Ore and Goldie theorems for skew PBW extensions

Many rings and algebras arising in quantum mechanics can be interpreted as skew PBW (Poincar\'e-Birkhoff-Witt) extensions. Indeed, Weyl algebras, enveloping algebras of finite-dimensional Lie algebras (and its quantization), Artamonov quantum polynomials, diffusion algebras, Manin algebra of quantum matrices, among many others, are examples of skew PBW extensions. In this paper we extend the classical Ore and Goldie theorems, known for skew polynomial rings, to this wide class of non-commutative rings. As application, we prove the quantum version of the Gelfand-Kirillov conjecture for the skew quantum polynomials

Statistical mechanics of gene competition

Statistical mechanics has been applied to a wide range of systems in physics, biology, medicine and even anthropology. This theory has been recently used to model the complex biochemical processes of gene expression and regulation. In particular, genetic networks offer a large number of interesting phenomena, such as multistability and oscillatory behaviour, that can be modelled with statistical mechanics tools. In the first part of this thesis we introduce gene regulation, genetic switches, and the colonization of a spatially structured media. We also introduce statistical mechanics and some of its useful tools, such as the master equation and mean- field theories. We present simple examples that are both pedagogical and also set the basis for the study of more complicated scenarios. In the second part we consider the exclusive genetic switch, a fundamental example of genetic networks. In this system, two proteins compete to regulate each other's dynamics. We characterize the switch by solving the stationary state in different limits of the protein binding and unbinding rates. We perform a study of the bistability of the system by examining its probability distribution, and by applying information theory techniques. We then present several versions of a mean field theory that offers further information about the switch. Finally, we compute the stationary probability distribution with an exact perturbative approach in the unbinding parameter, obtaining a valid result for a wide range of parameters values. The techniques used for this calculation are successfully applied to other switches. The topic studied in the third part of the thesis is the propagation of a trait inside an expanding population. This trait may represent resistance to an antibiotic or being infected with a certain virus. Although our model accounts for different examples in the genetic context, it is also very useful for the general study of a trait propagating in a population. We compute the speed of expansion and the stationary population densities for the invasion of an established and an expanding population, finding non-trivial criteria for speed selection and interesting speed transitions. The obtained formulae for the different wave speeds show excellent agreement with the results provided by simulations. Moreover, we are able to obtain the value of the speeds through a detailed analysis of the populations, and establish the requirements for our equations to present speed transitions. We finally apply our model to the propagation in a position-dependent fitness landscape. In this situation, the growth rate or the maximum concentration depends on the position. The amplitudes and speeds of the waves are again successfully predicted in every case

“Propiedad intelectual: importancia económica, política y social en un mundo dominado por un capitalismo cambiante.”

Muchos creen que no existe nada imposible para el ser humano, con el tiempo adecuado podremos resolver todos los misterios que nos rodean y crear las herramientas necesarias para cumplir tareas que al momento parecen solamente ficción. A partir de la revolución industrial y el posterior ascenso del capitalismo como modelo imperante en el mundo, se revolucionó los modos y maneras de crear. Nos enfrentamos a una avalancha de invenciones que fueron modificando nuestra realidad y nuestra manera de relacionarnos con el mundo. Se creó una rama jurídica para organizar y normar las creaciones humanas, un sistema que premia a los inventores. “La propiedad intelectual (PI) se relaciona con las creaciones de la mente (...)”2. Se creó este concepto para tratar de abarcar todo lo que implica una creación de la mente. Muchos campos bajo una misma rama jurídica, las creaciones artísticas, las literarias y las tecnológicas. A la par, los inventores empezaron a ganar un reconocimiento extraordinario. A ser considerados personas especiales sin las cuales no existiría el progreso, y que gracias su ingenio e inteligencia podemos caminar hacia delante. A través del tiempo ha habido un constante endurecimiento del control de las ideas, lo que actualmente conocemos como propiedad intelectual. Está ligado indiscutiblemente a las transformaciones históricas de las sociedades en Occidente. ¿Cuáles son los motivos del endurecimiento de las leyes en lo que respecta a propiedad intelectual, y a quién o qué buscan proteger? En base a lo expuesto, el siguiente análisis pretende abordar la temática desde el campo de las ideas, esa capacidad humana relacionada al razonamiento, autorreflexión, creatividad y la habilidad de adquirir intelecto fundamento de todo tipo de conocimiento científico y filosófico. A través de elementos históricos, la teoría crítica, métodos cualitativos y análisis de documentos desde un enfoque político, es decir desde las relaciones sociales. En este sentido, el estudio no pretende referirse a la propiedad intelectual desde una perspectiva jurídica, económica clásica y no contempla el uso de métodos cuantitativos. Un análisis crítico de la vida política (burguesa) en Sobre la cuestión judía de Marx

