    In recent years the sensibility of CR-39 to nuclear tracks has been increased by doping the corresponding monomer with dioctyl phtalate. At this regard, two theoretical approaches are current managed to explain this phenomenon: either the doping react with the active radicals in the chain blocking them, stopping crosslinking between chains, or alternatively that the doping gets between them giving wider space between the crosslinkined chains

    New geomorphic criteria on lateral propagation of blind thrust-related fold growth accommodating oblique convergence

    International audienceThe aim of this contribution is to show the styles of growing anticlines and the ways in which they accommodate oblique convergence through proximal foreland basins and intramontane basins. The four natural examples of individual fault-related-folds are: the Chandigarh anticline in the Siwalik foothills of Himalaya (NW India), the Pakuashan anticline in the western foothills of Central Range (Taiwan), the J. Bou Dhar-Tamdafelt fold belt (Morocco) and the Marand anticline in the North-Tabriz Fault-Zone (NW Iran). The evolution of these geomorphic criteria and drainage patterns shows evidence of lateral propagation of folds accommodating oblique convergence. This paper focuses on the geomorphic indicators that could be used to provide information on the timing of fault-related folding and direction of lateral propagation. Several tectonic scenarios has been analysed and an attempt has been made to delineate the sequential evolution of anticlines accommodating oblique convergence

    Definition of Project-Based Learning Models in the Computer Engineering Degree

    [EN] The current characteristics, concerns, preferences, and interests of students differ greatly from the previous students¿ generations. Nowadays, students are increasingly demanding active methodologies that facilitate their learning process. To meet the actual students¿ requirements, academic research is focused on the definition of educational mechanisms that promote greater students¿ participation. Among these mechanisms, the project-based learning (PBL) is a model that organizes learning around projects. Projects are student-driven and provide more tangible results what has been considered as a positive aspect to deepen and retain knowledge. The main objective of this paper is to describe all the activities performed to plan, define, design and project an integrated PBL model for students in the last years (3rd and 4th year students) of the Computer Engineering Degree. The PBL model involves the following subjects: (i) Software Engineering; (ii) Project Management; (ii) Business Requirements Analysis and (iv) Business Models and Organisation Functional Areas. The PBL model has twofold perspectives, the first one is more project and software-directed while the second one is more businessoriented. This model seeks to give continuity to the teaching-learning process so that students can appreciate greater coherence, links, and succession of the contents of different subjects.     Matrix representations of a special polynomial sequence in arbitrary dimension

    This paper provides an insight into different structures of a special polynomial sequence of binomial type in higher dimensions with values in a Clifford algebra. The elements of the special polynomial sequence are homogeneous hypercomplex differentiable (monogenic) functions of different degrees and their matrix representation allows to prove their recursive construction in analogy to the complex power functions.     A simple formalism describing the light response of CsI(Tl) to heavy ions, which quantifies the luminescence and the quenching in terms of the competition between radiative transitions following the carrier trapping at the Tl activator sites and the electron-hole recombination, is proposed. The effect of the delta rays on the scintillation efficiency is for the first time quantitatively included in a fully consistent way. The light output expression depends on four parameters determined by a procedure of global fit to experimental data.Comment: 28 pages, 6 figures, submitted to Nucl. Inst. Meth.

    Multifragmentation process for different mass asymmetry in the entrance channel around the Fermi energy

    The influence of the entrance channel asymmetry upon the fragmentation process is addressed by studying heavy-ion induced reactions around the Fermi energy. The data have been recorded with the INDRA 4pi array. An event selection method called the Principal Component Analysis is presented and discussed. It is applied for the selection of central events and furthermore to multifragmentation of single source events. The selected subsets of data are compared to the Statistical Multifragmentation Model (SMM) to check the equilibrium hypothesis and get the source characteristics. Experimental comparisons show the evidence of a decoupling between thermal and compresional (radial flow) degrees of freedom in such nuclear systems.Comment: 28 pages, 15 figures, article sumitted to Nuclear Physics
