Principles of microRNA regulation of a human cellular signaling network
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are endogenous 22-nucleotide RNAs, which suppress gene
expression by selectively binding to the 3-noncoding region of specific message
RNAs through base-pairing. Given the diversity and abundance of miRNA targets,
miRNAs appear to functionally interact with various components of many cellular
networks. By analyzing the interactions between miRNAs and a human cellular
signaling network, we found that miRNAs predominantly target positive
regulatory motifs, highly connected scaffolds and most downstream network
components such as signaling transcription factors, but less frequently target
negative regulatory motifs, common components of basic cellular machines and
most upstream network components such as ligands. In addition, when an adaptor
has potential to recruit more downstream components, these components are more
frequently targeted by miRNAs. This work uncovers the principles of miRNA
regulation of signal transduction networks and implies a potential function of
miRNAs for facilitating robust transitions of cellular response to
extracellular signals and maintaining cellular homeostasis
Spin Dynamics in the Magnetoelectric Effect LiCoPO Compound
Inelastic neutron scattering (INS) experiments were performed to investigate
the spin dynamics in magnetoelectric effect (ME) LiCoPO single crystals.
Weak dispersion was detected in the magnetic excitation spectra along the three
principal crystallographic axes measured around the (0 1 0) magnetic
reflection. Analysis of the data using linear spin-wave theory indicate that
single-ion anisotropy in LiCoPO is as important as the strongest
nearest-neighbor exchange coupling. Our results suggest that Co
single-ion anisotropy plays an important role in the spin dynamics of
LiCoPO and must be taken into account in understanding its physical
properties. High resolution INS measurements reveal an anomalous low energy
excitation that we hypothesize may be related to the magnetoelectric effect of
LiCoPO.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures, accepted for publication in Phys. Rev.

Commensurate-Incommensurate Magnetic Phase Transition in Magnetoelectric Single Crystal LiNiPO
Neutron scattering studies of single-crystal LiNiPO reveal a spontaneous
first-order commensurate-incommensurate magnetic phase transition. Short- and
long-range incommensurate phases are intermediate between the high temperature
paramagnetic and the low temperature antiferromagnetic phases. The modulated
structure has a predominant antiferromagnetic component, giving rise to
satellite peaks in the vicinity of the fundamental antiferromagnetic Bragg
reflection, and a ferromagnetic component giving rise to peaks at small
momentum-transfers around the origin at . The wavelength of the
modulated magnetic structure varies continuously with temperature. It is argued
that the incommensurate short- and long-range phases are due to
spin-dimensionality crossover from a continuous to the discrete Ising state.
These observations explain the anomalous first-order transition seen in the
magnetoelectric effect of this system
Galactic Rotation Parameters from Data on Open Star Clusters
Currently available data on the field of velocities Vr, Vl, Vb for open star
clusters are used to perform a kinematic analysis of various samples that
differ by heliocentric distance, age, and membership in individual structures
(the Orion, Carina--Sagittarius, and Perseus arms). Based on 375 clusters
located within 5 kpc of the Sun with ages up to 1 Gyr, we have determined the
Galactic rotation parameters
Wo =-26.0+-0.3 km/s/kpc,
W'o = 4.18+-0.17 km/s/kpc^2,
W''o=-0.45+-0.06 km/s/kpc^3, the system contraction parameter K = -2.4+-0.1
km/s/kpc, and the parameters of the kinematic center Ro =7.4+-0.3 kpc and lo =
0+-1 degrees. The Galactocentric distance Ro in the model used has been found
to depend significantly on the sample age. Thus, for example, it is 9.5+-0.7
kpc and 5.6+-0.3 kpc for the samples of young (50 Myr)
clusters, respectively. Our study of the kinematics of young open star clusters
in various spiral arms has shown that the kinematic parameters are similar to
the parameters obtained from the entire sample for the Carina-Sagittarius and
Perseus arms and differ significantly from them for the Orion arm. The
contraction effect is shown to be typical of star clusters with various ages.
It is most pronounced for clusters with a mean age of 100 Myr, with the
contraction velocity being Kr = -4.3+-1.0 km/s.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figures, 2 table
A Catalog of Chandra X-ray Sources in the Carina Nebula
We present a catalog of ~14,000 X-ray sources observed by the ACIS instrument
on the Chandra X-ray Observatory within a 1.42 square degree survey of the
Great Nebula in Carina, known as the Chandra Carina Complex Project (CCCP).
This study appears in a Special Issue of the ApJS devoted to the CCCP. Here, we
describe the data reduction and analysis procedures performed on the X-ray
observations, including calibration and cleaning of the X-ray event data, point
source detection, and source extraction. The catalog appears to be complete
across most of the field to an absorption-corrected total-band luminosity of
~10^{30.7} erg/s for a typical low-mass pre-main sequence star. Counterparts to
the X-ray sources are identified in a variety of visual, near-infrared, and
mid-infrared surveys. The X-ray and infrared source properties presented here
form the basis of many CCCP studies of the young stellar populations in Carina.Comment: Accepted for the ApJS Special Issue on the Chandra Carina Complex
Project (CCCP), scheduled for publication in May 2011. All 16 CCCP Special
Issue papers are available at

Порушення метаболізму в сільськогосподарської птиці (огляд)
The rapid growth of demand for poultry products requires its sufficient production by specialized farms of various forms of ownership. However, such production needs are not always adequate to the selection approach, the incubation component, the basic requirements of veterinary and sanitary and zoohygienic support, breed and age characteristics of keeping and raising poultry. Therefore, one of the crucial components of obtaining biologically complete, high-quality and fast-paying products of the poultry industry, including all stages of its production, is human support of the main links of ontogenesis (development after birth) of the bird. The issue of not only the creation of the genetic potential of the parent bird of different species and areas of productivity, but also the provision of veterinary and sanitary conditions for their maintenance, breeding and breeding remains relevant. However, the current economic conditions have forced the heads of enterprises and veterinary departments to some extent bypass the planned laboratory tests of feed, water and blood, which, although not complete, but informative enough to trace the main periods of growth and development of the bird. Slight deterioration of the mode and quality of feeding, changes in the parameters of the microclimate are reflected in changes in blood parameters. And what about the spoilage of feed, water, violation of veterinary and sanitary maintenance of poultry: the lack of preventive treatments with vitamin-mineral, hepatoprotective and enzyme preparations, pre- and probiotics. Which can lead to metabolic disorders in poultry. Which can occur due to disorders of protein, lipid, carbohydrate, vitamin, macro- and micromineral metabolism. As a result, there are significantly popular diseases such as: uric acid diathesis, cannibalism, osteoporosis and osteomalacia, perosis, rickets, obesity, E-hypovitaminosis. Further reducing productivity, which leads to large economic losses on farms.

Optimization of varicella treatment in children
The basic group included 31 children with chicken pox. Сhildren of this
group were prescribed the basic therapy with Vitaferon in complex treatment. A comparison group
was comprised mainly of patients with varicella, from 1 month to 17 years old who had only standart
therapy. Including immunobiological substance Vitaferon into a complex therapy
of Varicella allows significantly decrease duration of fever and general intoxication, the intensity and
widespreading of rash on the skin and mucous membrane, and also to normalize hemogram by 2–
3 days earlier.
The advantage of Vitaferon substance is a good tolerability. Undesirable side reactions
have not been registered during its usage for the treatment of varicella. The positive therapeutic
effect, convenient usage and safety, lack of the side reaction of Vitaferon allows it to be recommended
for use in combination therapy of varicella in children
