Real-time imaging systems for superconducting nanowire single-photon detector arrays

    Get PDF
Superconducting nanowire singe-photon detectors (SNSPD) are promising detectors in the field of applications, where single-photon resolution is required like in quantum optics, spectroscopy or astronomy. These cryogenic detectors gain from a broad spectrum in the optical and infrared range and deliver low dark count rates and low jitter times. This thesis improves the understanding of the detection mechanism of SNSPDs and intodruces new and promising multi-pixel readout concepts

Two German Impersonal Passives and Expletive pro

In the present article I argue that the null subject observed in German impersonal passives is neither a null expletive nor in canonical subject position (e.g. AgrSP). We will link the possibility of null subjects in German constructions involving the participle to the possibility of nominative assignment into the VP. The null subject is then analysed as a syntactically projected null cognate object that is assigned nominative case in situ.

Identifying key stakeholders and developing a roadmap for the risk assessment

Escapes or releases of domesticated aquaculture fish pose a potential risk of adverse effects on native fish gene pools. The FP7 project AquaTrace applies molecular genetic tools, which will improve the ability for tracing farmed fish in the wild and for documentation of their potential effects on wild conspecifics. Based on the scientific insights the project provides a risk assessment and management recommendations concerning the genetic impact of aquaculture fish on wild fish gene pools. In the frame of the AquaTrace project, this document aims to identify the key stakeholders and to draw a roadmap for the risk assessment in line with the relevant work package.JRC.G.4-Maritime affair

Feasibility Study on a Decentralised System Architecture for Animal Transport Tracing Systems (DEAR-TRACE)

    Get PDF
The objective of the study was to demonstrate whether the data recorded by the tracing systems of long journey animal transport vehicles for the official controls under Regulation 1/2005 and managed by different private service providers for trucks fitted with their systems could be made remotely available to competent authorities in this decentralised system architecture. The concept was tested for around 2 months with 2 tracing systems from different service providers, with volunteering transport companies using these systems and with the participation of competent authorities in 3 Member States with a substantial share in the international animal transport. Overall the experiment proved that with limited software development resources the integration of commercial tracing systems in animal transports would be feasible and offer several advantages to the competent authorities both in respect of animal welfare and traceability of animal movement.JRC.DG.G.4-Maritime affair

(DIPF/Orig.

Neural Implicit Representations for Physical Parameter Inference from a Single Video

Neural networks have recently been used to analyze diverse physical systems and to identify the underlying dynamics. While existing methods achieve impressive results, they are limited by their strong demand for training data and their weak generalization abilities to out-of-distribution data. To overcome these limitations, in this work we propose to combine neural implicit representations for appearance modeling with neural ordinary differential equations (ODEs) for modelling physical phenomena to obtain a dynamic scene representation that can be identified directly from visual observations. Our proposed model combines several unique advantages: (i) Contrary to existing approaches that require large training datasets, we are able to identify physical parameters from only a single video. (ii) The use of neural implicit representations enables the processing of high-resolution videos and the synthesis of photo-realistic images. (iii) The embedded neural ODE has a known parametric form that allows for the identification of interpretable physical parameters, and (iv) long-term prediction in state space. (v) Furthermore, the photo-realistic rendering of novel scenes with modified physical parameters becomes possible.Comment: Published in IEEE/CVF Winter Conference on Applications of Computer Vision (WACV) 202
