Cabaran pelajar antarabangsa di Kolej Kediaman UTHM
Setiap pelajar mempunyai pelbagai cabaran tersendiri semasa mereka mengikuti
pengajian di peringkat universiti. Cabaran ini terpaksa dilalui oleh mereka dan besar
kemungkinan ianya akan mempengaruhi pencapaian akademik pelajar. Oleh sebab
itu, kajian ini dilakukan untuk mengenal pasti masalah dominan yang dihadapi oleh
pelajar antarabangsa yang tinggal di Kolej Kediaman UTHM. Masalah penyesuaian
yang dikaji meliputi akademik, sosial dan peribadi-emosi. Selain itu, kajian ini
dijalankan untuk mengenal pasti tahap keselesaan interaksi dalam kalangan pelajar
antarabangsa. Perbezaan antara masalah yang dihadapi dengan ciri-ciri demografi
juga turut dikaji. Kajian berbentuk tinjauan deskriptif dan inferensi ini menggunakan
borang soal selidik sebagai instrumen di mana ia melibatkan 98 orang pelajar
antarabangsa yang tinggal di Kolej Kediaman UTHM. Data yang diperoleh telah
dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan Rasch Model melalui perisian Winstep versi
3.69. Hasil kajian mendapati (i) masalah penyesuaian sosial dilihat sebagai masalah
dominan yang dihadapi oleh pelajar antarabangsa dengan nilai mean measure 0.18
logit; (ii) tahap keselesaan interaksi dalam kalangan pelajar antarabangsa pula berada
pada tahap sederhana dengan nilai skor min 2.70; (iii) tiada perbezaan yang
signifikan antara masalah penyesuaian akademik dengan CPA; (iv) tiada perbezaan
yang signifikan antara masalah penyesuaian sosial dengan CPA; (v) tiada perbezaan
yang signifikan antara masalah penyesuaian peribadi-emosi dengan CPA; (vi) tiada
perbezaan yang signifikan antara masalah penyesuaian akademik dengan negara;
(vii) tiada perbezaan yang signifikan antara masalah penyesuaian sosial dengan
negara; (viii) terdapat perbezaan yang signifikan antara masalah penyesuaian
peribadi-emosi dengan negara. Diharap maklumat daripada tulisan ini akan
memberikan kesedaran dan manfaat bagi semua mengenai isu berkaitan dengan
cabaran pelajar antarabangsa untuk kesejahteraan warga dan organisasi
Electro-oxidation of Ethanol on Carbon Supported PtSn and PtSnNi Catalysts
Even though platinum is known as an active electro-catalyst for ethanol oxidation at low temperatures (< 100 oC), choosing the electrode material for ethanol electro-oxidation is a crucial issue. It is due to its property which easily poisoned by a strong adsorbed species such as CO. PtSn-based electro-catalysts have been identified as better catalysts for ethanol electro-oxidation. The third material is supposed to improved binary catalysts performance. This work presents a study of the ethanol electro-oxidation on carbon supported Pt-Sn and Pt-Sn-Ni catalysts. These catalysts were prepared by alcohol reduction. Nano-particles with diameters between 2.5-5.0 nm were obtained. The peak of (220) crystalline face centred cubic (fcc) Pt phase for PtSn and PtSnNi alloys was repositioned due to the presence of Sn and/or Ni in the alloy. Furthermore, the modification of Pt with Sn and SnNi improved ethanol and CO electro-oxidation. Copyright © 2016 BCREC GROUP. All rights reserved

Internet merupakan satu kesatuan dan menjadi salah satu media informasi dalam dunia maya. Dalam sebuah tampilan website di internet dibutuhkan tampilan atau display yang menarik, sehingga pengunjung website tertarik untuk terus mengunjungi website tersebut. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk
menyempurnakan dan memberikan rekomendasi rancangan display website, khususnya yang berkaitan dengan warna. Kecepatan reaksi dan tingkat kenyamanan merupakan kriteria yang
digunakan sebagai salah satu komponen ketertarikan kemampubacaan pengguna internet. Faktor yang diteliti merupakan penggunaan warna primer, sekunder, tersier, serta desain aktual yang ada. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui
penelitian perbedaan perlakukan terhadap reaksi membaca pada software uji display. Perangkat eksperimen yang dibutuhkan adalah komputer, software sistem operasi dan software uji display. Uji display dilakukan kepada 62 responden yang terdiri dari 4 uji reaksi yaitu penekanan menu atas, menu kanan, menu kiri, serta bagian tengah dari rancangan display tersebut. Adapun perlakukan terhadap

Analisis Kemampuan Siswa SMP Dalam Menerjemahkan Soal Cerita Ke Dalam Model Matematika Dan Penyelesaiannya (Pokok Bahasan Kubus dan Balok Kelas VIII Di SMP Negeri 3 Ceper Tahun Ajaran 2011/ 2012)
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa Sekolah Menengah
Pertama dalam menerjemahkan soal cerita ke dalam model matematika dan
penyelesaiannya serta mengetahui letak kesalahan pada penyelesaian soal cerita
khususnya pada pokok bahasan kubus dan balok. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa
kelas VIII D SMP Negeri 3 Ceper yang berjumlah 36 siswa, subjek pelaksana
adalah peneliti dan subjek yang membantu pelaksana adalah guru matematika.
