for the teaching of textual reading and interpretation

Acid-sensing ion channels 1a (ASIC1a) inhibit neuromuscular transmission in female mice

Acid-sensing ion channels (ASIC) open in response to extracellular acidosis. ASIC1a, a particular subtype of these channels, has been described to have a postsynaptic distribution in the brain, being involved not only in ischemia and epilepsy, but also in fear and psychiatric pathologies. High-frequency stimulation of skeletal motor nerve terminals (MNTs) can induce presynaptic pH changes in combination with an acidification of the synaptic cleft, known to contribute to muscle fatigue. Here, we studied the role of ASIC1a channels on neuromuscular transmission. We combined a behavioral wire hanging test with electrophysiology, pharmacological, and immunofluorescence techniques to compare wild-type and ASIC1a lacking mice (ASIC1a −/− knockout). Our results showed that 1) ASIC1a −/− female mice were weaker than wild type, presenting shorter times during the wire hanging test; 2) spontaneous neurotransmitter release was reduced by ASIC1a activation, suggesting a presynaptic location of these channels at individual MNTs; 3) ASIC1a-mediated effects were emulated by extracellular local application of acid saline solutions (pH = 6.0; HEPES/MES-based solution); and 4) immunofluorescence techniques revealed the presence of ASIC1a antigens on MNTs. These results suggest that ASIC1a channels might be involved in controlling neuromuscular transmission, muscle contraction and fatigue in female mice.Fil: Urbano Suarez, Francisco Jose.
