Identification of Market Assets and Relationship Merits as Major Sources of Sustainable Competitive Advantage in the Pacific Market
A variety of papers on relationship marketing have been published in recent years. The issues raised in the second research conference on relationship marketing include channel management, business-to-business marketing, consumer behavior, and marketing strategy (Sheth and Parvatiyar, 1994). But the benefits which can be derived from relationship. marketing have not yet been clearly defined. Who are the relationship partners that are involved in marketing performance? Is it possible to apply the concept of relationship marketing to the study of international marketing? How can we compare U. S. trade policy and Japanese trade policy from the perspective of relationship marketing in Pacific trade
Backbone Can Not be Trained at Once: Rolling Back to Pre-trained Network for Person Re-Identification
In person re-identification (ReID) task, because of its shortage of trainable
dataset, it is common to utilize fine-tuning method using a classification
network pre-trained on a large dataset. However, it is relatively difficult to
sufficiently fine-tune the low-level layers of the network due to the gradient
vanishing problem. In this work, we propose a novel fine-tuning strategy that
allows low-level layers to be sufficiently trained by rolling back the weights
of high-level layers to their initial pre-trained weights. Our strategy
alleviates the problem of gradient vanishing in low-level layers and robustly
trains the low-level layers to fit the ReID dataset, thereby increasing the
performance of ReID tasks. The improved performance of the proposed strategy is
validated via several experiments. Furthermore, without any add-ons such as
pose estimation or segmentation, our strategy exhibits state-of-the-art
performance using only vanilla deep convolutional neural network architecture.Comment: Accepted to AAAI 201
Development of Relationship Marketing
Since the late 1980's, relationship marketing has received significant academic attention focusing on different issues from different perspectives, based on different backgrounds of marketing systems and environments. With the advent of the Internet, the directions and scopes of relationships may have to be shifted toward a new form of marketing network to meet the demand on the part of on-line consumer communities. This paper is to review major transitions of researches in the study of relationship marketing over the last ten years and to suggest a new area of relationship marketing in the on-line and off-line communities
Key Determinants of Customer Success
Customer success, not customer satisfaction, is suggested to
be the key variable to enhance long-term business relationship
with customers. A model of customer success is derived from the
philosophy-structure-behavior-performance paradigm. Value
sharing and information sharing are proved to be critical to
increase the supplier's behavioral orientation for customer
success from the empirical analysis
A Case of a Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformation With Ebstein's Anomaly
A pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM) is a rare pulmonary vascular anomaly presenting as dyspnea or recurrent epistaxis. Ebstein's anomaly (EA), a congenital cardiac malformation, is also a rare condition. There have been no reports concerning the co-existence of PAVM with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT) and EA. A 40-year-old woman was admitted with a 2-month history of increasing dyspnea and several years of recurrent epistaxis. On transthoracic echocardiography, she was diagnosed with EA and agreed to undergo surgical treatment. A chest CT angiography showed a 12-mm serpiginous vascular structure suspicious for a PAVM and a liver CT suggested HTT. Although it is unclear whether or not a concurrent PAVM and EA have an embryologic or genetic relationship, we report a case of a PAVM with EA. Further genetic and embryonic studies are needed to identify a possible relationship of the two medical conditions
N-doped graphitic self-encapsulation for high performance silicon anodes in lithium-ion batteries
N-doped sites at CNT and graphene trigger spontaneous encapsulation of Si particles by simple pH control at room temperature. Significantly, N-doped CNT encapsulated Si composite electrode materials show remarkable cycle life and rate performance in battery operations. Superior capacity retention of 79.4% is obtained after 200 cycles and excellent rate capability of 914 mA h g -1 is observed at a 10 C rate.close13
