Desde hace unos años atrás, se observa un incremento de los servicios ofrecidos por internet o plataformas online, originado por la preferencia de los consumidores de recibir dichos servicios a domicilio, con el fin de mantener más horas de descanso u ocio en el hogar; o para cubrir otras necesidades. En lo que va del año 2020 el brote de nuevo coronavirus provocó un aislamiento social, que obligando a la población a recurrir a otros canales para abastecerse y satisfacer sus necesidades. Consecuentemente, los canales digitales fuero los que más se acondicionaron a dicha necesidad. El presente proyecto, QuickJob, nace exactamente para cubrir múltiples necesidades que son básicas y comunes en el hogar, pero ofrecidas desde una misma plataforma, de fácil acceso, segura y calificable por el consumidor. Asimismo, los servicios ofrecidos por terceros generarían ingresos adicionales a los interesados en ofrecerlos. Esta visión de negocio, donde, intereses y necesidades se interrelacionan entre sí, bajo una misma plataforma, capaz de ubicar a proveedores y clientes en una radio de acción cercano a sus hogares, es lo que hace atractivo el negocio; ya que, valora una de las necesidades más prioritarias para las personas, que es el tiempo. Uno de los aspectos que impulsará y fidelizará a los clientes es el servicio de calidad, por el cual se calificará a nuestros proveedores; y así mantener altos niveles de calidad del servicio para ser identificados y recomendados por los mismos clientes; los cuales podrán comentar y valorar cada uno de los servicios que utilizan. QuickJob se presenta como un negocio que va más allá de una simpe plataforma online, ya que generará una inclusión laboral para personas con intereses de ofrecer sus servicios con eficiencia en el trabajo y optimización de recursos.Since a few years ago, there has been an increase in the services offered by the internet or online platforms, because of consumers' preference to receive said services at home, in order to maintain more hours of rest or leisure at home; or to cover other needs. Consequently, digital channels were the ones that most adapted to this need. This project, QuickJob, was born exactly to cover multiple needs that are basic and common in the home, but offered from the same platform, easily accessible, safe and qualifiable by the consumer. Likewise, the services offered by third parties would generate additional income to those interested in offering them. This business vision where interests and needs are interrelated, under the same platform, capable of locating suppliers and customers in a radius of action close to their homes, is what makes the business attractive; since it values ​​one of the highest priority needs for people, which is time. A Quick Guide for Using Microsoft Onenote as an Electronic Laboratory Notebook

[Abstract] Scientific data recording and reporting systems are of a great interest for endorsing reproducibility and transparency practices among the scientific community. Current research generates large datasets that can no longer be documented using paper lab notebooks (PLNs). In this regard, electronic laboratory notebooks (ELNs) could be a promising solution to replace PLNs and promote scientific reproducibility and transparency. We previously analyzed five ELNs and performed two survey-based studies to implement an ELN in a biomedical research institute. Among the ELNs tested, we found that Microsoft OneNote presents numerous features related to ELN best functionalities. In addition, both surveyed groups preferred OneNote over a scientifically designed ELN (PerkinElmer Elements). However, OneNote remains a general note-taking application and has not been designed for scientific purposes. We therefore provide a quick guide to adapt OneNote to an ELN workflow that can also be adjusted to other nonscientific ELNs

USO DE MICROSOFT ONENOTE COMO CUADERNO ELECTRÓNICO DE LABORATORIO

Los sistemas de registro y de reporte de datos son de gran interés, puesto que respaldan la reproducibilidad y transparencia científica. La investigación actual genera una gran cantidad de datos que ya no se pueden documentar utilizando cuadernos de laboratorio de papel (CLP). Los cuadernos electrónicos de laboratorio (CEL) podrían ser una solu-ción prometedora para reemplazar los CLP y promover la reproducibilidad científica y su transparencia. Anteriormente analizamos cinco CEL y realizamos dos encuestas para implementar un CEL en un instituto de investigación biomédica. Entre los CEL proba-dos, encontramos que Microsoft OneNote presenta numerosas características relacio-nadas con las mejores funcionalidades del CEL. Además, ambos grupos encuestados prefirieron OneNote sobre un CEL científico (Elements de PerkinElmer). Sin embargo, OneNote es una aplicación general para tomar notas que no ha sido diseñada para fi-nes científicos. Robust estimation of bacterial cell count from optical density

Optical density (OD) is widely used to estimate the density of cells in liquid culture, but cannot be compared between instruments without a standardized calibration protocol and is challenging to relate to actual cell count. We address this with an interlaboratory study comparing three simple, low-cost, and highly accessible OD calibration protocols across 244 laboratories, applied to eight strains of constitutive GFP-expressing E. coli. Based on our results, we recommend calibrating OD to estimated cell count using serial dilution of silica microspheres, which produces highly precise calibration (95.5% of residuals <1.2-fold), is easily assessed for quality control, also assesses instrument effective linear range, and can be combined with fluorescence calibration to obtain units of Molecules of Equivalent Fluorescein (MEFL) per cell, allowing direct comparison and data fusion with flow cytometry measurements: in our study, fluorescence per cell measurements showed only a 1.07-fold mean difference between plate reader and flow cytometry data

Implementación de mejoras al sistema de acreditación ABET

TesisIn the current academic project arises to automate, through a technological solution, the generation, collection of information and the optimal sample of the results requested by ABET that evaluates the information systems engineering and software engineering careers. The general objective is to improve the web solution that automates the generation of reports in both English and Spanish, the taking of information and knowing optimally the results of surveys from students, graduates and employers. The customer of the project is Dr. Rosario Villalta Riega, Director of the School of System Engineer and Computing School at UPC. The customer will inform to the project managers their needs under the context of gathering ABET evidences that takes place in the virtual company SSIA. SSIA develops software and information systems for the accreditation of the School of Computer and Systems Engineering. The main risks identified that could arise during the project are: lack of coordination with outside consultants; it is necessary to have a scanner of the School; change in project scope; delay deliverables by external consultants
