Building a corpus of spoken Galician language. The CORILGA project

The CORILGA (Corpus Oral Informatizado de la Lengua Gallega) is a corpus of recordings aligned with their transcription and annotated at different levels (spelling, phonetic, morphological, syntactic...). A complete and thorough recordings and participants data allows, through an online open search engine, to get very accurate search results. This information could be used in language variation and change studies and to create materials for teaching or developing speech technology.El CORILGA (Corpus Oral Informatizado da Lingua Galega) es un corpus de grabaciones alineadas con su transcripción y anotadas en distintos niveles (ortográfico, fonético, morfológico…). Una codificación completa y minuciosa de los datos de las grabaciones y de los informantes permite, mediante un buscador online abierto al público, conseguir unos resultados de búsqueda muy precisos. Esta información se podría utilizar para la realización de estudios de variación y cambio lingüístico, así como para crear materiales para la enseñanza o desarrollar tecnologías del habla

Creatividad y tecnología : influencias mutuas para un enfoque docente

A veces, cuando se crea un mensaje publicitario, puede suceder que las prioridades del anunciante, el equipo creativo y la empresa de producción no coincidan: el anunciante querrá el mejor aspecto posible dentro de un presupuesto; el equipo creativo un trabajo espectacular; y las empresas de producción, diponer de piezas que se puedan reproducir industrialmente, con la calidad exigida por su cliente. Cuando los intereses no coinciden aparecen los problemas, ¿cómo evitarlo? Creemos que si, desde las plataformas académicas, enseñamos a los futuros creativos los conocimientos técnicos necesarios mejorará su producto creativo.Sometimes when an advertisement is created, it can happen that the priorities and goals of the advertiser, the creative team and the production enterprise may not match: the advertiser will want the best possible appearance within their budget; the creative team hopes a spectacular job; and production enterprises, expects all parties can be produced with the quality required by the customer. Propuesta de una metodología docente para aprender diseño gráfico en el marco del Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior

La asignatura de Diseño y Comunicación Gráfica, correspondiente a la Licenciatura de Publicidad y Relaciones Públicas de la UAB, se imparte desde el curso 2004-2005 en el marco del EEES con créditos ECTS. El objetivo básico de la asignatura es dotar a los alumnos de la capacidad necesaria para: (1) interpretar un mensaje gráfico (2)tratar con los profesionales que forman parte de la industria gráfica (3) tomar conciencia del papel que desempeña el diseñador en el proceso gráfico y capacitarlos para que sean capaces de proponer formulaciones visuales eficientes que congenien con el contenido del mensaje, usando para ello las aplicaciones informáticas necesarias. En esta comunicación vamos a presentar la metodología que aplicamos en la docencia de esta asignatura. Para adecuarla a los objetivos de formación de nuestros alumnos, analizamos los conocimientos, habilidades y competencias propias del perfil de diseñador gráfico. Más de 100 alumnos y cuatro profesores están implicados, por lo que en algún momento se produjo algún desajuste. Pero, a pesar de todo, creemos que es una metodología eficaz para optimizar el aprendizaje de materias teórico-prácticas en el marco del EEES

Aspirin plus ticlopidine prevented experimental endocarditis due to Enterococcus faecalis and Streptococcus gallolyticus

Enterococcus faecalis and Streptococcus gallolyticus cause infective endocarditis (IE), which can originate from the continuous release or translocation of low bacterial numbers into the bloodstream. In this context, IE cannot be prevented with antibiotics. We previously demonstrated that aspirin plus ticlopidine protected rats from IE due to S. gordonii and Staphylococcus aureus. Here we showed that aspirin plus ticlopidine significantly reduced vegetation weight and protected 73 and 64% rats (P < 0.005) from IE due to E. faecalis and S. gallolyticus, respectively. These results further support the potential use of aspirin plus ticlopidine for a global prevention of IE in high-risk patient

Prophylaxis of Experimental Endocarditis With Antiplatelet and Antithrombin Agents: A Role for Long-term Prevention of Infective Endocarditis in Humans?