Data yang dikumpulkan melalui Metode Tes, Metode Wawancara, dan Metode
Dokumentasi. Prosedur penelitian ini ditempuh melalui 3 alur yaitu studi
persiapan, studi eksplorasi umum, dan studi eksplorasi khusus. Hasil penelitian
menunjukkan bahwa persentase kemampuan siswa dalam menerjemahkan soal
cerita ke dalam model matematika sebesar 82% tergolong sangat tinggi,
kemampuan siswa dalam menyelesaikan langkah perhitungan sebesar 67%
tergolong tinggi dan kemampuan siswa dalam menyimpulkan jawaban sebesar
56% tergolong sedang. Kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa pada penelitian ini terjadi
pada pemahaman soal , ketidaktelitian siswa dalam membaca soal, serta kesalahan
dalam menghitung
THE IMPLEMENTATION OF CONTEXTUAL TEACHING AND LEARNINGMETHOD TO INCREASE STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY OF THE SEVENTH GRADE AT MTs NEGERI 02. TOLITOLI
The objective of this research is to find out whether the using of contextual teaching and learning can increase students’ vocabulary mastery. It is a pre-experimental research. The study was taken by the seventh grade of MTs Negeri 02. Tolitoli. It was conducted in one class (VII D). The data were obtained through a pre-test and post-test.The mean score of pre-test was (65.6) while in the post-test improved up to (74.07). Moreover the Minimum Mastery Criterion of English lesson was 75 (seventy-five). Then the data of both test were analyzed by using T-test, and the result showed that the T-count value was 5.48 greater than T-table value was 1.701 It can be inferred that the using of contextual teaching and learning method can increase students’ vocabulary mastery. Keywords: Increase, Vocabulary, Contextual Teaching Learning.
