The Avoidance Spectrum of Alexandroff Spaces
In this paper we prove that every T0 Alexandroff topological space (, ) is homeomorphic to the avoidance of a subspace of (Spec(Λ), ), where Spec(Λ) denotes the prime spectrum of a semi-ring Λ induced by , and is the Zariski topology. We also prove that (Spec(Λ), ) is an Alexandroff space if and only if Λ satisfies the Gilmer property
Low separation axioms via the diagonal
[EN] In the context of a generalized topology g on a set X, we give in this article characterizations of some separation axioms between T0 and T2 in terms of properties of the diagonal in X × X.The authors would like to thank the partial support provided by the Universidad de Los Andes CDCHT grant A-1335-05-05.Colasante, ML.; Uzcátegui, C.; Vielma, J. Influencia de cianamida hidrogenada (dormex) y tuneles plasticos en arandano arbustos alto (cv. bluecrop) y ojo conejo (cv.tifblue) en la VII Region.
The imminent emergence of 5G networks in the Chilean telecommunications market has made it essential to anticipate the possible imbalances that these could reach when any of the earthquakes that repeatedly strike the country occurs. To do this, a methodology based on conventional linear elastic analysis, both spectral modal and time-history, has been formulated to estimate the induced displacements for two different levels of strong ground movements, based on seismic records obtained in the subduction zone. The results obtained have served to obtain fairly adjusted analytical expressions, formulated from a single system variable, the height of the level, so that they can be used to quickly estimate the lateral displacements of the 5G antennas that will be networked, by personnel who has no training in structural dynamics, but who will be in charge of making the adjustments in the 5G network nodes
Mutations related to Antiretroviral Resistance identified by ultra-deep sequencing in HIV-1 infected children under Structured Interruptions of HAART
Altres ajuts: CONACYT/GCPS/44519Although Structured Treatment Interruptions (STI) are currently not considered an alternative strategy for antiretroviral treatment, their true benefits and limitations have not been fully established. Some studies suggest the possibility of improving the quality of life of patients with this strategy; however, the information that has been obtained corresponds mostly to studies conducted in adults, with a lack of knowledge about its impact on children. Furthermore, mutations associated with antiretroviral resistance could be selected due to sub-therapeutic levels of HAART at each interruption period. Genotyping methods to determine the resistance profiles of the infecting viruses have become increasingly important for the management of patients under STI, thus low-abundance antiretroviral drug-resistant mutations (DRM's) at levels under limit of detection of conventional genotyping (<20% of quasispecies) could increase the risk of virologic failure. In this work, we analyzed the protease and reverse transcriptase regions of the pol gene by ultra-deep sequencing in pediatric patients under STI with the aim of determining the presence of high- and low-abundance DRM's in the viral rebounds generated by the STI. High-abundance mutations in protease and high- and low-abundance mutations in reverse transcriptase were detected but no one of these are directly associated with resistance to antiretroviral drugs. The results could suggest that the evaluated STI program is virologically safe, but strict and carefully planned studies, with greater numbers of patients and interruption/restart cycles, are still needed to evaluate the selection of DRM's during STI
Mycobacterium tuberculosis promotes genomic instability in macrophages
BACKGROUND Mycobacterium tuberculosis is an intracellular pathogen, which may either block cellular defensive mechanisms and survive inside the host cell or induce cell death. Several studies are still exploring the mechanisms involved in these processes. OBJECTIVES To evaluate the genomic instability of M. tuberculosis-infected macrophages and compare it with that of uninfected macrophages. METHODS We analysed the possible variations in the genomic instability of Mycobacterium-infected macrophages using the DNA breakage detection fluorescence in situ hybridisation (DBD-FISH) technique with a whole human genome DNA probe. FINDINGS Quantitative image analyses showed a significant increase in DNA damage in infected macrophages as compared with uninfected cells. DNA breaks were localised in nuclear membrane blebs, as confirmed with DNA fragmentation assay. Furthermore, a significant increase in micronuclei and nuclear abnormalities were observed in infected macrophages versus uninfected cells. MAIN CONCLUSIONS Genomic instability occurs during mycobacterial infection and these data may be seminal for future research on host cell DNA damage in M. tuberculosis infection.
