Uniform structures on differential spaces
The uniform structure on a differential space defined by a family of
generators is considered.Comment: 11 page
Are there Goldstone bosons in ?
We study the viability of spontaneous breaking of continuous symmetries in
theories with Lifshitz scaling, according to the number of space-time
dimensions and the dynamical scaling . Then, the answer to the question
in the title is no (quantum field theoretically) and yes (holographically).
With field theory tools, we show that symmetry breaking is indeed prevented by
large quantum fluctuations when , as expected from scaling
arguments. With holographic tools, on the other hand, we find nothing that
prevents the existence of a vacuum expectation value. This difference is made
possible by the large limit of holography. An important subtlety in this
last framework is that in order to get a proper description of a conserved
current, renormalization of the temporal mode of the bulk vector requires an
alternative quantization. We also comment on the implications of turning on
temperature.Comment: 18 pages. v2: a few clarifying comments added, matches published

On differential completions and compactifications of a differential space
Differential completions and compactifications of differential spaces are
introduced and investigated. The existence of the maximal differential
completion and the maximal differential compactification is proved. A
sufficient condition for the existence of a complete uniform differential
structure on a given differential space is given.Comment: 17 page
Low Dimensional Ordering on a Lattice Model
A simple d-dimensional lattice model is proposed, incorporating some degree
of frustration and thus capable of describing some aspects of molecular
orientation in covalently bound molecular solids. For d=2 the model is shown to
be equivalent to the standard two-dimensional Ising model, while for d>2 it
describes a peculiar transition from an isotropic high temperature phase to a
low-dimensional anisotropic low temperature state. A general mean field
analysis is presented and compared to some exact limit properties.Comment: 11 pages, 2 PostScript figures, to appear in Phys. Lett.

Studies of the complexation behavior of tetramorpholinylo-PNP-lariat ether with Ag(I), Ca(II), Cd(II), Cu(II) and Pb(II) using Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry
In this publication the cationic metal complexes of tetramorpholinylo-PNP-lariat ether have been
studied using electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). The tandem mass spectra (MS/MS) of
these complexes have also been tested to evaluate the stability of the different types of the
complexes formed. As occurred, all selected metal cations form the complexes with 1 : 1 stoichiometry
with the investigated ligand. Only silver ions create a ‘‘sandwich’’ type complex. Furthermore, the
divalent cations form complexes with the nitrate anion adduct. In the case of Ca(II), Cd(II) and Pb(II) we
also observed another type of the species with an additional water molecule attached to the parent
complex
