The influences of religious attributes of halal products on export marketing strategy: preliminary findings

    Get PDF
Marketing halal products in an international setting warrants additional care not only in meeting the specificity of the target markets but also in securing the 'halalness' aspect of the products. In relation to product attributes, Muslim consumers particularly are more sensitive to the integrity of the halal status than other quality aspects of the product. As Islamic values are attached to products, the religious attributes of halal products are expected to play a role in influencing the implementation of the export marketing strategy. Based on face-to-face interviews with the experts from Mufti, HDC and MATRADE office, and also halal food exporters, the qualitative findings have revealed two main dimensions of halal product attributes and seven emerged themes on the export marketing strategies. The findings have given some thought on the development of the export marketing theory, specifically on the marketing programme adaptation in the context of the halal industry

Polynomial Time and Private Learning of Unbounded Gaussian Mixture Models

We study the problem of privately estimating the parameters of dd-dimensional Gaussian Mixture Models (GMMs) with kk components. For this, we develop a technique to reduce the problem to its non-private counterpart. This allows us to privatize existing non-private algorithms in a blackbox manner, while incurring only a small overhead in the sample complexity and running time. As the main application of our framework, we develop an (ε,δ)(\varepsilon, \delta)-differentially private algorithm to learn GMMs using the non-private algorithm of Moitra and Valiant [MV10] as a blackbox. Consequently, this gives the first sample complexity upper bound and first polynomial time algorithm for privately learning GMMs without any boundedness assumptions on the parameters. As part of our analysis, we prove a tight (up to a constant factor) lower bound on the total variation distance of high-dimensional Gaussians which can be of independent interest.Comment: Accepted in ICML 202

Cervical Laminoplasty for Multilevel Cervical Myelopathy

    Get PDF
Cervical spondylotic myelopathy can result from degenerative cervical spondylosis, herniated disk material, osteophytes, redundant ligamentum flavum, or ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament. Surgical intervention for multi-level myelopathy aims to decompress the spinal cord and maintain stability of the cervical spine. Laminoplasty was major surgical advancement as laminectomy resulted in kyphosis and unsatisfactory outcomes. Hirabayashi popularised the expansive open door laminoplasty which was later modified several surgeons. Laminoplasty has changed the way surgeons approach multilevel cervical spondylotic myelopathy

Malaria is a most dangerous mosquito borne disease and its infection spread through the infected mosquito. It especially affects the pregnant females and Children less than 5 years age. Malarial species commonly occur in five different shapes, Therefore, to avoid this crucial disease the contemporary researchers have proposed image analysis based solutions to mitigate this death causing disease. In this work, we propose diagnosis algorithm for malaria which is implemented for testing and evaluation in Matlab. We use Filtering and classification along with median filter and SVM classifier. Our proposed method identifies the infected cells from rest of blood images. The Median filtering smoothing technique is used to remove the noise. The feature vectors have been proposed to find out the abnormalities in blood cells. Feature vectors include (Form factor, measurement of roundness, shape, count total number of red cells and parasites). Primary aim of this research is to diagnose malaria by finding out infected cells. However, many techniques and algorithm have been implemented in this field using image processing but accuracy is not up to the point. Our proposed algorithm got more efficient results along with high accuracy as compared to NCC and Fuzzy classifier used by the researchers recently

Application of advanced energy storage materials in direct solar desalination: A state of art review

    Get PDF
Storage of the thermal energy of solar intensity has a significant effect on the efficiency of desalination systems at nighttime, when solar intensity is not available. Solar energy provides the potential to facilitate the freshwater needs of small communities, where access to potable water is commonly limited. However, freshwater generation formation via solar stills remains low when compared to other desalination methods. Hence, multiple innovative materials for efficient water production by solar stills have been invetsigated in the literature, where this is addressed on a wide scale in this comprehensive review. This includes a focus on innovative materials including nanomaterials, nanofluids, nanoparticles-based phase change materials (PCMs), composite PCMs, PCMs with porous materials and PCMs with heat pipes. The review\u27s outcomes identify that advanced energy storage materials substantially influence the enhancement of solar still productivity as compared to conventional solar stills. The results indicate that the application of thermosyphon heat pipes with PCM more than doubles the performance of solar still water productivity. The productivity of solar desalination can also be improved by utilizing PCM/porous materials, with results indicating solar still water productivity to be enhanced by between 40 and 70%. A cost analysis as well as an environmental evaluation of PCM-based solar desalination is also compiled in this review. A summary of the current status, leading groups, journals, and countries related to advanced energy storage materials in solar desalination is presented. Lastly, recommendations related to advanced energy storage materials in solar desalination are noted, assisting researchers to explore efficient water treatment methods

The highly growth on semiconductor manufacturing field makes the expertise on the semiconductor manufacturer industry keep on struggle to create higher speed, smaller, highly integrated and more reliable and powerful chips for various needs. The new technology in making chips process continuously developed to produce goods semiconductor. Product and process optimization was a crucial part in manufacturing production line to produce high volume throughput with reducing in lead times, engineering changes and development cost but with higher quality. Engineering particularly decisions be the most important side in making the process properly in reaching the zero defect target. Every single thing has to be concerned, whether it is from technical parts to managerial parts in order to ensure the process going smoothly and efficiently with excellent quality. For this project, I am going deeper inside the chips assembling process whereby the post Ultra Violet curing process on Die Attach film, DAF tape have been experimented by using Taguchi approach for the process to produce better chips on stacked die package. An application of experimental design, based upon the works of Dr.Genichi Taguchi was conducted at the die attach film (DAF) curing operation. The experiment focused on parameter design, the determination of the DAF operation parameters that significantly affect the quality and semiconductor chip reliability ofthe wafer mounted on wafer ring during curing and selecting the optimum parameter level combination. In semiconductor manufacturing industry, the usage of epoxy resin bleed is no longer convenient in producing thin die stacked package with high volume. Hence, industry in about to move to the Die attach film (DAF) tape type to replace with the epoxy resin bleed. The new process should the tape go through is UV curing process, indeed the characteristics ofthe tape adhesion affecting much to yield and quality. Parameter optimization has resulted to a reduction in die defects and adjustment of the mean to the nominal of zero defects for all the quality characteristics. Continuations on the optimizing UV curing DAF tape process is moving on with the inspection data gathered which is die shear strength, top and flip side chipped and tape residue whiskering. Furthermore, evaluation effect onto the process which is the die shear strength test, inspection has been taken into account particularly. Proper planning on the control factors and responses for the process were managed accordingly by using Taguchi approach for necessary information. Implementation of the optimum condition has resulted to about 50% reduction of defects and failures
