Enhancement of dielectric barrier layer properties by sol-gel and PECVD stacks
Thin-film PV modules grown on flexible, light weight, thermally stable and low cost substrates such as stainless steel foil, are an attractive product for solar market applications. When metal foils are used as substrate, it is essential to deposit a dielectric barrier layer to isolate electrically and chemically the thin-film solar cells front the substrate. In this work, SiOx stacks deposited on ‘rough’ stainless steel by a combination of a new sol-gel formulation and a Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) deposition step are reported as a suitable dielectric barrier layer candidate. Using these SiOx multilayers, a smooth and homogeneous film was achieved. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that back contact of the solar cell (based on Molybdenum) is not affected by the presence of the barrier layer. Moreover, according to X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS) measurements, this approach led to excellent barrier layer properties against the diffusion of impurities from the stainless steel. Circulating concentrations of free triiodothyronine are associated with central adiposity and cardiometabolic risk factors in young euthyroid adults

However, this relationship remains
unclear in young euthyroid adults. The present work examines the associations of circulating thyroid hormones (THs) and
thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) concentrations with body composition and cardiometabolic risk factors in young euthyroid
adults. A total of 106 sedentary, euthyroid adults (72 women; 22 ± 2 years old) participated in this cross-sectional study. THs
and TSH serum concentrations were determined in fasting conditions (6 h). Body composition (fat mass (FM), lean mass (LM),
and visceral adipose tissue (VAT)) was determined by dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry, anthropometric parameters (weight,
height, and waist circumference) were measured, and neck adipose tissue mass was quantified through computed tomography
(CT) scanning. Cardiometabolic risk factors including fasting glucose and lipid metabolism markers, hepatic phosphatase and
transaminases, and blood pressure were also assessed. Free triiodothyronine (FT3) concentration was positively associated with
body mass index, LM, VAT, and waist circumference (all P ≤ 0.038). FT3 was also associated with glucose, insulin, HOMA-IR,
fatty liver index, and blood pressure (all P < 0.024). All the associations were attenuated when adjusting for sex. In contrast,
we found no associations of TSH or free thyroxine with any body composition parameter or cardiometabolic risk factors. In
conclusion, FT3 is associated with central adiposity and cardiometabolic risk factors including insulin resistance, fatty liver
index, and mean, systolic and diastolic blood pressure in young euthyroid adults. LEARNING STYLES IN HYBRID EDUCATION PROCESSES
A documentary review was carried out on the production and publication of research papers related to the study of the variables Learning Styles and Hybrid Education. The purpose of the bibliometric analysis proposed in this paper was to know the main characteristics of the volume of publications registered in the Scopus database during the period 2016-2021, achieving the identification of 92 publications. The information provided by the said platform was organized through tables and figures, categorizing the information by Year of Publication, Country of Origin, Area of Knowledge and Type of Publication. Once these characteristics were described, the position of different authors regarding the proposed topic was referenced by applying qualitative analysis. Among the main findings of this research, it is found that the United States, with 26 publications, was the country with the highest scientific production registered in the name of authors affiliated with institutions of that country. The Knowledge Area that made the greatest contribution to the construction of bibliographic material referring to the study of the different learning styles in hybrid education processes was Computer Science with 49 published documents, and the type of publication that was most used during the above-mentioned period was the conference article, which represents 53% of the total scientific production
Enhancing the liquid phase exfoliation of graphite in both aqueous and organic mixtures
Two different solvent mixtures, aqueous and organic, were used in the graphite liquid phase exfoliation. These solvent mixtures were selected through a detailed study of Hansen Solubility Parameters. Different operational sonication parameters (sonication temperature, cycle, amplitude and time) were studied in order to analyze their influence over the exfoliation process. Exfoliated graphite obtained after different sonication conditions were further characterized by RAMAN spectroscopy and thermogravimetric techniques. Obtained results showed that, among all the studied sonication parameters, time is the most important one due to its influence over characteristics of the final exfoliated product. Thus, it was evidenced the defect formation at higher sonication times, being dominant the growth of bulk defects in the structure of exfoliated samples at sonication times superior to 5 hours. As consequence, a careful tuning of the sonication parameters is necessary in order to obtain exfoliated samples with low disorder.Se utilizaron dos mezclas de disolventes diferentes, acuosa y orgánica, en la exfoliación en fase lÃquida de grafito. Estas mezclas de disolventes se seleccionaron mediante un estudio detallado de los parámetros de solubilidad de Hansen. Se estudiaron diferentes parámetros operativos de sonicación (temperatura, ciclo, amplitud y tiempo de sonicación) para analizar su influencia sobre el proceso de exfoliación. El grafito exfoliado obtenido después de diferentes condiciones de sonicación se caracterizó aún más mediante espectroscopia RAMAN y técnicas termogravimétricas. Los resultados obtenidos mostraron que, entre todos los parámetros de sonicación estudiados, el tiempo es el más importante debido a su influencia sobre las caracterÃsticas del producto final exfoliado. AsÃ, se evidenció la formación de defectos a mayores tiempos de sonicación, siendo dominante el crecimiento de defectos de volumen en la estructura de muestras exfoliadas a tiempos de sonicación superiores a 5 horas. Influence of the electric field on the latent heat of the ferroelectric phase transition in KDP
