Consequences of the Introduction of Metallurgy

This paper discusses the underdetermined changes brought about by the introduction of extractive metallurgy in the southern Levant. It takes a long-term-perspective. The author sums up current perspectives with regard to a modified chronology based on calibrated radiocarbon dates before re-evaluating the interconnections between technical innovation and social change. Arguments in favor and against a Schivelbuschian view on extractive copper metallurgy are discussed as well as a variety of social fields in which changes can be detected.Dieser Beitrag beschreibt die Veränderungen, die die Einführung der extraktiven Metallurgie in der südlichen Levante bewirkten. Dabei wird eine Langzeitperspektive eingenom- men. Der Autor fasst aktuelle Perspektiven im Hinblick auf eine geänderte Chronologie zusammen, die auf kalibrierten Radiokarbondaten basiert. Damit können die Verbindungen zwischen technischer Innovation und sozialen Veränderungen neu bewertet werden. In diesem Zusammenhang werden Argumente für und gegen einen an Schivelbusch angelehnten Blick auf extraktive Kupfermetallurgie sowie auf eine Vielzahl sozialer Bereiche diskutiert, in denen Veränderungen festgestellt werden können

Tel Tsaf, Israel: Die Arbeiten des Jahres 2013

The prehistoric settlement Tel Tsaf, situated near Beth Shean in the middle Jordan Valley, is excavated by an international team of scientists. The work started in 2013 with a test campaign that could verify the existence of very well preserved Late Neolithic/Middle Chalcolithic remains with no later disturbances right under the top-soil. Soundings in the west of the site could document a much larger settlement area than previously thought. The stratigraphy continues to the Neolithic Wadi Rabah-culture and thus offers the unique situation to examine the beginnings of early forms of social complexity. The project aims to document this stratigraphy and analyse the socioeconomic changes involved in this process in an interdisciplinary perspective

Contextualising Ancient Technology

The diffusion of innovations from the Near East into the ‘static’ surrounding peripheries has become a well-known archaeological paradigm, often summed up as Ex Oriente Lux. While this conflicts with modern, scientifically controlled chronologies, it is difficult to explain as mere local developments and pure chance the appearance of large-scale communication networks, the transformation of power concentrations in the first states, or the diffusion of the wheel, alloyed metals, and writing. The papers in this volume follow two approaches to convene on new insights into the prehistoric and ancient innovation process. Theoretical perspectives attempt to challenge and modify traditional models of innovation diffusion that lack the chronological depth of archaeological sources, while case studies from the Copper, Bronze and Iron Ages of Europe, southwest Asia, and North Africa analyze the specific archaeological and sociopolitical contexts, the technological traditions of innovations, and the specifications of their emergence, spread, and improvements

Level of Team Cooperation Appraisal in a Selected Sports Club

Předmětem diplomové práce je problematika aktuální týmové spolupráce v konkrétním sportovním klubu z pohledu aktivního hráče. Jejím cílem je poté posouzení úrovně této spolupráce a formulace doporučení ke zlepšení. V rámci teoretické části se věnujeme definici týmu a jeho odlišnosti od pracovních skupin, důležitosti existence společného týmového cíle, komunikaci v týmu, týmové spolupráci a také dalším aspektům, které souvisejí s efektivní kooperací lidí v týmu. Závěr teoretické části diplomové práce je zaměřen na techniky týmové práce, které jsou následně v praktické části využívány při hlubším poznávání týmu uvnitř sportovního oddílu. V praktické části diplomové práce se snažíme pomocí dotazníkového šetření posoudit úroveň týmové spolupráce v konkrétním týmu a na základě definování problémů skrze techniky týmové spolupráce, navrhnout doporučení, která by mohla vylepšit týmovou spolupráci v konkrétním sportovním týmu.The issue of teamwork in a sport club from the perspective of an active player is the topic of this diploma thesis. The aim of the diploma thesis is to assess the level of the teamwork and to formulate recommendations for improvement. Theoretical part focuses on the definition of team and its differences from the working groups, the importance of the existence of a common team goal, the communication in the team, teamwork in general and also other aspects related to effective cooperation of people in the team. The conclusion of the theoretical part deals with teamwork techniques which are implemented in the practical part of this thesis when understanding and observing the team. In the practical part, the thesis tries to assess the level of teamwork in the team using a questionnaire survey. Evaluating the Usage of Various Tools for Employee Recruitment and Selection in a Personnel Agency

Cílem bakalářské práce je zhodnocení využití různých metod a nástrojů, které personální agentury využívají k získávání a výběru zaměstnanců. V teoretické části práce se zabýváme nejdříve personální prací, která obsahuje proces získávání a výběru zaměstnanců. Tento proces je v bakalářské práci determinován společně s jednotlivými metodami, které se při tomto procesu využívají. Závěr teoretické části slouží k objasnění pojmu personální agentura, jenž je základem pro zhodnocení současného systému získávání a výběru zaměstnanců v konkrétní personální agentuře, společně s definicemi jednotlivých metod pro získávání a výběru zaměstnanců. V praktické části zkoumáme, jaké konkrétní metody daná personální agentura při získávání a výběru zaměstnanců používá a na základě pozorování a provedeného dotazníkového šetření se pokoušíme navrhnout možnosti, jakými by personální agentura mohla vylepšit svůj systém získávání a výběru vhodných zaměstnanců do firem svých klientů.Main aim of bachelor thesis is evaluating the usage of various methods and tools, which personnel agencies use for employee recruitment and selection. In theoretical part of the work we firstly deal with personnel work, which contain process of employee recruitment and selection. This process is determined in bachelor work together with particular methods, which are used in this process. The conclusion of the theoretical part is used to clarify the term personnel agency, which serves as a basis for evaluating the current system for employee recruitment and selection in a specific personnel agency, together with definitions of particular methods for employee recruitment and selection. In practical part we research, what specific methods personnel agency uses for employee recruitment and selection and on the basis of observing and executed questionnaire research we try to suggest possibilities, how personnel agency can improve its system of employee recruitment and selection to firms its clients.115 - Katedra managementuvýborn

On orthogonal projections for dimension reduction and applications in augmented target loss functions for learning problems

The use of orthogonal projections on high-dimensional input and target data in learning frameworks is studied. First, we investigate the relations between two standard objectives in dimension reduction, preservation of variance and of pairwise relative distances. Investigations of their asymptotic correlation as well as numerical experiments show that a projection does usually not satisfy both objectives at once. In a standard classification problem we determine projections on the input data that balance the objectives and compare subsequent results. Next, we extend our application of orthogonal projections to deep learning tasks and introduce a general framework of augmented target loss functions. These loss functions integrate additional information via transformations and projections of the target data. In two supervised learning problems, clinical image segmentation and music information classification, the application of our proposed augmented target loss functions increase the accuracy
