Escritoras de la posguerra frente al espejo. Derrotas y conquistas de algunas antiheroínas

    Get PDF
This article takes as a starting point the autobiographical material of two writers of the post-war era: Carmen Laforet and Carmen Martín Gaite. Following the method of historical genealogy, this research deals with the weight exerted on their lives by the socialization processes, forms and strategies that these authors made use of, where they could, to break with the device of feminization - understood as a program of women's domestication. The article also explores the different images that they developed of themselves as embodiments of their more or less successful struggle to gain greater independence and autonomy

If we examine “Nubosidad variable” in terms of the critical method established by Gérard Genette in “Figuras 111”, we can see a novel that, with a constant metafictious background, offers a double homodiegetic narrator —at times, interdiegetic, at others, extradiegetic— as well as multiple points of view. Through this multiplicity of perspectives, the reader is acquainted whith the story of the parallel evolutions of two women with a common background in search of their identity, which is conditioned by their self-recognition as interlocutors. On their attempt to mend a jigsaw puzzle of their lives jumbled up' by the ravages of time, the two women gradually draw close to each other by means of their writing.notPeerReviewe

Minor architectures can be defined as an open set of spatial practices and know-hows based on the agency of bodies. While these practices escape representation, codification or measurement, they have a fertile relation with literature. After framing this relationship, we analyze the work of three women writers (Carmen Martín Gaite, Ali Smith and Toni Morrison) to unveil them as minor spatial and material practitioners. While they have not been trained as architects many women throughout history have practiced and organized space in meaningful and wise ways, and they have become aware of minor spatial knowledges resting at the core of what architecture can be (and do). By inventing forms of embodied writing and material inscription, they have expanded a minor repertoire of spatial practices.

Diffusion length measurements of thin GaAs solar cells by means of energetic electrons

    Get PDF
A calculation of the short circuit current density (j sub sc) of a thin GaAs solar cell induced by fast electrons is presented. It is shown that in spite of the disparity in thickness between the N-type portion of the junction and the P-type portion of the junction, the measurement of the bulk diffusion length L sub p of the N-type part of the junction is seriously hampered due to the presence of a sizable contribution to the j sub sc from the P-type region of the junction. Corrections of up to 50% had to be made in order to interpret the data correctly. Since these corrections were not amenable to direct measurements it is concluded that the electron beam method for the determination of the bulk minority carrier diffusion length, which works so well for Si solar cells, is a poor method when applied to thin GaAs cells

Criticism has no doubts when emphasizing the predominant position of realism in the second half of 20th century Spanish short stories; however, the prevalence of aesthetic streams out of this tendency all through the post-war period have been hardly pondered. This paper discuss the production of some significant members of the so-called “Mediosiglo” generation, who, although they choose a kind of compromised and testimonial literature, are also interested in the practice of non realistic forms. This is the case for Ana María Matute and Medardo Fraile, whose stories go into the symbolic existentialism in depth and, sometimes, culminate inthe marvellous genre, or for Juan Eduardo Zúñiga and Alfonso Sastre, who use the fantastic genre with the purpose of stepping up the message of denounce of the literary work
