Continuous Authentication (Ca) Approaches Are Attracting Attention Due To The Explosion Of Available Sensors From Iot Devices Such As Smartphones. However, A Critical Privacy Concern Arises When Ca Data Is Outsourced. Data From Motion Sensors May Reveal Users&#34 Private Issues. Despite The Need For Ca In Smartphones, No Previous Work Has Explored How To Tackle This Matter Leveraging Motion Sensors In A Privacy-Preserving Way. In This Work, A Mechanism Dubbed Smartcampp Is Proposed To Achieve Ca Based On Gyroscope And Accelerometer Data. Format-Preserving Encryption Techniques Are Applied To Privately Outsource Them. Our Results Show The Suitability Of The Proposed Scheme, Featuring Of Accuracy While Taking 5.12 Ms. Of Computation For Authenticating Each User. Implant treatment for a patient with aggressive periodontitis associated to diabetes mellitus. Clinical case report. Surgical phase

ABSTRACTDiabetes mellitus is a chronic degenerative disease characterized by a set of metabolic disorders and presence of hyperglycemia. When analyzing the effect of diabetes on implants, bone remodeling process alteration and deficient mineralization have been observed: these factors result in poorer bone integration. The aim of the present study was to describe surgical and implant treatment conducted in order to re-establish function and esthetics of a patient's periodontal and general circumstances. Resulting ridge (flange) preservation as well as elevation of the maxillary sinus achieved a suitable flange to place implants, by means of a tomographic surgical guide in preparation for further rehabilitation of implant-supported prostheses. As a conclusion we might propose that late diagnosis of aggressive periodontitis can lead to edentulism in young patients, which could be solved with endo-osseous implants

Cultural Preservation of Ethnomedicine in Peru

In conjunction with the Minority Health & Health Disparities International Research Training program at San Diego State University, three Linfield students contributed to the ongoing Peru Ethnomedical Project in Trujillo, Peru by: Conducting surveys in two neighborhoods on the edge of the city; Creating a medicinal plant garden in the Chan Chan archaeological site museum. Surveys conducted in Moche, Trujillo were part of a larger study supervised by anthropologists Douglas Sharon and Thomas Love. The research aims to evaluate the usage of medicinal plants in rural and urban Peruvian communities. Linfield’s contribution focused on the creation of the medicinal garden to serve as a community model and educational program. The overall purpose of the 2015 summer faculty collaborative project was to: Preserve the knowledge of these practices; Analyze the plant properties; Publish the information; Provide the community with a garden that reflects the commonly used plants; Educate new generations; Bring back and apply this knowledge in the Linfield community

La implicación de los padres en la educación de sus hijos.

La importancia que tiene la implicación, dedicación y actitud de los padres y madres hacia la educación de sus hijos e hijas es fundamental. Desde edades tempranas, los niños y niñas ven como referentes o modelos a imitar a sus padres, de modo que, aprenden lo que ven. La interpretación que hacen los niños y niñas de las acciones que llevan a cabo sus progenitores, son las que posteriormente ejecutarán. Por esta razón, este proyecto se centrará en obtener conocimientos sobre el entorno más próximo de las familias y averiguar si estas ayudan en la realización de tareas y el estudio continuo de sus descendientes. Es importante tener en cuenta que el sostener normas de convivencia establecidas en el seno familiar junto con el empeño que pongan estas en el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje de sus hijos e hijas repercutirá positivamente en los logros y éxitos de sus descendientes.The importance of the involvement, dedication and attitude of parents towards the education of their sons and daughters is fundamental. From an early age, boys and girls see as role models or references to imitate their parents, so that they learn what they see. The interpretation that boys and girls make of the actions carried out by their parents are those that they will subsequently execute. For this reason, this project will focus on obtaining knowledge about the closest environment of the families and finding out if they help in carrying out tasks and the continuous study of their descendants. It is important to keep in mind that upholding the rules of coexistence established within the family, together with the effort that these put into the teaching and learning process of their sons and daughters will have a positive impact on the achievements and successes of their descendants

Transcranial direct current stimulation for post-stroke dysphagia: a meta-analysis

