Classical ladder functions for Rosen-Morse and curved Kepler-Coulomb systems
Producción CientÃficaLadder functions in classical mechanics are defined in a similar way as ladder operators in the context of quantum mechanics. In the present paper, we develop a new method for obtaining ladder functions of one dimensional systems by means of a product of two ‘factor functions’. We apply this method to the curved Kepler–Coulomb and Rosen–Morse II systems whose ladder functions were not found yet. The ladder functions here obtained are applied to get the motion of the systems.Ministerio de EconomÃa, Industria y Competitividad (project MTM2014-57129-C2-1-P)Junta de Castilla y León-FEDER (projects BU229P18 / VA057U16 / VA137G18)
Discovery of meteorites on a blue-ice field near the Frontier Mountains, North Victoria Land, Antarctica
A high concentration of meteorites were discovered on a blue ice field northeast of the Frontier Mountains. As a result of a systematic search, a total of 42 meteorites were recovered. The current glacial situation has evolved through various stages, which are discussed in relationship to the concentration of meteorites. Ice flow patterns are summarized. The chemical composition and terrestrial ages of the meteorites are discussed
Constant curvature solutions of Grassmannian sigma models: (1) Holomorphic solutions
We present a general formula for the Gaussian curvature of curved holomorphic
2-spheres in Grassmannian manifolds G(m, n). We then show how to construct such
solutions with constant curvature. We also make some relevant conjectures for
the admissible constant curvatures in G(m, n) and give some explicit
expressions, in particular, for G(2, 4) and G(2, 5).Comment: 14 page
Visualizing Mutation-Specific Differences in the Trafficking-Deficient Phenotype of Kv11.1 Proteins Linked to Long QT Syndrome Type 2
KCNH2 encodes the Kv11.1 α-subunit that underlies the rapidly activating delayed-rectifier K+ current in the heart. Loss-of-function KCNH2 mutations cause long QT syndrome type 2 (LQT2), and most LQT2-linked missense mutations inhibit the trafficking of Kv11.1 channel protein to the cell surface membrane. Several trafficking-deficient LQT2 mutations (e.g., G601S) generate Kv11.1 proteins that are sequestered in a microtubule-dependent quality control (QC) compartment in the transitional endoplasmic reticulum (ER). We tested the hypothesis that the QC mechanisms that regulate LQT2-linked Kv11.1 protein trafficking are mutation-specific. Confocal imaging analyses of HEK293 cells stably expressing the trafficking-deficient LQT2 mutation F805C showed that, unlike G601S-Kv11.1 protein, F805C-Kv11.1 protein was concentrated in several transitional ER subcompartments. The microtubule depolymerizing drug nocodazole differentially affected G601S- and F805C-Kv11.1 protein immunostaining. Nocodazole caused G601S-Kv11.1 protein to distribute into peripheral reticular structures, and it increased the diffuse immunostaining of F805C-Kv11.1 protein around the transitional ER subcompartments. Proteasome inhibition also affected the immunostaining of G601S- and F805C-Kv11.1 protein differently. Incubating cells in MG132 minimally impacted G601S-Kv11.1 immunostaining, but it dramatically increased the diffuse immunostaining of F805C-Kv11.1 protein in the transitional ER. Similar results were seen after incubating cells in the proteasome inhibitor lactacystin. Differences in the cellular distribution of G601S-Kv11.1 and F805C-Kv11.1 protein persisted in transfected human inducible pluripotent stem cell derived cardiomyocytes. These are the first data to visually demonstrate mutation-specific differences in the trafficking-deficient LQT2 phenotype, and this study has identified a novel way to categorize trafficking-deficient LQT2 mutations based on differences in intracellular retention
Pressure induced structural and dynamical changes in liquid Si. An ab-initio study
The static and dynamic properties of liquid Si at high-pressure have been
studied using the orbital free ab-initio molecular dynamics method. Four
thermodynamic states at pressures 4, 8, 14 and 23 GPa are considered. The
calculated static structure shows qualitative agreement with the available
experimental data. We analize the remarkable structural changes occurring
between 8 and 14 GPa along with its effect on several dynamic properties.Comment: 10 pages, 11 figures. Accepted for publication in Journal of Physics:

A 12-month follow-up of a mobile-based (mHealth) obesity prevention intervention in pre-school children: the MINISTOP randomized controlled trial
Background: To date, few mobile health (mHealth) interventions aimed at changing lifestyle behaviors have
measured long term effectiveness. At the 6-month follow-up the MINISTOP trial found a statistically significant
intervention effect for a composite score comprised of fat mass index (FMI) as well as dietary and physical activity
variables; however, no intervention effect was observed for FMI. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate
if the MINISTOP intervention 12-months after baseline measurements: (i) improved FMI and (ii) had a maintained
effect on a composite score comprised of FMI and dietary and physical activity variables.
Methods: A two-arm parallel randomized controlled trial was conducted in 315 healthy 4.5 year old children
between January 2014 and October 2015. Parents’ of the participating children either received the MINISTOP
intervention or a basic pamphlet on dietary and physical activity behaviors (control group). After 6 months,
participants did not have access to the intervention content and were measured again 6 months later (i.e. the
12-month follow-up). The Wilcoxon rank-sum test was then used to examine differences between the groups.
Results: At the 12-month follow-up, no statistically significant difference was observed between the intervention
and control groups for FMI (p = 0.57) and no maintained effect for the change in composite score was observed
(mean ± standard deviation for the intervention and control group: + 0.53 ± 1.49 units and + 0.35 ± 1.27 units
respectively, p = 0.25 between groups).
Conclusions: The intervention effect observed at the 6-month follow-up on the composite score was not
maintained at the 12-month follow-up, with no effect on FMI being observed at either follow-up. Future studies
using mHealth are needed to investigate how changes in obesity related markers in young children can be
maintained over longer time periods. The MINISTOP project was funded by the Swedish Research Council (project

QT Prolongation is Associated with Increased Mortality in End Stage Liver Disease
AIM
To determine the prevalence of QT prolongation in a large series of end stage liver disease (ESLD) patients and its association to clinical variables and mortality.
METHODS
The QT interval was measured and corrected for heart rate for each patient, with a prolonged QT cutoff defined as QT \u3e 450 ms for males and QT \u3e 470 ms for females. Multiple clinical variables were evaluated including sex, age, serum sodium, international normalized ratio, creatinine, total bilirubin, beta-blocker use, Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD), MELD-Na, and etiology of liver disease.
RESULTS
Among 406 ESLD patients analyzed, 207 (51.0%) had QT prolongation. The only clinical variable associated with QT prolongation was male gender (OR = 3.04, 95%CI: 2.01-4.60, P \u3c 0.001). During the study period, 187 patients (46.1%) died. QT prolongation was a significant independent predictor of mortality (OR = 1.69, 95%CI: 1.03-2.77, P = 0.039). In addition, mortality was also associated with viral etiology of ESLD, elevated MELD score and its components (P \u3c 0.05 for all). No significant reversibility in the QT interval was seen after liver transplantation.
CONCLUSION
QT prolongation was commonly encountered in an ESLD population, especially in males, and served as a strong independent marker for increased mortality in ESLD patients
