The Role of Financial Literacy in Gender-based Violence: Developing Financial Freedom and Confidence for Women

    Get PDF
In more recent years, many governments worldwide at their different levels have started to recognize intimate partner violence (IPV) as an epidemic and serious matter of public health and safety. Despite this, there is still a level of work to be done to provide women who experience intimate partner violence with the appropriate tools to successfully remove themselves from their abusive environments. This study will look specifically at IPV where economic and financial abuse may be involved and the relationship it has to financial literacy. Economic abuse can be perpetrated through various methods that aim to deprive victims of financial independence, keeping them reliant on their abusers for financial stability. Social policies at the provincial level that aim to implement financial literacy programs is one area that may provide women’s shelters and organizations with adequate resources for women experiencing IPV and economic abuse. In the literature review, the topic of social policy, financial abuse and financial literacy, and intimate partner violence will be explored to provide an outline of the problem. An exploration of an Australian study reveals the benefits and setbacks with applying these curriculums at women’s shelters and within social work. This research and area of social policy proves itself valuable as a model for Canadian governments, primarily provincial jurisdictions, to draw from to develop strong tools in the battle against intimate partner violence

Encryption in general is the process of keeping up the secrecy of data (both fixed and versatile) utilizing programs that can Convert and make an interpretation of that data into codes so that whenever got to by unapproved people doesn't They can comprehend anything since what appears to them is a blend of images, numbers and unlimited characters, the file is encrypted And decryption by password, which must be known to both parties (sender and receiver) This is called With symmetric encryption, Decryption means decryption. The quality and viability of encryption rely upon two key factors: the algorithm, and the key length evaluated by Bit, the higher the bit, the greater the security and difficulty of decrypting. The concept of soft set was studied and applied on the public key cryptography like simple Knapsack and Trapdoor Knapsack ciphers. Significant results were presented that was the measure of the evaluate encryption using the SNR and PSNR

Resolving the basal divisions in the stylommatophoran land snails and slugs with special emphasis on the position of the Scolodontidae

The deep divisions at the base of the stylommatophoran land snails and slugs have proved to be controversial, with the phylogenetic position of the Scolodontidae remaining unresolved. Here we present a phylogenetic analysis of 34 stylommatophoran genera based on a combined dataset (5782 sites) of four loci with the aim of resolving the position of the Scolodontidae and their relationship to the ‘achatinoid’ and ‘non-achatinoid’ clades. We also evaluate the phylogenetic utility of different genes and gene partitions. The deep phylogenetic relationships within the Stylommatophora are now clearly resolved. The Scolodontidae are shown categorically to be the sister group to all other stylommatophoran groups with robust support and with all phylogeny reconstruction methods. The ‘achatinoid’ and ‘non-achatinoid’ clades are also strongly supported in the tree. The original LSU 1-5 fragment used extensively in studies of the Stylommatophora was found to be the most informative gene fragment and works well at resolving relationships at most levels in the Stylommatophora but does not reliably resolve the deep level relationships at the very base of the clade. The concatenated dataset of four genes employed in this study is not only informative at lower levels but also resolves the deep level relationships at the base of the Stylommatophora with robust support

Impact of multiscale dynamical processes and mixing on the chemical composition of the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere during the Intercontinental Chemical Transport Experiment–North America

We use high-frequency in situ observations made from the DC8 to examine fine-scale tracer structure and correlations observed in the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere during INTEX-NA. Two flights of the NASA DC-8 are compared and contrasted. Chemical data from the DC-8 flight on 18 July show evidence for interleaving and mixing of polluted and stratospheric air masses in the vicinity of the subtropical jet in the upper troposphere, while on 2 August the DC-8 flew through a polluted upper troposphere and a lowermost stratosphere that showed evidence of an intrusion of polluted air. We compare data from both flights with RAQMS 3-D global meteorological and chemical model fields to establish dynamical context and to diagnose processes regulating the degree of mixing on each day. We also use trajectory mapping of the model fields to show that filamentary structure due to upstream strain deformation contributes to tracer variability observed in the upper troposphere. An Eulerian measure of strain versus rotation in the large-scale flow is found useful in predicting filamentary structure in the vicinity of the jet. Higher-frequency (6–24 km) tracer variability is attributed to buoyancy wave oscillations in the vicinity of the jet, whose turbulent dissipation leads to efficient mixing across tracer gradients

