Social quality and policies for Higher Education in Brazil

Este texto incide numa revisão teórica e numa reflexão acerca de referenciais de qualidade social para as políticas de educação superior brasileira. Discutir a educação superior no âmbito das políticas educacionais no Brasil requer a compreensão do fenómeno educativo em sua totalidade, considerando os mais diversos contextos da vida social e política. Nesse sentido, requer uma reflexão sobre a economia, a política, a cultura, a arte, as questões éticas, filosóficas, científicas, tecnológicas, curriculares, pedagógicas e demais dimensões da vida humana, o que será aqui fundamentado, enfatizando a importância de uma educação superior de qualidade.This text consists of both a theoretical review and a reflection on references about social quality for higher education policies in Brazil. Discussing higher education in the scenery of educational policies in Brazil requires a comprehension of educative phenomenon as a whole, considering the several contexts of social and political life. Accordingly, requires a reflection on economy, politics, culture, art, such as ethical, philosophical, scientific, technological, curricular and pedagogical issues, besides on further dimensions of human life; it will be emphasized the defence of a higher education that is asserted in the centrality of quality proposals with social sense and values

Chemical and microbiological stability of the low caliber apple slices prepared by osmotic dehydration

Osmotic dehydration has received greater attention in recent years as an effective method for fruits and vegetables preservation. Process for preparation of Royal Gala apple slices using osmotic dehydration was standardized. The study was carried out with seleted apples of smaller caliber, produced in the Alcobaça region. For this study apples were seleted by their degree of maturation and absence of mechanical damages. Fully apple fruits were peeled and slices of 4 mm thickness were prepared. The apple slices were immersed in a sucrose solution (50% w/w) and in sucrose/sodium chloride solutions with NaCl concentrations (1% and 3%). After 4 h soaking, quick washing, blotting, the samples where drying at 20 °C up to constant weight. The dried products were packed in glass containers and stored at ambient conditions. The chemical and microbial and stability were monitored for 6 months. The osmo-dried apple slices prepared with 50% sucrose/1% sodium chloride showed an overall chemical acceptability (aw of 0.192; °Brix of 26.3; pH of 3.82; Na content of 0.51g/100g). Microbiologically the product was stable (aerobic mesophile osmotolerant or osmophilic bactéria counts < 2.75 log cfu g-1; fungi counts < 1.75 log cfu g-1) and safe (Clostridium spores and Staphylococcus were not confirmed in this study) up to 6 months of storage at ambient conditions.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Professionalism and teacher professional development in technological education in Brazil

Abordamos questões relativas à profissionalidade e desenvolvimento profissional docente, enquadradas numa investigação realizada no âmbito do doutoramento em Ciências da Educação, na Universidade do Minho. Um dos objetivos deste estudo centrou-se na análise das relações entre identidade e desenvolvimento profissional de professores, tendo como amostra os docentes de um Curso de Tecnologia em Construção de Edifícios (CSTCE), de um instituto superior tecnológico do Brasil. Os resultados mostram que a profissionalidade e o desenvolvimento profissional dos docentes no CSTCE, se relaciona com a docência do ensino superior, em âmbitos individuais e coletivos, considerando as dimensões pessoais, profissionais e organizacionais.We discuss issues related to professionalism and teacher professional development, framed in a research carried out within the PhD in Educational Sciences, at the University of Minho. One of the objectives of this study was centered in the analysis of the relationship between identity and professional development of teachers, having as a sample the teachers of a Technology Course in Construction of Buildings (CSTCE) of a higher technological institute in Brazil. Humanização do parto e nascimento: os discursos construídos nas teses e dissertações brasileiras

Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Filosofia e Ciências Humanas, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Sociologia Política, Florianópolis, 2014.Este trabalho expõe como o discurso da humanização do parto e nascimento se institucionaliza nas teses e dissertações brasileiras. Para realizar este intento, foram identificadas no Banco de Teses da Capes 379 teses e dissertações que utilizam no resumo, no título ou nas palavras-chaves o termo "humanização" ou expressões correlatas para qualificar a assistência obstétrica e neonatal. Com base em um estudo quantitativo feito em SPSS 17.0, é apresentada uma espécie de mapa da produção sobre humanização do parto e nascimento no país, com a identificação dos principais centros de referência sobre o assunto, o que se pesquisa, quem pesquisa a temática e quando começaram os esforços nesse sentido. Deste banco, foram selecionadas 11 teses e dissertações para um estudo qualitativo das questões decorrentes da temática tendo por base o método arqueológico proposto por Michel Foucault em A Arqueologia do Saber (2005). O resultado é uma descrição integrada que apresenta as modalidades enunciativas, os objetos do discurso e o modo como estas teses e dissertações conceituam a humanização do parto e nascimento. Entende-se que estas pesquisas constituem um saber que se ampara na ciência para legitimar e validar conceitos e práticas que pretendem redefinir e remodelar a assistência obstétrica e neonatal no Brasil

Avaliação da aprendizagem no ensino superior: aspectos históricos

O interesse deste estudo se coloca na dimensão histórica da avaliação da sala de aula, especialmente da avaliação da aprendizagem no ensino superior com o propósito de analisar as repercussões dessa trajetória na prática de avaliação. Para melhor compreensão, sem a intenção de realizar uma revisão sobre a literatura da avaliação escolar, procura-se apenas situá-la, de modo geral, historicamente, para chegar ao contexto universitário, para o quê faz-se uma incursão pela produção científico-acadêmica até os três primeiros anos deste século. Conclui-se que no contexto universitário ainda predominam práticas de avaliação mais tradicionais do que transformadoras e os resultados nefastos do processo de avaliação apontados na pesquisa da década de 1980, são reafirmados nas décadas de 1990 e 2000. Ressalta-se que o tema apresentado é constituinte do capítulo I da Tese de Doutorado defendida no IP\USP com o título: Avaliação da Aprendizagem no Ensino Superior na Perspectiva do Aluno. Palavras-chave: Avaliação da aprendizagem. Phase transformations in an AISI 410S stainless steel observed in directional and laser-induced cooling regimes

The applications of the chromium ferritic stainless steel AISI 410S have been considerably increased in the last years in many technical fields as chemical industries and oil or gas transportation. However, the phase transformation temperatures are, currently, unknown for this alloy. The aim of this work is to determine the alpha to gamma transformation temperatures of the AISI 410S alloy in different cooling conditions and to analyze them using continuous cooling theory. In order to achieve different cooling rates and thermal conditions, two complementary techniques were used: Bridgman furnace crystal growth and laser remelting technique. The measured solidification temperature was around 1730 and 1750 K. Plate-like and dendritic austenite precipitates were obtained in solid-state phase using growth rates between 5 and 10 µm/s in directional growth experiments. Only plate-like austenite phase was observed in the experiments using growth rates above 100 µm/s. The appearance of dendrites, with the consequent segregation of the elements, can be previously determined by the microstructure modeling currently proposed. Massive austenite can be produced from 0.3 to 10 mm/s rates at temperatures between 1100-1300 K. Osteolipoma of the buccal mucosa

Lipomas are benign mesenchymal neoplasms of soft tissue that can be found in any part of the human body. Conversely, their presence in the oral mucosa is rather uncommon, with approximately 4% of the cases occurring in the oral cavity. In such cases, they are likely to have originated from mature adipose tissue and to be among several described histological variants of lipomas, which are identified according to the predominant type of tissue. There is a rare lipoma, known as an osteolipoma or an ossifying lipoma; however, little has been written this type of lipoma characterized by a classical lipoma with areas of osseous metaplasia. Considering the few cases of oral osteolipomas previously described in the English-related literature and the consequent risk of misdiagnosis and overtreatment, this paper describes an extreme case of an osteolipoma affecting the buccal mucosa of an adult patient. This paper focuses particularly on the pathogenesis of this lesion and the discussion of a correct diagnosis

Arte-educação e meio ambiente: apontamentos conceituais a partir de uma experiência de arte-educação e educação ambiental

Este artigo apresenta algumas reflexões desenvolvidas ao longo de um trabalho de arte-educação e meio ambiente realizado no âmbito das ações do IPEH - Instituto de Pesquisas em Ecologia Humana, uma organização social sediada no município de Caieiras, entre 2006 e 2008: (1) "I Seminário de formação de professores em arte-educação ambiental".
