Investigation of the Relationship Between the Level of Health Literacy and Vaccine Hesitancy
Objective: The objective of the study was to investigate the relationship between the level of health literacy and vaccine hesitancy. Furthermore, the dependence of the level of health literacy and vaccine hesitancy on socio-demographic variables were analyzed. Material and Methods: The study was conducted with 403 individuals via online and the questionnaire included the socio-demographic questions and two scales. The study was designed as a cross-sectional study and carried out during February- March, 2022 in Turkey. The online survey included a brief information on the study objective, anonymity and confidentiality of the collected data and voluntary participation. Data were collected through Turkish Health Literacy Scale-32 (TSOY-32) which was developed on the basis of the HLS-EU Study Conceptual Framework for Turkey and Vaccine Hesitancy Likert Scale. Data were analyzed by using SPSS-25 ve Lisrel 8.80. Results: The study suggested that there was a positive weak association between the level of health literacy and vaccine hesitancy, meaning as health literacy of participants increased the vaccine hesitancy of participants decreased. In terms of socio-demographic factors, both health literacy average index scores and vaccine hesitancy average scores were found to be differing in relation with education and income status of participants. Discussion and Conclusion: According to the recent European Health Literacy Survey study conducted in Europe, the findings indicated that 12% of the people who participated in in survey had insufficient general health literacy, and 35% had problematic health literacy. Our findings showed that 43% of respondents fell into a problematic category, and 30% were in the insufficient category. There is a need to conduct new studies using multiple measurement tools that are specific to vaccine literacy and those used to measure general health literacy. Recessive osteogenesis imperfecta caused by LEPRE1 mutations: clinical documentation and identification of the splice form responsible for prolyl 3-hydroxylation
Abstract: Background: Recessive forms of osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) may be caused by mutations in LEPRE1, encoding prolyl 3-hydroxylase-1 (P3H1) or in CRTAP, encoding cartilage associated protein. These proteins constitute together with cyclophilin B (CyPB) the prolyl 3-hydroxylation complex that hydroxylates the Pro986 residue in both the type I and type II collagen alpha 1-chains.
Methods: We screened LEPRE1, CRTAP and PPIB (encoding CyPB) in a European/Middle Eastern cohort of 20 lethal/severe OI patients without a type I collagen mutation.
Results: Four novel homozygous and compound heterozygous mutations were identified in LEPRE1 in four probands. Two probands survived the neonatal period, including one patient who is the eldest reported patient (17(7/12) years) so far with P3H1 deficiency. At birth, clinical and radiologic features were hardly distinguishable from those in patients with autosomal dominant (AD) severe/lethal OI. Follow-up data reveal that the longer lived patients develop a severe osteochondrodysplasia that overlaps with, but has some distinctive features from, AD OI. A new splice site mutation was identified in two of the four probands, affecting only one of three LEPRE1 mRNA splice forms, detected in this study. The affected splice form encodes a 736 amino acid (AA) protein with a "KDEL'' endoplasmic reticulum retention signal. While western blotting and immunocytochemical analysis of fibroblast cultures revealed absence of this P3H1 protein, mass spectrometry and SDS-urea-PAGE data showed severe reduction of alpha 1(I) Pro986 3-hydroxylation and overmodification of type I (pro) collagen chains in skin fibroblasts of the patients.
Conclusion: These findings suggest that the 3-hydroxylation function of P3H1 is restricted to the 736AA splice form
Görsel sanatlar öğretmenlerinin sanat benlik kavram düzeylerinin farklı değişkenler açısından incelenmesi
Bu araştırmanın amacı, görsel sanatlar öğretmenlerinin sanat benlik kavram
düzeyini cinsiyet, yaş, medeni durum, mesleki kıdem, görev yapılan okul türü
ve mezun olunan fakülte değişkenleri açısından incelemektir. Araştırma nicel
araştırma yaklaşımlarından betimsel tarama (survey) tekniği ile yürütülmüştür.
Uygun örnekleme tekniği kullanılarak 275 görsel sanatlar öğretmenine
ulaşılmıştır. Veriler, Duran ve Tezer (2005) tarafından geliştirilen Sanat Benlik
Kavram Ölçeği kullanılarak elde edilmiştir. Veriler, Kolmogorov-Smirnov,
The present study was conducted in survey research method, which is one of the

produce valid and reliable results in measuring self-efficacy of fine arts
teachers. Affective and motivational processes influence performance of
fine arts teachers as much as professional knowledge of the fine arts
teacher. Self-efficacy is one of those processes. Self-efficacy is described
as self-perceptions or self-beliefs on how well the individual will perform
the specif task or work. Sample of the study consist of 212 fine arts
teachers. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was conducted to determine
how many factors the Fine Art Teaching Self-Efficacy Scale includes and
construct with three factors was revealed. Those factors were named as
Self-Efficacy for Preparatory and Practical Process, Self-Efficacy on
Instructional Process, Self-Efficacy for Diversity. Overall Cronbach Alpha
internal consistency coefficient of the scale was determined as .93.
Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was carried out in order to examine
how well the construct with three factors fit into the data. Results of the
CFA indicated that the construct with three factors fits into the data
moderately (CFI= .97, GFI= .90, TLI=.96, NNFI=.94, IFI=.97, RMSEA=
.07). Reliability analysis was conducted through internal consistency
coefficient. As a result of the reliability analysis Cronbach Alpha
coefficient of the Fine Art Teaching Self-Efficacy Scale was found as .93.
Based on results of the study it was concluded that Fine Art Teaching
Self-Efficacy Scale can measure validly and reliably self-efficacy of fine
art teachers
A homozygous pathogenic missense variant broadens the phenotypic and mutational spectrum of CREB3L1-related osteogenesis imperfecta
The cyclic adenosine monophosphate (AMP) responsive element binding protein 3-like 1 (CREB3L1) gene codes for the endoplasmic reticulum stress transducer old astrocyte specifically induced substance (OASIS), which has an important role in osteoblast differentiation during bone development. Deficiency of OASIS is linked to a severe form of autosomal recessive osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), but only few patients have been reported. We identified the first homozygous pathogenic missense variant (p.(Ala304Val)) in a patient with lethal OI, which is located within the highly conserved basic leucine zipper domain, four amino acids upstream of the DNA binding domain. In vitro structural modeling and luciferase assays demonstrate that this missense variant affects a critical residue in this functional domain, thereby decreasing the type I collagen transcriptional binding ability. In addition, overexpression of the mutant OASIS protein leads to decreased transcription of the SEC23A and SEC24D genes, which code for components of the coat protein complex type II (COPII), and aberrant OASIS signaling also results in decreased protein levels of SEC24D. Our findings therefore provide additional proof of the potential involvement of the COPII secretory complex in the context of bone-associated disease
