Robust low loss splicing of hollow core photonic bandgap fiber to itself

    No full text
Robust, low loss (0.16dB) splicing of hollow core photonic band gap fiber to itself is presented. Modal content is negligibly affected by splicing, enabling penalty-free 40Gbit/s data transmission over > 200m of spliced PBGF

Data transmission over 1km HC-PBGF arranged with microstructured fiber spliced to both itself and SMF

    No full text
Validation of novel splicing strategy enabling integration of hollow-core photonic band gap fiber with both itself and conventional SMF is presented. Self-splices are robust and low loss (0.16dB). Penalty-free 40Gbit/s data transmission is demonstrated in 1km arrangement of spliced HC-PBGF

First demonstration of a low loss 37-cell hollow core photonic bandgap fiber and its use for data transmission

A low loss (4.5dB/km) 37-cell core HC-PBGF is reported for the first time. Detailed modal analysis using time of flight and S2 techniques, and error-free 40Gbit/s single mode data transmission are presented

First demonstration of a broadband 37-cell hollow core photonic bandgap fiber and its application to high capacity mode division multiplexing

We report fabrication of the first low-loss, broadband 37-cell photonic bandgap fiber. Exploiting absence of surface modes and low cross-talk in the fiber we demonstrate mode division multiplexing over three modes with record transmission capacity

Genetic and epigenetic inactivation of SESTRIN1 controls mTORC1 and response to EZH2 inhibition in follicular lymphoma.

Follicular lymphoma (FL) is an incurable form of B cell lymphoma. Genomic studies have cataloged common genetic lesions in FL such as translocation t(14;18), frequent losses of chromosome 6q, and mutations in epigenetic regulators such as javax.xml.bind.JAXBElement@4375628f Using a focused genetic screen, we identified javax.xml.bind.JAXBElement@76a4bdfb as a relevant target of the 6q deletion and demonstrate tumor suppression by javax.xml.bind.JAXBElement@26a2409a in vivo. Moreover, javax.xml.bind.JAXBElement@3203074e is a direct target of the lymphoma-specific javax.xml.bind.JAXBElement@5a0a6a9b gain-of-function mutation ( javax.xml.bind.JAXBElement@9925f44 javax.xml.bind.JAXBElement@3d00687c ). javax.xml.bind.JAXBElement@179321e5 inactivation disrupts p53-mediated control of mammalian target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) and enables mRNA translation under genotoxic stress. javax.xml.bind.JAXBElement@1e44df3e loss represents an alternative to javax.xml.bind.JAXBElement@5b7cbcd mutations that maintain mTORC1 activity under nutrient starvation. The antitumor efficacy of pharmacological EZH2 inhibition depends on SESTRIN1, indicating that mTORC1 control is a critical function of EZH2 in lymphoma. Conversely, javax.xml.bind.JAXBElement@3bca108f javax.xml.bind.JAXBElement@3558921a mutant lymphomas show increased sensitivity to RapaLink-1, a bifunctional mTOR inhibitor. Hence, SESTRIN1 contributes to the genetic and epigenetic control of mTORC1 in lymphoma and influences responses to targeted therapies

Shared and Study-specific Dietary Patterns and Head and Neck Cancer Risk in an International Consortium.

A few papers have considered reproducibility of a posteriori dietary patterns across populations, as well as pattern associations with head and neck cancer risk when multiple populations are available. We used individual-level pooled data from seven case-control studies (3844 cases; 6824 controls) participating in the International Head and Neck Cancer Epidemiology consortium. We simultaneously derived shared and study-specific a posteriori patterns with a novel approach called multi-study factor analysis applied to 23 nutrients. We derived odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for cancers of the oral cavity and pharynx combined, and larynx, from logistic regression models. We identified three shared patterns that were reproducible across studies (75% variance explained): the Antioxidant vitamins and fiber (OR = 0.57, 95% CI = 0.41, 0.78, highest versus lowest score quintile) and the Fats (OR = 0.80, 95% CI = 0.67, 0.95) patterns were inversely associated with oral and pharyngeal cancer risk. The Animal products and cereals (OR = 1.5, 95% CI = 1.1, 2.1) and the Fats (OR = 1.8, 95% CI = 1.4, 2.3) patterns were positively associated with laryngeal cancer risk, whereas a linear inverse trend in laryngeal cancer risk was evident for the Antioxidant vitamins and fiber pattern. We also identified four additional study-specific patterns, one for each of the four US studies examined. We named them all as Dairy products and breakfast cereals, and two were associated with oral and pharyngeal cancer risk. Multi-study factor analysis provides insight into pattern reproducibility and supports previous evidence on cross-country reproducibility of dietary patterns and on their association with head and neck cancer risk. Som en hÄrd spagetti som blivit kokt : Gymnasieelevers upplevelser av muntlig framstÀllning

I dagens samhÀlle blir mÀnniskans kommunikationsförmÄga allt viktigare, sÄ Àven i skolan.