El texto que presento a continuación, muestra el límite de la vida política, a partir del análisis que Marx realiza, en Sobre la cuestión judía, sobre los derechos de los judíos dentro del Estado alemán de 1843. Tomando como horizonte la tarea propuesta por el autor, la emancipación humana, me acerco a la crítica que hace a nuestro género de vida, a esa vida egoísta que llevamos como individuos dentro del Estado democrático, y que es necesario superar. A partir del diálogo constante que Marx lleva con Bauer, muestro el proceso que realiza el autor para confrontar el argumento teológico (ilustrado) acerca de la ciudadanía judía, para así descubrir la escisión y contradicción de la vida política. Además, analizo el proceso histórico por el cual el mundo feudal se convirtió en político, siendo la expresión máxima de este la consumación del idealismo del Estado y la santificación de la vida burguesa. Finalmente, muestro cómo el análisis del modo de vida político recae, en Marx, en una reformulación del problema, desde la observación del judío de todos los días, de la práctica y la vida cotidiana de la sociedad civil, hacia una crítica de la vida burguesa y su culto al dios Dinero, que permita vislumbrar lo que sería una verdadera emancipación de los hombres de sus mediaciones religiosas.The text I present below shows the limit of political life, from the analysis made by Marx, in On the Jewish question, about the Jews´ rights within the German State in 1843. Taking as a goal the task proposed by the author, the human emancipation, I approach to our mode of life critique, that selfish life we lead as individuals within the democratic state, and that it is necessary to overcome. From the constant dialogue between Marx and Bauer, I show the author's process to face the theological (enlightened) argument about Jewish citizenship, in order to discover the split and contradiction of political life. In addition, I analyze the historical process by which the feudal world became political, expressed in the idealism of the State consummation and the bourgeois life sanctification. Finally, I show how the analysis of the political mode of life falls, by Marx, in a problem reformulation, from the observation of the everyday Jew, the practice and daily life of civil society, to a critique of bourgeois life and its worldly religion to the god Money. The ecology and biostratigraphy of Lower Cretaceous foraminifera of the North Sea Basin

The Early Cretaceous witnessed a progressive rise in global sea level (following the marked global low stand at the end of the Jurassic). Global temperature also rose, and species richness increased for some calcifying marine organisms – gastropods, bivalves, ostracods, calcareous nannoplankton, and foraminifera among them. This project investigates Early Cretaceous foraminiferal assemblages from a range of depositional settings and palaeodepths in the North Sea Basin and the surrounding region to study the impact of global and local environmental changes on foraminifera communities from both shallow and deep-water. This study will aim at understanding key ecological shifts that ultimately provided the opportunity for diversification within the foraminifera. The fossil material studied was obtained from the following sites: 1. Filey Bay outcrop section, and 2. North Fordon G1 borehole from the Cleveland Basin in Yorkshire, which represent the shelfal environment. 3. 16/26-B3, and 4. 15/30-7 ST2 boreholes from the Britannia Field in the Witch Ground Graben. 5. North Jens-1 borehole from the Danish Central Graben. The last three sites represent the upper bathyal environment. The results of this project provided information regarding three initial hypotheses involving increasing species richness and ecological niches expansion for planktic, benthic calcareous and agglutinated foraminifera as each of these foraminiferal groups was found to increase in species richness and abundance in specific stages of the Lower Cretaceous. However, for agglutinated foraminifera, their initial hypothesis could not be confirmed entirely because the palaeodepths of the upper bathyal environment were not significant enough to develop a proper deep-water agglutinated foraminiferal assemblage

Aplicación del sistema Last Planner en la construcción de la vivienda multifamiliar Las Tunas, Salamanca, Ate - 2017

La investigación realizada tuvo como objetivo principal, mejorar la planificación de la construcción de la vivienda multifamiliar Las Tunas, Salamanca, Ate – 2017. El tipo de investigación fue aplicada, nivel de investigación correlacional y diseño de investigación no experimental. Se utilizó como población el Proyecto Las Tunas, establecido en Ate, y la muestra también fue el Proyecto Las Tunas. La validez del instrumento se obtuvo mediante el juicio de expertos. La recolección de datos se obtuvo a través de formatos de planificación semanal. El análisis de datos llegó a evidenciar que el sistema Last Planner, permite reducir la variabilidad en la construcción de la vivienda multifamiliar Las Tunas, Salamanca, Ate – 2017