The specific heat, heat flux (DTA trace) and dielectric constant of KDP
ferroelectric crystal have been measured simultaneously for various electric
fields with a conduction calorimeter. The specific heat presents a strong
anomaly but these simultaneous measurements allow us to evaluate the latent
heat accurately. Latent heat decreases with field and the value of critical
electric field --that where latent heat disappears-- is estimated to be
(0.44\pm0.03) kV/cm. Incidentally, we have measured simultaneously the
dielectric permittivity which suggests that latent heat is developed as domains

Characterization of an enhanced antigenic change in the pandemic 2009 H1N1 influenza virus haemagglutinin
Murine hybridomas producing neutralizing mAbs specific to the pandemic influenza virus A/California/07/2009 haemagglutinin (HA) were isolated. These antibodies recognized at least two different but overlapping new epitopes that were conserved in the HA of most Spanish pandemic isolates. However, one of these isolates (A/Extremadura/RR6530/2010) lacked reactivity with the mAbs and carried two unique mutations in the HA head (S88Y and K136N) that were required simultaneously to eliminate reactivity with the murine antibodies. This unusual requirement directly illustrates the phenomenon of enhanced antigenic change proposed previously for the accumulation of simultaneous amino acid substitutions at antigenic sites of the influenza A virus HA during virus evolution (Shih et al., Proc Natl Acad Sci USA, 104 , 6283-6288, 2007). The changes found in the A/Extremadura/RR6530/2010 HA were not found in escape mutants selected in vitro with one of the mAbs, which contained instead nearby single amino acid changes in the HA head. Thus, either single or double point mutations may similarly alter epitopes of the new antigenic site identified in this work in the 2009 H1N1 pandemic virus HA. Moreover, this site is relevant for the human antibody response, as shown by competition of mAbs and human post-infection sera for virus binding. The results are discussed in the context of the HA antigenic structure and challenges posed for identification of sequence changes with possible antigenic impact during virus surveillance.This work was supported in part by grants GR09/0023 (A. Giant pulmonary artery aneurysm in a patient with vasoreactive pulmonary hypertension: a case report
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Pulmonary artery aneurysms are a rare condition, frequently associated with pulmonary hypertension. However, the evolution and treatment of this pathology is still not clear.</p> <p>Case Presentation</p> <p>The authors report a case of a 65-year old patient with pulmonary artery aneurysm associated with pulmonary arterial hypertension. Due to a positive vasoreactivity test, treatment with calcium channel blockers was started with near normalization of the right cardiac pressures. Nevertheless, after 20 months of treatment, the pulmonary artery aneurysm size remained unchanged with an associated severe pulmonary regurgitation and causing extrinsic compression of the main left coronary artery. Surgical correction was successfully performed.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>This is the first case report of a pulmonary artery aneurysm described to be associated with vasoreactive pulmonary hypertension in a living patient. Although medical therapy for pulmonary hypertension was started, surgical correction of the aneurysm was executed in order to prevent its future complications.</p
Axicabtagene ciloleucel compared to tisagenlecleucel for the treatment of aggressive B-cell lymphoma
Axicabtagene ciloleucel (axi-cel) and tisagenlecleucel (tisa-cel) are CD19-targeted chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells approved for relapsed/refractory (R/R) large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL). We performed a retrospective study to evaluate safety and efficacy of axi-cel and tisa-cel outside the setting of a clinical trial. Data from consecutive patients with R/R LBCL who underwent apheresis for axi-cel or tisa-cel were retrospectively collected from 12 Spanish centers. A total of 307 patients underwent apheresis for axi-cel (n=152) and tisa-cel (n=155) from November 2018 to August 2021, of which 261 (85%) received a CAR T infusion (88% and 82%, respectively). Median time from apheresis to infusion was 41 days for axi-cel and 52 days for tisa-cel (P=0.006). None of the baseline characteristics were significantly different between both cohorts. Both cytokine release syndrome and neurologic events (NE) were more frequent in the axi-cel group (88% vs. 73%, P=0.003, and 42% vs. 16%, P= 2 and progressive disease before lympho-depletion. Safety and efficacy results in our real-world experience were comparable with those reported in the pivotal trials. Patients treated with axi-cel experienced more toxicity but similar non-relapse mortality compared with those re-ceiving tisa-cel. Efficacy was not significantly different between both products