STUDENTS’ PROBLEMS IN SPEAKING OF THE SECOND YEAR STUDENTS OF ENGLISH EDUCATION STUDY PROGRAM AT MADAKO UNIVERSITY
This research aimed to find out the students’ problems in speaking at second semester of English Department at Madako University. The data was collected from 16 students at Second Semester of English Department at Madako University by using purposive sampling technique. This research design used qualitative design mixed with quantitative approach. The instrument used to collect the data was questionnaire and documentation. From the result, the researcher found some conclusion of students’ problems in speaking. The first problem of the students in psychological, most students revealed that they have problem with their self confidence. The students feel shyness while speaking English. They also feel anxious when they would speak English. And next most of students fear of mistakes when speaking. There were some students feel lack of motivation. The second problem of the students in the language, there were three problems that make most students inactive in speaking English. Most students had problems in grammar; they did not understand the grammar rules. And then some students have problems in pronunciation; they did not know the correct pronunciation of words. And lack vocabulary became their third problem in speaking; they lacked vocabulary, so they always translated from Indonesia to English
INCREASING STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY OF VII GRADE AT SMP N 3 TOLITOLI THROUGH WORD TREE
The objective of the research is to prove whether word tree branch can be applied to increase students’ vocabulary.. This pre-experimental study uses 30 students as a sample. They are grade VIIf of SMP N 3 Tolitoli. The procedure of this research consists of pretest, treatment, and posttest. The result of the analysis shows that word tree branch contribute greatly to the students’ vocabulary. It can be seen by the difference of the mean score between pre-test and post-test. The mean score of pre-test was 51.47 while in the post-test improved up to 62.60. The data of this research are analyzed by using SPSS Program version 16.0. Then the data of both tests are analyzed by using T-test, and the result shows that the T-test value 7.377 is high than T-table value 2.045. It can be inferred that word tree branch was very effective to increase students’ vocabulary in descriptive text.  Keywords: Increasing, vocabulary, word tree branchÂ
INCREASING STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY BY USING SONG LYRIC AT THE SECOND GRADE OF SMP NEGERI 3 TOLITOLI
This research design belongs to a pre-experimental research. This research aims to find out whether the use of song lyric can increasing students’ vocabulary at VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Tolitoli. The instrument of collecting data are pretest and posttest. The test was used obtain data in order to find out the effect of using song lyric. The result of the research shows that: 1. By using song lyric can increasing students vocabulary in listening music, 2. There is significant difference between the result of pretest and posttest , the mean score of posttest was 82.42 it was higher than the mean score of pretest 77.09. 3. The testing hypothesis shows that T-count 9.609 was higher than T table 2.036 it indicates that the null hypothesis (Ho) rejected and (Ha) accepted. That ability was increase after they were taught using song lyric. They was better in their listening music.Key word: Vocabulary, Verb, Lyric, Song, Increase
PENGEMBANGAN MODUL INKUIRI TERSTRUKTUR DENGAN TIGA LEVEL REPRESENTASI KIMIA
Konsep mol merupakan bagian esensial dari pembelajaran kimia dan menjadi syarat untuk mempelajari konsep kimia lainnya. Sumber belajar yang digunakan belum menghubungkan ketiga level representasi secara utuh. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengembangkan modul pembelajaran inkuiri terstruktur untuk melihat validitas, praktikalitas dan efektifitas. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode pengembangan dengan menggunakan model Plomp. Subjek penelitian terdiri dari 141 siswa yang berasal dari dua Sekolah Menengah Atas di Kota Padang. Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu tes hasil belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modul berbasis inkuiri terstruktur yang dikembangkan memiliki nilai validitas tinggi (V=0,98), praktikalitas berdasarkan respon guru (P= 0,36) dan respon siswa (P=0,36) dengan kategori yang sangat tinggi. Â Modul yang dihasilkan merupakan modul dengan tiga lvel representasi (level makroskopik, level submikroskopik dan level simbolik) yang di dalam modul terdapat aktivitas inkuiri terstruktur. IMPROVING LISTENING SKILL OF GRADE VIII STUDENTS AT SMP NEGERI 2 GALANG THROUGH POP SONG
The objective of this research is to find out whether pop song significant or not to improve students’ listening skill at SMP Negeri 2 Galang. This research is pre-experimental research design consists of one group pre-test and post-test. There are two variables of this research namely dependent and independent variables. The independent variable is Pop Song and dependent variable is students’ listening skill at eight grade of SMP Negeri 2 Galang. The Population of this research is the eight grade of SMP Negeri 2 Galang in 2016/2017 academic year. The sample of this research is selected by using purposive sampling technique and the selected class is VIIIa consisted of 24 students. In collecting the data, the researcher conduct test covered pre and post test in order to measure the students’ listening skill before and after given pop song media. The researcher analized the data statically.The result of the test showed that the students’ mean score in posttest 72,91 is higher than pretest 31,16. To know the significant difference between pretest and posttest, the researcher compared the value of t-counted and t-table by applying 0.05 level of significance for two-tailed test with 23 degree of freedom (24-1=23), the researcher found that the t – table is 3,768. It means that the t-counted (9,15) is higher than t-table (3,768) and the hypothesis of this research is accepted. The researcher concluded that using Pop Song can improve students’ listening skill at eight grade of SMP Negeri 2 Galang.  Key words:improving, listening skill, and pop song