Background. Infective endocarditis (IE) mostly occurs after spontaneous low-grade bacteremia. Thus, IE cannot be prevented by circumstantial antibiotic prophylaxis. Platelet activation following bacterial-fibrinogen interaction or thrombin-mediated fibrinogen-fibrin polymerization is a critical step in vegetation formation. We tested the efficacy of antiplatelet and antithrombin to prevent experimental IE. Methods. A rat model of experimental IE following prolonged low-grade bacteremia mimicking smoldering bacteremia in humans was used. Prophylaxis with antiplatelets (aspirin, ticlopidine [alone or in combination], eptifibatide, or abciximab) or anticoagulants (antithrombin dabigatran etexilate or anti-vitamin K acenocoumarol) was started 2 days before inoculation with Streptococcus gordonii or Staphylococcus aureus. Valve infection was assessed 24 hours later. Results. Aspirin plus ticlopidine, as well as abciximab, protected 45%-88% of animals against S. gordonii and S. aureus IE (P < .05). Dabigatran etexilate protected 75% of rats against IE due to S. aureus (P < .005) but failed to protect against S. gordonii (<30% protection). Acenocoumarol was ineffective. Conclusions. Antiplatelet and direct antithrombin agents may be useful in the prophylaxis of IE in humans. In particular, the potential dual benefit of dabigatran etexilate might be reconsidered for patients with prosthetic valves, who require life-long anticoagulation and in whom S. aureus IE is associated with high mortalit

El projecte presentat en aquest document formal conté la proposta per a la nova marca de vins Enjoyme, el projecte consta de la creació de diverses peces gràfiques per tal de construir una proposta global per a la marca. L'encàrrec per part del client consta de: construcció de marca Enjoyme (logotip), lloc web enfocat a la venda on line, packaging del producte, OPI i revista digital. Cadascuna d'aquestes peces es troba explicada detalladament dins d'aquest document amb les seves respectives especificacions creatives, tècniques, estratègiques i econòmiques. El concepte creatiu d'aquesta campanya "Cultiva els teus sentits" està reflectit en cadascuna de les peces, formant un equilibri en conjunt. La idea central de la campanya s'enfoca a transmetre als clients totes les sensacions que li pot donar la natura en ser humà, tenint en compte l'orgànic i biodinàmic com a part fonamental del projecte, ja que aquest producte elaborat amb aquest tipus d'agricultura.El proyecto presentado contiene una propuesta para la nueva marca de vinos Enjoyme, el proyecto consta de la creación de varias piezas gráficas con el fin de construir una propuesta global para la marca. Fosfomycin plus Beta-lactams: Synergistic Bactericidal Combinations in Methicillin-resistant (MRSA) and Glycopeptide-Intermediate Resistant (GISA) Staphylococcus aureus Experimental Endocarditis

The urgent need of effective therapies for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infective endocarditis (IE) is a cause of concern. We aimed to ascertain the in vitro and in vivo activity of the older antibiotic fosfomycin combined with different beta-lactams against MRSA and glycopeptide-intermediate-resistant S. aureus (GISA) strains. Time-kill tests with 10 isolates showed that fosfomycin plus imipenem (FOF+IPM) was the most active evaluated combination. In an aortic valve IE model with two strains (MRSA-277H and GISA-ATCC 700788), the following intravenous regimens were compared: fosfomycin (2 g every 8 h [q8h]) plus imipenem (1 g q6h) or ceftriaxone (2 g q12h) (FOF+CRO) and vancomycin at a standard dose (VAN-SD) (1 g q12h) and a high dose (VAN-HD) (1 g q6h). Whereas a significant reduction of MRSA-227H load in the vegetations (veg) was observed with FOF+IPM compared with VAN-SD (0 [interquartile range [IQR], 0 to 1] versus 2 [IQR, 0 to 5.1] log CFU/g veg; P = 0.01), no statistical differences were found with VAN-HD. In addition, FOF+IPM sterilized more vegetations than VAN-SD (11/15 [73%] versus 5/16 [31%]; P = 0.02). The GISA-ATCC 700788 load in the vegetations was significantly lower after FOF+IPM or FOF+CRO treatment than with VAN-SD (2 [IQR, 0 to 2] and 0 [IQR, 0 to 2] versus 6.5 [IQR, 2 to 6.9] log CFU/g veg; P < 0.01). The number of sterilized vegetations after treatment with FOF+CRO was higher than after treatment with VAN-SD or VAN-HD (8/15 [53%] versus 4/20 [20%] or 4/20 [20%]; P = 0.03). To assess the effect of FOF+IPM on penicillin binding protein (PBP) synthesis, molecular studies were performed, with results showing that FOF+IPM treatment significantly decreased PBP1, PBP2 (but not PBP2a), and PBP3 synthesis.
