Valuation of Debt Indexed to Real Values I. The case of the Argentinean Growth Coupon: a Simple Mode

This paper is the first of a series of works whose aim is trying to provide a framework for the understanding and valuation of debt indexed to real (gener- ally non-tradable) variables. In particular, in the present paper we develop a methodology to analytically value the new GDP-linked Argentinean warrant.

Darwin y el sentido de la belleza

En El origen de las especies (1859) y en El origen del hombre (1871) se manejan algunas ideas que ponen de manifiesto lo que Darwin pensó sobre el «gusto» o el «sentido de la belleza ». Contra lo que podría esperarse, de sus reflexiones se desprende que ni el uno ni el otro son «innatos» o «inalterables». Más aún, Darwin sugiere que el gusto nuevo de una generación puede convertirse con el paso del tiempo en causa de «especiación». Este planteamiento casi lamarckista se aplica tanto a animales como a seres humanos y pone en entredicho muchas de las afirmaciones de los defensores de la actual «Estética Evolucionista».In The Origin of Species (1859) and The Descent of Man (1871) there are some ideas that show what Darwin thought about «Taste» and «Sense of beauty». Contrary to what could be expected, from his reflections we can infer that neither the one nor the other are «innate» or «unchanging». Moreover, Darwin suggests that the new taste showed by a generation can result in «speciation». This Lamarckian approach is applied to both animals and humans, and it calls into question many of the claims made by the followers of the «Evolutionary Aesthetics»

Del "dachgärten" al "green roofscape" (1970-2005). Aportación a la historia reciente del paisaje urbano

El urbanismo suele considerar el paisaje urbano a pie de calle. Pero el umbral vertical de la urbe, el paisaje urbano que se descubre desde lo alto de una torre o sobrevolando la ciudad, apenas preocupa a nadie. Una de las alternativas paisajísticas al interminable panorama mineral conformado por las ciudades difusas del siglo XXI se puede encontrar en las nuevas cubiertas ajardinadas y en las nuevas perspectivas verdes que se ofrezcan desde los tejados. En este artículo cito unas cuantas terrazas ajardinadas (en alemán, dachgárten o terrassengárten) pero, sobre todo, me fijo en algunos proyectos de urbanismo verde que aspiran a hacer realidad el paisaje verde de altura (en inglés, green roofscape) en las ciudades occidentales contemporáneas. Como se verá, dicho paisaje se puede convertir en una segunda alternativa, una opción estética y ecológica al gris panorama urbano que avanza sobre la tierra con vehemencia lasciva. (A

La armonización de los ordenamientos laborales de los Estados miembros de la CEE: Problemas alternativos y soluciones

The minor weight of «social aims» in the Treatt of Rome, has brought about an overdue and scarce development of Social Community Law. Except for some particular aspects (equal treatment, freedom of movement) on which some others factors do have an influence, social standards have, within the limits of the Community, a truly modest scope, restricted to certain questions connected with critical situations in undertakings. Notwithstanding this, the incipient evolution of Social Community Law which carne about in the mid 70's, runs during the following decade into insuperable difficulties which have prevented its development. The Single Act, moreover, furnishes just a few limited and restricted novelisties (especially in the field of labour health), and it keeps up, in the essential), the precedent situation. However, the prospects of econoinic and monetary unión give rise to the issue of the harmonization of labour market regulations on a Community-wide basis. In this paper we analyze the requirements created by economic unión in the field of the working conditions regulation, and we study the different proposals related to this question: a harmonization of mínimum standards, based in the consecration of just some human rights; a harmonization of aims taking into account the special features of domestic law; a harmonization by way of the implementation of international treaties in forcé; and a sharper harmonization in order to promote the unification of the mechanisms regulations the working conditions. Great stress is laid on this last kind of harmonization, technical and politícal difficulties are pondered, and the adequate ways to progress in the adequate ways to progress in the consecution of this harmonization are proposed

The pragmatic traces in The Uses of Argument

El libro publicado por Stephen Toulmin en 1958, que lleva por título Los usos de la argumentación, es considerado como uno de los pilares del resurgimiento de la Teoría de la argumentación en el siglo XX. Si bien los estudios sobre dicho libro y, en general, sobre la posición de su autor son numerosos, hay un aspecto de su obra que permanece aún poco analizado, a saber, su vínculo con las ideas del filósofo pragmatista John Dewey. Este vínculo resulta problemático habida cuenta de que, si bien las referencias a Dewey en el conjunto de la obra de Toulmin son numerosas y a menudo elogiosas, en particular las referencias al filósofo pragmatista en Los usos de la argumentación son escasas y de tono crítico, pese a que, como se mostrará en este trabajo, puede sostenerse que la posición de Toulmin en dicha obra no sólo incorpora, como suele reconocerse, una perspectiva pragmática sino también una pragmatista.It is well known that the book published by Stephen Toulmin in 1958, with the title The uses of argument, is one of the cornerstones of the resurgence of Argumentation Theory in the 20th century. Although it is true that research into that book and its author is extensive, there is an aspect of his work which has not been thoroughly studied: his relation to the ideas of the pragmatist philosopher John Dewey. This relation is problematic since in Toulmin’s work there are several references to Dewey, but in The uses of Argument the references are scarce and negative. In spite of that, this paper will show that Toulmin’s argumentation theory can be said to incorporate a pragmatist perspective, and not just a pragmatic perspective as is commonly recognized.Fil: López, Federico Ezequiel.
