La identidad autorial en la «Ortografía castellana» de Mateo Alemán

Mateo Alemán published his Ortografía castellana in Mexico in 1609. It was a short essay that contained valuable remarks about castilian ortography and several stories about key moments of his life. In this paper we can see how he tried to make a name as an author through the aforementioned work, which is reviewed and contextualized into the gramaticist trend of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, elaborating on the reasons that made Alemán write it.En 1609 Mateo Alemán publicó en México su Ortografía castellana, un breve tratado de ortografía que contiene valiosas apreciaciones sobre la ortografía del castellano, pero también los relatos de momentos cruciales de su vida. A través de esta obra, se observa cómo Alemán construye su presentación como autor, y se espigan los motivos que le condujeron a escribirla y publicarla, así como se analiza la obra en función de su contexto, es decir, la corriente gramaticista de los siglos XVI y XVII

Jane Austen and Transmedia Narratives. Analysis of The Cate Morland Chronicles

The main aim of my MA thesis is to analyse The Cate Morland Chronicles (2016), a web series based on Jane Austen’s novel Northanger Abbey (1818), and to explore how transmedia storytelling is used to adapt and modernise a classic novel. In order to do this, different adaptation theories will be reviewed and transmedia storytelling will be introduced. Then, a review of adaptations of Jane Austen’s novels and, especially, of the adaptations of Northanger Abbey will be included. The fan phenomenon and Austenmania will be addressed as a as a possible cause of web series. Finally, the analysis will be carried out. Different transmedia storytelling approaches (Jenkins, Pratten, Scolari) will be applied to study the impact that different media (YouTube videos, blog entries and social network accounts) have had on the story. Moreover, extra-cinematic factors such as place and location (Cartmell and Whelehan, Cardwell, Stam) and the influence of other texts (Stam’s intertextual dialogism) will be studied too. Furthermore, the relation between viewers and the web series will also be analysed to discover how these new adaptations enable viewers to connect with the text. In conclusion, this MA thesis attempts to discover how transmedia narratives can go a step beyond traditional adaption and implement a new and completely different way of connecting with the text.Universidad de Granada. El artículo estudia la cruz procesional de Puebla de Valles (Guadalajara) en el ámbito de la platería complutense de la segunda mitad del siglo XVI y en relación con los plateros Gaspar de Guzmán y Marcos Hernández. También analiza su programa iconográfico en el contexto de la Iglesia de Toledo y señala su carácter excepcional en el panorama de la platería española contemporánea.This paper studies the processional cross of Puebla de Valles (Guadalajara) in the scope of the Complutense silverwork in the second half of the 16th century and in relation to silversmiths Gaspar de Guzmán and Marcos Hernández. It also analyzes its iconographic program in the context of the Church of Toledo and shows its exceptional character in the panorama of contemporary Spanish silverwork

The first report of South American edrioasteroids and the paleoecology and ontogeny of rhenopyrgid echinoderms

A new species of rhenopyrgid edrioasteroid Rhenopyrgus piojoensis sp. nov. is described form the Silurian (Lower Lud− low) Los Espejos Formation in the Precordillera of Argentina. This species is the first reported edrioasteroid from South America. Rhenopyrgids are widely distributed in Ordovician through Devonian deposits of most continents. Numerous juvenile specimens show that the general bodyplan is organized early in ontogeny and that the pedenculate zone lengthens with age. Phylogenetic analysis shows that rhenopyrgids are more closely related to edrioasterid edrioasteroids such as edrioblastoids and cyathocystids than to pyrgocystid isorophids.Fil: Sumrall, Colin D..
