    Myopic inventory policies using individual customer arrival information

    Get PDF
    We investigate optimality of myopic policies using the single-unit decomposition approach in inventory management. We derive, under certain conditions, closed-form replenishment decisions, which we call a base-probability policy. That is, the order associated with a given customer is placed if and only if its arrival probability within the lead-time is higher than a threshold.inventory management; base-stock policies; myopic policies;

    TCC (graduação) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro Sócio Econômico, Administração.O ano de 2020 foi bastante desafiador para pequenas empresas por conta da pandemia de Coronavírus. Porém com a crise sanitária em todo o mundo e a necessidade de isolamento social, um dos mercados que cresceu significativamente no Brasil foi o de delivery de comida. E mais especificamente, o setor de comida japonesa vem se mostrando bastante promissor. Mesmo num cenário favorável ainda é difícil abrir e manter um negócio no país independente do setor. Por isso é importante a elaboração de um Plano de Negócio, pois possibilita a visualização do mercado e da empresa como um todo. Nesse sentido, este trabalho teve como objetivo geral desenvolver um plano de negócios para a abertura da segunda unidade do Mané Sushi na cidade de Florianópolis. Sendo traçados objetivos específicos, como: elaborar planos estratégico; de marketing; operacional e financeiro para avaliar a viabilidade de abertura do negócio. O embasamento deste trabalho se deu pela Fundamentação Teórica e pela Metodologia, demonstrando como foram feitas as análises e pesquisas. Ao final do trabalho iremos perceber que a ideia para a segunda unidade do Mané Sushi é viável em diversos aspectos pois os resultados projetados são satisfatórios.2020 has been a very challenging year for small businesses due to the Coronavírus pandemic. However, with the sanitary crisis worldwide and the need for social isolation, one of the markets that grew significantly in Brazil was food delivery. And more specifically, the Japanese food sector has shown itself to be very promising. Even in a favorable scenario, it is still difficult to open and maintain a business in the country regardless of the sector. That is why it is important to prepare a Business Plan, as it allows the visualization of the market and the company as a whole. Therefore, this paper had the general objective of developing a business plan for the opening of a second unit of Mané Sushi in the city of Florianópolis. To this end, specific objectives were outlined, such as: preparing strategic, marketing, operational and financial plans to assess the feasibility of opening the business. The basis of this paper was given by Theoretical Foundation and by the Methodology, demonstrating the analyzes and research were carried out

    Potential of e-Fischer Tropsch diesel and oxymethyl-ether (OMEx) as fuels for the dual-mode dual-fuel concept

    Full text link
    [EN] The dual-mode dual-fuel combustion strategy allows operating over the entire engine map by implementing a diffusive dual-fuel combustion at high engine loads. This requires increasing the amount of exhaust gas re-circulation to control the NOx emissions, which penalizes the soot levels. At these conditions, the use of nonsooting fuels as the e-Fischer Tropsch Diesel (e-FT) and oxymethylene dimethyl ethers (OMEx) could be a potential way to avoid the NOx-soot trade-off. The experimental results acquired in a compression ignition multi-cylinder medium-duty engine evidence that the higher oxygen content of OMEx allows reducing the soot emissions at high loads to near zero levels, while e-FT promotes a soot reduction of around 20% as compared to diesel. Nonetheless, the low lower heating value of OMEx leads to excessive injection durations, enlarging the combustion process and increasing the fuel consumption around 1.3-7.2% and 1.4-5.3% as compared to diesel and e-FT, respectively, depending on the engine load. Finally, the well to wheel analysis confirms the potential in reducing the carbon dioxide footprint of OMEx (14.8-69%) and e-FT (0.3-38.5%) compared to diesel, as they can be synthetized via direct air capture as a source of carbon and using renewable energy.The authors thanks VOLVO Group Trucks Technology and Aramco Overseas Company for supporting this research. Get PDF
    La fístula gastro-esplénica es una condición rara y potencialmente fatal causada, principalmente, por neoplasias.  Objetivos: Reportar un caso de fístula gastro-esplénica y realizar una revisión integrativa de la literatura. Caso clínico: Paciente mujer de 63 años, con cuadro de hiporexia, astenia, melena y masa abdominal de dos meses de evolución; internada por hematemesis masiva. Ante la imposibilidad de tratamiento endoscópico, se realizó una laparotomía exploradora de emergencia, donde se identificó un gran tumor esplénico que invadía la curvatura mayor gástrica. El abordaje quirúrgico incluyó gastrectomía segmentar con esplenectomía y cirugía de control de daños. El diagnóstico anatomo-patológico fue compatible con linfoma linfocítico de células pequeñas esplénico, fistulizado al estómago.  Discusión: La fístula gastro-esplénica es una entidad rara cuya principal causa son los tumores malignos, principalmente los linfomas de células grandes. La tomografía de abdomen es el examen de elección para el diagnóstico. El tratamiento definitivo, en la mayoría de los casos, consiste en la gastrectomía parcial, con o sin esplenectomía

