1934: Abilene Christian College Bible Lectures - Full Text

INTRODUCTION The theme for the Lectures for 1934, “The New Testament Church in History,” is a very timely one and follows naturally the theme of the 1933 Lectures, “The Church We Read About in the New Testament.” There is no subject that is so vital in our work as Christians today as a proper understanding of the great spiritual kingdom of our Savior, the church which was built by Jesus Christ. It is a hard lesson to teach because all people are so dull of hearing concerning things spiritual. Just as Nicodemus marveled when the Christ told him of the spiritual kingdom so do people today wonder and marvel when they are told that there is only one great church, the spiritual kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and that all the saved of earth belong to that church and that belonging to anything else profits little, and is unnecessary. Not only are numbers of denominational churches and people who have no religious affiliation ignorant of the true meaning of the church, but even those who claim to be members of the one body are lacking in understanding concerning the kingdom of Christ. It is therefore the purpose of the Abilene College Lectures last year, this year and next year to arouse a greater interest in the study and the teaching of this very vital matter. In this particular volume much valuable information is brought together on the trials and struggles of the church from its foundations to the present. The speakers have made careful preparation on their subjects and have given lessons that should prove helpful to all who desire to have a better understanding of the church. Our prayer is that these Lectures may be read by many and that they may do much good in the name of the Christ. Jas. F. Cox,President, Abilene Christian College. Nov. 6, 1934

Resource Modelling: The Missing Piece of the HTA Jigsaw?

    Get PDF
Within health technology assessment (HTA), cost-effectiveness analysis and budget impact analyses have been broadly accepted as important components of decision making. However, whilst they address efficiency and affordability, the issue of implementation and feasibility has been largely ignored. HTA commonly takes place within a deliberative framework that captures issues of implementation and feasibility in a qualitative manner. We argue that only through a formal quantitative assessment of resource constraints can these issues be fully addressed. This paper argues the need for resource modelling to be considered explicitly in HTA. First, economic evaluation and budget impact models are described along with their limitations in evaluating feasibility. Next, resource modelling is defined and its usefulness is described along with examples of resource modelling from the literature. Then, the important issues that need to be considered when undertaking resource modelling are described before setting out recommendations for the use of resource modelling in HTA

Giddy Up Pay Up: A Public Relations Campaign

    No full text
The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) annually hosts a national campaign case study competition for public relations students known as the Bateman Competition. More than 120 universities compete with teams of four to five students. Central’s 2014 Bateman team had five team members and two alternates. The competition requires students to research, plan, implement, and evaluate a strategic public relations campaign in their community based on a topic given by National PRSSA. This year, Fiserv Inc., a leading provider of financial services and technology solutions, was the corporate sponsor and challenged each team to increase awareness and usage of Fiserv’s person-to-person digital payment service, Popmoney. CWU students applied in May 2013 to participate in the competition and in August 2013 conducted primary research regarding previous campaigns last summer. PRSSA National announced the campaign topic in August 2013. From September through December, the team worked cohesively on further research, planning and the campaign development, which could not be executed until February 1, 2014. The CWU campaign, GiddyUpPayUp, peaked with a 5K run, with proceeds donated to the CWU Foundation for a PR scholarship. All of the events for the campaign were powered by Popmoney, including registration for the 5k event. In addition to the Pop of Orange 5K, the team held a PopPong night in the SURC to bring awareness to Popmoney. Furthermore, the CWU Bateman team was also able to host a series of financial awareness nights in the residence halls to talk to on-campus residents about Popmoney
