The Retail City in Greater Birmingham – The changing face of urban retail districts as a result of retail-led regeneration and containment policy

The paper critically reviews retail-led regeneration and retail containment polices and their effects on the urban retail in the UK by analysing the effect that retail-led mega-schemes regeneration projects have on the economic growth of inner cities. There is significant controversy whether mega-schemes in retail-led regeneration initiatives contribute to the growth of local economies or whether it leads to the pitch shifting and marginalisation of local retail. The research focuses on two neighbouring strategies in Birmingham and Solihull to determine differences in the application of retail-led regeneration in inner city and peripheral locations. Birmingham’s Bullring centre and Solihull’s Touchstone centre was researched using quantitative data on the growth of the retail sector in Birmingham and supplemented using interviews with key actors. The paper critically analyses whether retail-led mega-schemes have a net positive effect on the economic revitalisation of the deteriorating inner cities. The results of the research indicate that the retail-led regeneration initiative brought about a dual economy with a global inner core of national retail and the outer core of marginalised local retail. The economic motive of implementing retail-led regeneration is doubted, as the research delivers mixed results. However the research indicates that the strategic benefits of restructuring and marketing the city have become equally if of not more important in retail-led regeneration initiatives than the actual economic benefits for the local economic community.

PEMBANGUNAN APLIKASI PERMAINAN PELIHARAAN BERBASIS SOSIAL DAN LOKASI

Permainan peliharaan berbasis sosial dan lokasi, merupakan solusi untuk memfasilitasi pengguna yang ingin berinteraksi dengan peliharaan secara virtual dengan kesan nyata di dalam kehidupan. Permainan yang telah ada sebelumnya seperti "Tamagochi" hanya terbatas pada satu perangkat dan tidak dapat berinteraksi dengan kesan dunia nyata. Pengembangan dari permainan peliharaan berbasis sosial dan lokasi dilakukan dengan menggunakan framework CodeIgniter serta Android. Pengembangan pada web service menggunakan CodeIgniter dan pada platform mobile menggunakan Android. Pada aplikasi ini dilakukan pengintegrasian dengan situs jejaring sosial Foursquare yang mana digunakan untuk mengambil data lokasi pada basis data Foursquare. Perangkat yang digunakan dalam pengembangan ialah Eclipse, NetBeans, PhpMyAdmin, dan Apache Web Server. Pengembangan serta integrasi dengan situs jejaring sosial yang banyak digunakan saat ini menghasilkan permainan pemeliharaan berbasis sosial dan lokasi. Aplikasi ini dapat bermanfaat dalam alternatif permainan sosial berbasis web dan sebagai media hiburan dalam memfasilitasi interaksi sosial di dalam dunia maya

ANALISIS KINERJA SIMPANG EMPAT TAK BERSINYAL (STUDI KASUS : PERSIMPANGAN JALAN SOMPAK-JALAN BENGKAYANG-JALAN PONTIANAK-JALAN KAMPUNG BARU, DI KECAMATAN MEMPAWAH HULU KABUPATEN LANDAK DENGAN METODE MKJI 1997)

 Persimpangan Empat tak bersinyal di simpang Jalan Sompak – Jalan Bengkayang – Jalan Pontianak, Jalan Kampung Baru di kecamatan Mempawah Hulu kabupaten Landak ini merupakan persimpangan empat lengan yang tak bersinyal dimana pada Jalan ini setiap harinya dilewati berbagai macam kendaraan baik bermotor maupun tidak bermotor seperti sepeda, sepeda motor, angkutan umum pedesaan dan mobil pribadi. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu menganalisa kinerja simpang untuk kondisi saat ini. Memproyeksi/prediksi arus lalu` lintas yang melewati simpang pada 5 dan 10 tahun mendatang. Setelah dilakukan analisis menggunakan metode pedoman Manual Kapasitas Jalan Indonesia 1997 memperlihatkan bahwa kinerja simpang masih dalam kondisi baik dengan derajat kejenuhan (DS) kurang dari 0,85 untuk arus lalu lintas sebanyak 3,083 smp/jam. Pada proyeksi tahun (2022) DSnya sebanyak 0,06 untuk tahun (2027) sebanyak 0,18 dan pada tahun (2032) DSnya sebanyak 0,71, Pada persimpangan Jalan Sompak – Jalan Bengkayang - Jalan Pontianak - Jalan Kampung Baru perlu Penambahan rambu arus lalu lintas seperti rambu rambu penunjuk arah di simpang Jalan Sompak–Jalan Bengkayang-Jalan Pontianak-Jalan Kampung Baru serta, Perlu dilakukan evaluasi lebih lanjut terhadap kinerja simpang dengan menggunakan metode yang lain.Kata kunci : Derajat kejenuhan (DS), Kapasitas (C), Kinerja simpang dengan menggunakan metode MKJI 1997,  Peluang antrian dan tingkat pelayanan (LOS), Tundaan (D)

