Radial Distribution of Particle Clusters in Down Flow Reactors

Particle clustering is of major importance in down flow reactors having a profound influence on some fundamental properties of the flowing suspension such as particle slip velocity. The goal of this study is to provide further evidence to support the formation of clusters using the novel CREC-GS-Optiprobes. This sensor is equipped with GRIN lenses and introduces minimum intrusion effects. Results reported include radial distributions of particle cluster size and velocity under various gas flow superficial velocities and suspension densities. Micro-scale and macro-scale flow structures are advanced on the basis of the reported data

Evaluación numérica de viviendas ecoamigables conformadas por botellas de plástico rellenas de arena y reforzadas con acero corrugado

Este artículo presenta una evaluación experimental de cargas en casas ecoamigables hechas con botellas de plástico (pet) rellenas con arena y reforzadas con acero corrugado en marco del proyecto “Diseño y modelación de muros formados por botellas de tereftalato de polietileno rellenas de arena y reforzadas con acero corrugado” desarrollado en la Universidad Santo Tomas, Villavicencio – Colombia, en el año 2022. Introducción: el pet es un material pobremente biodegradable que se ha tornado un problema de contaminación medioambiental. Los sistemas de construcciones alternativas con botellas pet recicladas pueden suplir funciones de construcción, tomando ventaja de sus características mecánicas; también ayudan a reducir la contaminación medioambiental a través del reciclaje y reducen costos de construcción. Metodología: las botellas fueron colocadas verticalmente y no horizontalmente como se hace generalmente, además, estas botellas fueron reforzadas de acero corrugado para proveer estabilidad lateral al sistema propuesto. Para evaluar el sistema frente a diferentes escenarios de carga, se realizó una caracterización de las propiedades mecánicas de los elementos propuestos y se construyó un modelo de elementos finitos con el objetivo de representar una aproximación del comportamiento real de la casa que cumple los requerimientos de la nsr-10. Resultados: se determinó que la estructura soportará las cargas impuestas, presentando un ise de 0,8 para muros de carga y esta no presentará deformaciones excesivas de acuerdo a un ifl de 0,9. Conclusiones: debido a que el modelo a escala soportó las cargas verticales, se demuestra que el sistema provee seguridad a sus ocupantes y que el sistema de construcción propuesto genera reducción en los costos. Originalidad: aunque podemos encontrar casas construidas con botellas llenas con arena, estas son generalmente construidas con las botellas colocadas horizontalmente. Este proyecto propone el estudio de casas hechas con botellas configuradas verticalmente, con el fin de reducir su espacio constructivo. Limitaciones: en la práctica la caracterización de los atributos mecánicos del conjunto de materiales es naturaleza heterogénea, lo cual dificulta la alimentación de dichos atributos en los modelos de simulación. Por esto se propuso evaluar los atributos mecánicos del conjunto de materiales y asumirlos como homogéneos en el modelo.This paper presents an experimental evaluation of eco-friendly houses made of plastic bottles (PET) filled with sand and reinforced with corrugated steel. The study was carried out in the structure’s laboratory located in Santo Tomas University, Villavicencio - Colombia. Introduction: PET is a poorly biodegradable material that has become an environmental pollution problem. Alternative construction systems with PET bottle recycling can supply construction functions taking advantage of their mechanical characteristics, as well as reduce environmental pollution through recycling and lowering construction costs. Methods: The bottles and reinforcing steel were placed vertically to provide lateral stability to the proposed system. A characterization of the mechanical properties of the proposed elements was carried out and a numerical model was built in finite elements with the aim of representing an approximation of the real behavior of a house that meets the requirements of the NSR-10. Results: It was determined that the structure will support the loads by calculating an ISE of 0.8 for sustainable walls and that it does not present excessive deformations according to an IFL of 0.9. Conclusions: The house supported the vertical loads, demonstrating that the system provides security to its occupants and that the construction system generates a reduction in costs. Originality: Although we can find houses built with bottles filled with sand, they are generally built with the bottles placed horizontally. This project proposes the study of houses made up of bottles located vertically in order to take advantage of their geometric properties and increase compressive strength

Gestión para la implementación del SG-SST en empresas de menos de 5 trabajadores en el municipio de Puerto Boyacá Del 2015 Al 2020.