Optical vortex generation from molecular chromophore arrays

    Get PDF
The generation of light endowed with orbital angular momentum, frequently termed optical vortex light, is commonly achieved by passing a conventional beam through suitably constructed optical elements. This Letter shows that the necessary phase structure for vortex propagation can be directly produced through the creation of twisted light from the vacuum. The mechanism is based on optical emission from a family of chromophore nanoarrays that satisfy specific geometric and symmetry constraints. Each such array can support pairs of electronically delocalized doubly degenerate excitons whose azimuthal phase progression is responsible for the helical wave front of the emitted radiation. The exciton symmetry dictates the maximum magnitude of topological charge; detailed analysis secures the conditions necessary to deliver optical vortices of arbitrary order

Cohen strongly p-summing holomorphic mappings on Banach spaces

Let EE and FF be complex Banach spaces, UU be an open subset of EE and 1≤p≤∞1\leq p\leq\infty. We introduce and study the notion of a Cohen strongly pp-summing holomorphic mapping from UU to FF, a holomorphic version of a strongly pp-summing linear operator. For such mappings, we establish both Pietsch domination/factorization theorems and analyse their linearizations from G∞(U)\mathcal{G}^\infty(U) (the canonical predual of H∞(U)\mathcal{H}^\infty(U)) and their transpositions on H∞(U)\mathcal{H}^\infty(U). Concerning the space DpH∞(U,F)\mathcal{D}_p^{\mathcal{H}^\infty}(U,F) formed by such mappings and endowed with a natural norm dpH∞d_p^{\mathcal{H}^\infty}, we show that it is a regular Banach ideal of bounded holomorphic mappings generated by composition with the ideal of strongly pp-summing linear operators. Moreover, we identify the space (DpH∞(U,F∗),dpH∞)(\mathcal{D}_p^{\mathcal{H}^\infty}(U,F^*),d_p^{\mathcal{H}^\infty}) with the dual of the completion of tensor product space G∞(U)⊗F\mathcal{G}^\infty(U)\otimes F endowed with the Chevet--Saphar norm gpg_p

Confining Flux Tubes in a Current Algebra Approach

We describe flux tubes and their interactions in a low energy sigma model induced by SU(Nf)→SO(Nf)SU({N_f}) \rightarrow SO({N_f}) flavor symmetry breaking in SO(Nc)SO(N_c) QCD. Unlike standard QCD, this model allows gauge confinement to manifest itself in the low energy theory, which has unscreened spinor color sources and global Z2Z_2 flux tubes. We construct the flux tubes and show how they mediate the confinement of spinor sources. We further examine the flux tubes' quantum stability, spectrum and interactions. We find that flux tubes are Alice strings, despite ambiguities in defining parallel transport. Furthermore, twisted loops of flux tube support skyrmion number, just as gauged Alice strings form loops that support monopole charge. This model, while phenomenologically nonviable, thus affords a perspective on both the dynamics of confinement and on subtleties which arise for global Alice strings.Comment: 29 pages (REVTEX) plus 6 figures, two corrections in the final section and added reference

    Get PDF
The present study was conducted to determine the effect of whey protein concentrate (WPC) addition on the commercial low-fat cream's chemical, rheological and sensory properties. WPC was added to the low-fat cream (10% fat)   in ratios of 1.0, 2.5, and 5.0% to represent the treatments C1, C2, and C3, respectively. In addition, a fat-rich, positive control treatment (C +) with a fat percentage of 30% and a negative low-fat control treatment (C-) with a fat percentage of 10% were investigated without adding WPC. Chemical tests were carried out, including the percentage of moisture, protein, fat, carbohydrates, total acidity, and pH, as well as rheological tests that included; hardness, springiness, and Cohesiveness. Also, a sensory evaluation was conducted. The results showed a decrease in the moisture percentage of the added treatments with the increment of the added WPC quantity. Also, a decrease in the fat percentage and pH of the WPC addition treatments was observed, combined with an increment in the percentage of protein, carbohydrates, ash, and total acidity. Regarding the microbiological properties, no bacterial or mycological contamination was observed during the manufacturing and storage periods. The results also showed the improvement of rheological and sensory characteristics by increasing the percentage of WPC addition compared with the positive and negative control treatments. The present study would be helpful in the production of low-fat cream fortified with whey proteins with high nutritional value