    Relation between motivation and enjoyment in physical education classes in children from 10 to 12 years old

    Get PDF
    There are serious warnings of sedentary lifestyles among children. Therefore, it is necessary to take measures from school, especially in Physical Education (PE) classes. One way to do this, it is paying attention to the motivational climate and enjoyment in PE classes because these two factors are related to the intention to be physically active by students. This research’s aim was to evaluate multidimensional motivation and enjoyment in PE classes and relations between these dimensions. The sample included 315 Primary Education Galician students (Spain), 145 boys (46%) and 170 girls (54%), with an age range between 10 and 12 years (M=10.92, SD=0.792). Data were collected by means of two questionnaires. One of them was the ‘Physical Education Questionnaire in Primary Education´ (CMEF-EP), and the other one was ‘Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale´ (PACES). The following results were obtained: Intrinsic Motivation (IM) (M=5.12; SD=1.14), External Regulation (ER) (M=3.61; SD=1.63), Amotivation (AM) (M=1.93; SD=1.46), Enjoyment (ENJ) (M=4.51; SD=0.55). Regression analysis shows that the IM can predict 42.1% of ENJ in PE classes. Therefore, students’ intrinsic motivation is a solid framework for enjoyment in PE lessons. Consequently, it should be taken into account by Primary Education teachers in their classrooms. They should take appropriate measures to encourage intrinsic motivation: methodologies of inquiry, positive feedback, variety of tasks and materials, flexible grouping and meaningful assessment

    Full text link
    [EN] Background: Estimation of the depth of myometrial invasion (MI) in endometrial cancer is pivotal in the preoperatively staging. Magnetic resonance (MR) reports suffer from human subjectivity. Multiparametric MR imaging radiomics and parameters may improve the diagnostic accuracy. Purpose: To discriminate between patients with MI ¿ 50% using a machine learning-based model combining texture features and descriptors from preoperatively MR images. Study Type: Retrospective. Population: One hundred forty-three women with endometrial cancer were included. The series was split into training (n = 107, 46 with MI ¿ 50%) and test (n = 36, 16 with MI ¿ 50%) cohorts. Field Strength/Sequences: Fast spin echo T2-weighted (T2W), diffusion-weighted (DW), and T1-weighted gradient echo dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) sequences were obtained at 1.5 or 3 T magnets. Assessment: Tumors were manually segmented slice-by-slice. Texture metrics were calculated from T2W and ADC map images. Also, the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), wash-in slope, wash-out slope, initial area under the curve at 60 sec and at 90 sec, initial slope, time to peak and peak amplitude maps from DCE sequences were obtained as parameters. MR diagnostic models using single-sequence features and a combination of features and parameters from the three sequences were built to estimate MI using Adaboost methods. The pathological depth of MI was used as gold standard. Statistical Test: Area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC), sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, precision and recall were computed to assess the Adaboost models performance. Results: The diagnostic model based on the features and parameters combination showed the best performance to depict patient with MI ¿ 50% in the test cohort (accuracy = 86.1% and AUROC = 87.1%). The rest of diagnostic models showed a worse accuracy (accuracy = 41.67%¿63.89% and AUROC = 41.43%¿63.13%). Data Conclusion: The model combining the texture features from T2W and ADC map images with the semi-quantitative parameters from DW and DCE series allow the preoperative estimation of myometrial invasion. Scale-free brain functional networks

    Get PDF
    Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is used to extract {\em functional networks} connecting correlated human brain sites. Analysis of the resulting networks in different tasks shows that: (a) the distribution of functional connections, and the probability of finding a link vs. distance are both scale-free, (b) the characteristic path length is small and comparable with those of equivalent random networks, and (c) the clustering coefficient is orders of magnitude larger than those of equivalent random networks. All these properties, typical of scale-free small world networks, reflect important functional information about brain states.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figures, 2 table

    El análisis de la interacción entre los procesos asociados a plumas mantélicas y el contexto geodinámico sobre el que se encuentran ha propiciado debates sobre su influencia y el desarrollo del vulcanismo insular. En el caso del archipiélago de las Azores, el modelo de alineamiento de promontorios insulares asociado a una pluma estática ha dado paso a la evaluación de la interacción del punto triple de las Azores. En este contexto interaccionan el límite Azores-Gibraltar y el rift de Terceira. La Isla de Santa María, la más oriental del archipiélago, se encuentra en la unión entre ambos sistemas y presenta una distribución de fracturas y diques compatible con los sistemas de fracturación principales. En este trabajo se analizan los sistemas diacrónicos de diques a través de la ASM (Anisotropía de Susceptibilidad Magnética). Los resultados obtenidos permiten interpretar flujos subverticales asociados a cada uno de los sistemas compatibles con una inyección pasiva en fracturas de origen tectónico