Efficacious Intermittent Dosing of a Novel JAK2 Inhibitor in Mouse Models of Polycythemia Vera
A high percentage of patients with the myeloproliferative disorder polycythemia vera (PV) harbor a Val617→Phe activating mutation in the Janus kinase 2 (JAK2) gene, and both cell culture and mouse models have established a functional role for this mutation in the development of this disease. We describe the properties of MRLB-11055, a highly potent inhibitor of both the WT and V617F forms of JAK2, that has therapeutic efficacy in erythropoietin (EPO)-driven and JAK2V617F-driven mouse models of PV. In cultured cells, MRLB-11055 blocked proliferation and induced apoptosis in a manner consistent with JAK2 pathway inhibition. MRLB-11055 effectively prevented EPO-induced STAT5 activation in the peripheral blood of acutely dosed mice, and could prevent EPO-induced splenomegaly and erythrocytosis in chronically dosed mice. In a bone marrow reconstituted JAK2V617F-luciferase murine PV model, MRLB-11055 rapidly reduced the burden of JAK2V617F-expressing cells from both the spleen and the bone marrow. Using real-time in vivo imaging, we examined the kinetics of disease regression and resurgence, enabling the development of an intermittent dosing schedule that achieved significant reductions in both erythroid and myeloid populations with minimal impact on lymphoid cells. Our studies provide a rationale for the use of non-continuous treatment to provide optimal therapy for PV patients
Pretransplant malnutrition, inflammation, and atherosclerosis affect cardiovascular outcomes after kidney transplantation

Malnutrition, inflammation, and atherosclerosis (MIA) syndrome is associated with a high mortality rate in patients with end-stage renal disease. However, the clinical relevance of MIA syndrome in kidney transplantation (KT) recipients remains unknown.
Methods
We enrolled 1348 adult KT recipients. Recipients were assessed based on serum albumin, cholesterol, or body mass index for the malnutrition factor and C-reactive protein level for the inflammation factor. Any history of cardiovascular (CV), cerebrovascular, or peripheral vascular disease satisfied the atherosclerosis factor. Each MIA factors were assessed by univariate analysis and we calculated an overall risk score by summing up scores for each independent variable. The enrolled patients were divided into 4 groups depending on the MIA score (0, 2–4, 6, 8–10).
Results
The patients with higher MIA score showed worse outcome of fatal/non-fatal acute coronary syndrome (ACS) (p < 0.001) and composite outcomes of ACS and all-cause mortality (p < 0.001) than with the lower MIA score. In multivariate analysis, ACS showed significantly higher incidence in the MIA score 8-10 group than in the MIA score 0 group (Hazard ratio 6.12 95 % Confidence interval 1.84–20.32 p = 0.003).
Conclusions
The presence of MIA factors before KT is an independent predictor of post-transplant CV outcomes
ADHERE: randomized controlled trial comparing renal function in de novo kidney transplant recipients receiving prolonged-release tacrolimus plus mycophenolate mofetil or sirolimus
ADHERE was a randomized, open-label, Phase IV study comparing renal function at Week 52 postkidney transplant, in patients who received prolongedrelease tacrolimus-based immunosuppressive regimens. On Days 0?27, patients received prolonged-release tacrolimus (initially 0.2 mg/kg/day), corticosteroids, and mycophenolate mofetil (MMF). Patients were randomized on Day 28 to receive either prolonged-release tacrolimus plus MMF (Arm 1) or prolongedrelease tacrolimus (?25% dose reduction on Day 42) plus sirolimus (Arm 2). The primary endpoint was glomerular filtration rate by iohexol clearance (mGFR) at Week 52. Secondary endpoints included eGFR, creatinine clearance (CrCl), efficacy failure (patient withdrawal or graft loss), and patient/graft survival. Tolerability was analyzed. The full-analysis set comprised 569 patients (Arm 1: 287; Arm 2: 282). Week 52 mean mGFR was similar in Arm 1 versus Arm 2 (40.73 vs. 41.75 ml/min/1.73 m2; P = 0.405), as were the secondary endpoints, except composite efficacy failure, which was higher in Arm 2 versus 1 (18.2% vs. 11.5%; P = 0.002) owing to a higher postrandomization withdrawal rate due to adverse events (AEs) (14.4% vs. 5.2%). Results from this study show comparable renal function between arms at Week 52, with fewer AEs leading to study discontinuation with prolonged-release tacrolimus plus MMF (Arm 1) versus lower dose prolonged-release tacrolimus plus sirolimus (Arm 2)