Resaltar el recorrido histórico del Sistema de Gestión de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo en empresas de menos de 5 trabajadores en el Municipio de Puerto Boyacá desde el 2015-2020.Esta tesis de especialización tuvo como objetivo general, resaltar el recorrido histórico del Sistema de Gestión de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo en empresas de menos de 5 trabajadores en el Municipio de Puerto Boyacá desde el 2015-2020 Esta investigación se abordó desde el paradigma cualitativo. Expresado su carácter documental y según del primer objetivo específico los capítulos uno y dos ofrecen una aproximación al estado del arte de los SG-SST en Colombia sobre todo en empresas de menos de cinco empleados. Por su parte el capítulo tres presenta la metodología y el diseño del instrumento con base en la normatividad vigente para Colombia teniendo en cuenta las fases del ciclo En el capítulo cuatro evidencia el tercer objetivo específico el cual implica el análisis de los documentos estudiados, se presentan los resultados y la discusión descriptiva con el fin de establecer el grado de cumplimiento en la implementación de los SG-SST en empresas de menos de cinco empleados en el Municipio de Puerto Boyacá. Los resultados indican la existencia de correlaciones positivas y estadísticamente significativas, entre algunas variables de la fase planear con otras variables de las fases hacer, verificar y actuar.This specialization thesis had the general objective of highlighting the historical journey of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System in companies with less than 5 workers in the Municipality of Puerto Boyacá from 2015-2020 This research was approached from the qualitative paradigm. The results indicate the existence of statistically significant and positive correlations between some variables of the planning phase with other variables of the do, verify and act phases. It was also observed that the SG-SST in companies with less than five employees in the municipality of Puerto Boyacá has a process that needs to implement all possible updates, since the planning phase is essential for the work of the SG-SST. It is concluded that companies with less than five employees must better articulate the phases of the PHVA cycle in order to successfully implement the SG-OSH. In other words; Whether the employee or employer is precise and opportune to show from knowing how to recognize through learning to avoid reaching the application of norms that sanction with the economic factor, the same necessary to comply with them; the importance of foreseeing the risk that human beings run when they are repeatedly exposed to the dangers of completing a certain task, since safety can first and foremost help improve health in and outside the workplace. Innovative Capability and Challenges for Industrial Business

Este artigo examinou o impacto exercido pela capacidade inovativa sobre o desempenho em inovação, considerando a influência da orientação para o mercado em um quadro econômico de baixo crescimento. Utilizou amostra com 244 empresas industriais brasileiras e Modelagem de Equações Estruturais. Os resultados evidenciaram o impacto positivo da capacidade inovativa sobre o desempenho em inovação e o efeito negativo da orientação para o mercado sobre este impacto. O artigo contribui com a literatura ao identificar fatores que influenciam, simultaneamente, o desempenho em inovação em um contexto ambiental restritivo. Gestores de empresas podem utilizar os resultados aqui reportados em suas estratégias que viabilizem a aquisição de novos conhecimentos, utilizando a integração entre a capacidade inovativa e a orientação para o mercado como fatores direcionadores do desempenho em inovação.This paper examined the impact of innovative capability on innovation performance, considering the influence of market orientation on a low growth economic environment. It used a sample with 244 Brazilian industrial companies and Structural Equation Modeling. The results showed the positive impact of innovative capability on innovation performance and the negative effect of market orientation on this impact. The article contributes to the literature by identifying factors that simultaneously influence innovation performance in a restrictive environmental context. Business managers can use the results reported here in their strategies that enable the acquisition of new knowledge, using the integration between innovative capability and market orientation as driving factors of innovation performance

In the scope of the Spain-Portugal INTERREG projects and FEDER funded POCTEP program, OTALEX C (Territorial and Environmental Monitoring Alentejo Extremadura Center) project aims at studying of various territorial, socioeconomic and environmental indicators. It is the fundamental objective of this project, to develop a geo-portal accessible via internet, for anyone, so that the information will be useful in making decisions related to land use and therefore sustainable development of the environment. Under this general framework over the past fifteen years, we have developed different projects that have set the standardization of data between Portugal and Spain, also was designed GIS systems, and developed regional models and indicator systems, culminating in the current Spatial Data Infrastructure SDI-OTALEX C

En 2018, Treinta y nueve estudiantes femeninas del X ciclo del periodo 2018-1 de la escuela de Psicología de una universidad particular del cono norte de Lima, ellas han descrito el romance de su personas cercanas a ellas. Se analizaron los 266 casos de parejas de enamorados estaban el rango de 17 a 25 años. El instrumento que se usó fue una CUESTIONARIO CUPIDO que es una escala nominal de conductas donde las estudiantes de psicología clasificaban los comportamientos en categorías preestablecidas, claramente definidas y mutuamente excluyentes. La conclusión más importante del estudio observacional fue que las parejas analizadas en un 64.4 % la mujer ero atrajo al varón y después el varón emo conectó con la mujer. También han observado otro estilo de romance cuando el varón ero atrajo a la mujer por su cuerpo atracción y después la mujer fue la que emo conectó con el varón y observaron este hecho en un 35.6 % de los casos

Determining crystal structures through crowdsourcing and coursework

We show here that computer game players can build high-quality crystal structures. Introduction of a new feature into the computer game Foldit allows players to build and real-space refine structures into electron density maps. To assess the usefulness of this feature, we held a crystallographic model-building competition between trained crystallographers, undergraduate students, Foldit players and automatic model-building algorithms. After removal of disordered residues, a team of Foldit players achieved the most accurate structure. Analysing the target protein of the competition, YPL067C, uncovered a new family of histidine triad proteins apparently involved in the prevention of amyloid toxicity. From this study, we conclude that crystallographers can utilize crowdsourcing to interpret electron density information and to produce structure solutions of the highest quality