[EN] Background: Strokes may cause some swallowing difficulty or associated dysphagia in 25–80% of patients. This phenomenon has been linked to increased morbidity and mortality. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of transcranial direct current stimulation in patients with dysphagia in post-stroke patients. Methods: A systematic search in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science and MEDLINE was conducted. The articles must have to evaluate an intervention that included transcranial direct current stimulation; the sample had to consist exclusively of patients with post-stroke dysphagia; and the experimental design consisted of randomized controlled trial. Difference in mean differences and their 95% confidence interval were calculated as the between-group difference in means divided by the pooled standard deviation. The I2 statistic was used to determine the degree of heterogeneity. Results: Of the 9 investigations analyzed, all applied transcranial direct current stimulation in combination with conventional dysphagia therapy to the experimental group. All the studies analyzed identified improvements in swallowing function and meta-analysis confirmed their strong effect on reducing the risk of penetration and aspiration (Hedges’s g = 0.55). The results showed that participants who received transcranial direct current stimulation significantly improved swallowing function. Conclusions: Transcranial direct current stimulation has positive effects in the treatment of poststroke dysphagia by improving swallowing function, oral and pharyngeal phase times and the risk of penetration and aspiration. Furthermore, its combination with conventional dysphagia therapy, balloon dilatation with catheter or training of the swallowing muscles ensures improvement of swallowing function. PERSONAL DOCUMENTS. CONSTRUCTION OF ONESELF AND THE ARRIVAL TO ACADEMIC LITERACITY   Abstract. This work is part of the research project «Curricular processes and accompanying practices» (PCyPA). Is focused in a set of reflections derived from the use of personal documents in educational practices in order to adress the role of reading and writing in the training processes of the subjects, in particular the peculiarities of the arrival to academic literacy. First, we highlight the role of Chicago School studies in the use of personal documents; second, we characterize the role of personal documents in the inquiry. Later, we focus on the diary and the life story, instruments used to work on the construction of oneself and academic literacy; we point its use in education; We exemplify with some extracts personal diary writings of personal diaries ¾elemental and higher education¾; via a life story, we capture the arrival to academic literacy and the encounter with books. In both cases we highlight the role of writing and reflective thinking in the training processes. Apresentamos um conjunto de reflexões derivadas do uso de documentos pessoais nas práticas educativas. Nos interessa mostrar o papel da leitura e da escrita nos processos de formação dos sujeitos, em particular das peculiaridades do percorrido para a chegada à literacidade acadêmica. Em primeiro lugar, destacamos o papel dos estudos da Escola de Chicago no uso de documentos pessoais; em segundo lugar, caracterizamos o papel dos documentos pessoais na investigação. Posteriormente, enfocamos o diário e a história de vida, instrumentos utilizados para trabalhar a construção de si e o letramento acadêmico; apontamos seu uso na educação; exemplificamos com alguns trechos a redação do jornal ¾ensino elemental e superior¾; por meio de uma história de vida, captamos a chegada à alfabetização acadêmica e o encontro com os livros. Em ambos os casos destacamos o papel da escrita e do pensamento reflexivo nos processos de formação. El objetivo del trabajo es darle aplicabilidad a la evolución del pensamiento estratégico relacionado con la responsabilidad social empresarial mediante las recomendaciones que implementa la norma ISO 26000 para ello se ha seleccionado una empresa que permitiera la evaluación de su estado actual en cuanto a normatividad de la RSE y mediante un proyecto tipo descriptivo donde se construyó un instrumento de recopilación de datos de estudios de la norma internacional “ISO 26000” el cual fue un cuestionario que fue aplicado a la empresa del sector servicios de Villavicencio llamada Centro de Diagnóstico Automotor Andino “CDA ANDINO”. Introducción al ecoturismo comunitario

Este libro presenta un análisis de los proyectos de turismo, y de la necesidad de reforzar todo aquello que los vuelva compatibles con la conservación, protección y restauración del entorno. Inicia con definiciones y conceptos que permitan la comprensión del ecoturismo; también se analizan los impactos económicos, sociales y ambientales del turismo convencional; para finalizar el apartado se cita al desarrollo sustentable como el modelo socioeconómico y ambiental que permitirá establecer un turismo menos lesivo al medio ambiente. Medio ambiente y cultura local han sido los componentes más sacrificados en el desarrollo de proyectos turísticos. Por eso se busca generar en los lectores una reflexión sobre aspectos que suelen considerarse complementarios, de poca relevancia o de difícil comprensión. Se hace la invitación a revisar cada capítulo, indagar en otros medios (libros, videos, internet, documentos, etc.) y buscar respuestas a las inquietudes que este texto les pueda dejar. Por último, se pretende despertar el interés de viajar y experimentar propuestas ecoturísticas que las comunidades rurales ofrecen a lo largo del país
