Sources and Methods Used in the Reconstruction of Settlement Networks: An archaeological and geographical perspective on the example of Silesia

The article presents several insights on the sources and methods used in the research of medieval settlement processes using the example of Silesia region. The number and variety of sources (archaeological, written, cartographic) used in the analysis of settlement processes makes it a subject of interest for researchers representing various fields, such as archaeology, history, and historical geography, which have already got their own established research methods. Growing interest in the topic of Late Medieval settlement has prompted an influx of studies on the topic; these are most often interdisciplinary in nature, resulting in articles and monographs published within the last few years, while integrated cooperative studies employing representatives of several different fields are more rare. The works on a dictionary of medieval villages in Silesia, which employed archaeologists, historians, a geographer, and a historical cartographer. The sources described in the article provide specific (though also limited) information on past settlement processes. Archaeological materials, mostly acquired by means of field survey, though by nature chronologically imprecise,  provide data on everyday life of urban and rural residents, their production and the economy (eg.: extraction and processing of raw materials); written sources are important in identifying key information, such as the identification of settlement initiators or the analysis of land ownership relations; likewise, concurrent pieces of mass documentation which enable statistical analysis and comparative analysis, such as land books, inventories of goods, and ledgers, are of fundamental importance to research. Maps of appropriate scale (usually dating to the 18th or 19th century) remain the basic source of information in the geographic analysis of settlement processes. The modern character of the maps means that retrogressive methods are most useful in the reconstruction of the late medieval settlement networks. They help recreate elements of historical natural landscape, as well as traces of settlements and economic activity. Retrogressive methods, successfully employed in historical geography, is based on the assumption that it is possible to make conclusions about an earlier reality based on sources from a later period

Influence of Weld Surface Preparation on a Weld Quality

Import 02/11/2016Cílem diplomové práce bylo zjistit, jaký vliv má příprava svarových ploch různými metodami na kvalitu svarových spojů. Teoretická část diplomové práce popisuje různé metody řezání materiálů, jejich výhody, nevýhody, funkčnost a vlastnosti. Druhá část je zaměřena na správné svařování a nedestruktivní kontrolu svarových spojů. V poslední části diplomové práce jsou provedeny zkoušky svarových spojů, za účelem zjištění vlivu přípravy svarových ploch na kvalitu svarového spoje. Pro experiment byl použit plech jakosti S235JR+N o tloušťce 15 mm. Svařovací parametry byly u všech vzorků stejné, aby nedošlo k nepřesnostem při vyhodnocení jednotlivých zkoušek.The aim of the master thesis was find out which influence have different methods of a preparation of welding edges on quality of welding joints. The theoretical part of master thesis describes a various methods of cutting materials, their advantages, disadvantages, functionality and properties. Second part is focused on the proper welding and non-destructive´s control of welding joints. In the last part of master thesis are performed tests of welding jionts for a purpose to find out an influence of a preparation welding edges on the quality of welding joints. For experiment was used sheetmetal quality S235JR+N and thickness of 15mm. Charging Unit for LiFePO4 Battery Cooperative with Balancing Unit Akumon

Import 26/06/2013Diplomová práce řeší problematiku nabíjení akumulátorových sestav a návrh nabíječe. V první části je proveden přehled základních typů používaných akumulátorů a jejich vlastností a také přehled způsobů jejich nabíjení a balancování. Dále jsou popsány měniče napětí použité při realizaci nabíječe. V následující části jsou na základě požadavků pro nabíjení LiFePO4 akumulátorů navrhnuty balanční sestava a samotný nabíječ. V rámci této diplomové práce byly všechny navrhnuté části také realizovány. Závěr realizační části je věnován měření na realizovaném nabíječi.This thesis addresses the issue of charging the accumulator assemblies and design of the charger. In the first part is a review the basic types of accumulators used and their properties and as well overview of the ways charging and balancing. The following describes the voltage convertors used in the implementation of the charger. In the following section are based on the requirements for charging LiFePO4 accumulators designed balancing group and itself charger. In this thesis was all designed parts also implemented.