Na een beknopt overzicht van de historie der galblaaschirurgie, worden de anatomie, physiologie en pathologie der galwegen kort besproken. De resultaten van de galblaaschirurgie zijn over het algemeen goed te noemen. De meeste statistieken geven aan, dat 80 % der geopereerde patienten door de ingreep van hun klachten zijn bevrijd. RESPONS PADI GOGO VARIETAS DODOKAN TERHADAP PEMBERIAN PUPUK KOMPOS DAN NITROGEN PADA TANAH ULTISOL DI KECAMATAN NATAR KABUPATEN LAMPUNG SELATAN

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dosis pupuk kompos dan nitrogen terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi padi gogo. Perlakuan disusun secara faktorial (4x3) dengan tiga ulangan menggunakan Rancangan Kelompok Teracak Sempurna (RKTS). Faktor pertama yaitu pupuk kompos (0 , 5, 10 dan 15 t ha'). Faktor kedua adalah pupuk nitrogen (0, 45 dan 90 kg ha-'). Homogenitas data diuji dengan uji Barlet dan aditivitas data diuji dengan uji Tukey dan dilanjutkan dengan uji BNT pada taraf nyata 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian pupuk kompos berpengaruh pada jumlah anakan, panjang malai dan hasil panen padi. Sedangkan pemberian pupuk nitrogen berpengaruh pada tinggi tanaman (35, 42, 49 HST), jumlah anakan produktif dan hasil panen padi. Interaksi antara pemberian pupuk kompos dan nitrogen terjadi pada tinggi tanaman (49 HST) dan pada jumlah anakan produktif. Dari penelitian ini pemberian kompos pada dosis 5, 15 t ha-. ' dan nitrogen 90 kg ha-' memberikan pengaruh yang lebih baik terhadap pertumbuhan padi gogo. Hasil analisis tanaman padi menunjukkan bahwa serapan N yang terserap sebanyak 1,47%

Gender Bias in The Rural Community as Reflected in Minfong Hos Sing to The Dawn

This study aims at identifying the evidences of gender-biased behaviour and actions and at finding the possible reasons why those gender-biased behaviour and actions happen within the life of the rural community as depicted in the novel. The problems, therefore, are formulated as follows: 1). What are the evidences of gender-biased behaviour and actions experienced by the major female characters of HosSing to the Dawn?and 2). Why do the gender-biased behaviour and actionsoccur within the life of the rural communityas in HosSing to the Dawn? This study is a library research. The primary source is the novel itself, Sing to the Dawn. The secondary sources are obtained from several relevant books related to literary theories such as the critical approach, the theory of gender, the theory of society, and the review of Thai society. In order to relate the gender bias and a certain community, the socio-cultural approach is used to examine the novel. This study found that gender biased behaviour and actions committed by the male characters towards the major female characters manifest in several manners; they are subordination of women, mental violence, violent intention, physical violence, sex role stereotyping, and marginalization. The possible reasons enabling the manifestation of gender biased behaviour and actions committed by the male characters towards the major female characters are cultural construction on women subordination, cultural construction on sex roles stereotyping as the result of patriarchal system, religious misinterpretation, and poverty.DOI: https://doi.org/10.24071/llt.2012.15020
