Moekasan, A. Everaarts, H. de Putter, Subhan, and W. Adiyoga. 2008. The Growth and Yield of Sweet Pepper Planted on Two Types of Plastichouse Construction and Two Kinds of Growing Media. An experiment to determine the growth and yield of sweet pepper grown in 2 different plastichouse constructions and 2 growing media was conducted at the field experiment of Indonesian Vegetable Research Institute, Lembang (1,250 m asl.), West Java from May 2004 to February 2005. Sweet pepper plants were grown at 2 different plastichouse constructions i.e. (1) bamboo plastichouse and (2) wood-metal type plastichouse. Plant spacing in each plastichouse was 1.20x0.50 m. Two planting media i.e. perlite and rice husk were also evaluated as the treatment factor. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design and each treatment combination was replicated 6 times. The results indicated that plastichouse construction affected the light intensity intercepted in each plastichouse and the wood-metal type plastichouse intercepted light 12.6% higher than that in the bamboo plastichouse. Fruit weight and fruit number per plant of sweet pepper grown at the wood-metal type plastichouse were higher than those of grown at the bamboo plastichouse. Sweet pepper plant grown in rice husk growing media gave higher either fruit weight or fruit number per plant than those grown in perlite. In order to reduce the high temperature occurred in the wood-metal type plastichouse, ventilation could be provided on the roof or increasing the plant population

Platelet Inhibition, Endothelial Function, and Clinical Outcome in Patients Presenting With ST-Segment-Elevation Myocardial Infarction Randomized to Ticagrelor Versus Prasugrel Maintenance Therapy: Long-Term Follow-Up of the REDUCE-MVI Trial

Background Off-target properties of ticagrelor might reduce microvascular injury and improve clinical outcome in patients with ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction. The REDUCE-MVI (Evaluation of Microvascular Injury in Revascularized Patients with ST-Segment-Elevation Myocardial Infarction Treated With Ticagrelor Versus Prasugrel) trial reported no benefit of ticagrelor regarding microvascular function at 1 month. We now present the follow-up data up to 1.5 years. Methods and Results We randomized 110 patients with ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction to either ticagrelor 90 mg twice daily or prasugrel 10 mg once a day. Platelet inhibition and peripheral endothelial function measurements includi

Data on the impact of scan quality on the diagnostic performance of CCTA, SPECT, and PET for diagnosing myocardial ischemia defined by fractional flow reserve on a per vessel level

Scan quality directly impacts the diagnostic performance of non-invasive imaging modalities as reported in a substudy of the PACIFC-trial: "Impact of Scan Quality on the Diagnostic Performance of CCTA, SPECT, and PET for Diagnosing Myocardial Ischemia Defined by Fractional Flow Reserve" [1]. This Data-in-Brief paper supplements the hereinabove mentioned article by presenting the diagnostic performance of CCTA, SPECT, and PET on a per vessel level for the detection of hemodynamic significant coronary artery disease (CAD) when stratified according to scan quality and vascular territory

Comparison between the performance of quantitative flow ratio and perfusion imaging for diagnosing myocardial ischemia

OBJECTIVES This study compared the performance of the quantitative flow ratio (QFR) with single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and positron emission tomography (PET) myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) for the diagnosis of fractional flow reserve (FFR)-defined coronary artery disease (CAD).BACKGROUND QFR estimates FFR solely based on cine contrast images acquired during invasive coronary angiography (ICA). Head-to-head studies comparing QFR with noninvasive MPI are lacking.METHODS A total of 208 (624 vessels) patients underwent technetium -99m tetrofosmin SPECT and [15O]H2O PET imaging before ICA in conjunction with FFR measurements. ICA was obtained without using a dedicated QFR acquisition protocol, and QFR computation was attempted in all vessels interrogated by FFR (552 vessels).RESULTS QFR computation succeeded in 286 (52%) vessels. QFR correlated well with invasive FFR overall (R = 0.79; p < 0.001) and in the subset of vessels with an intermediate (30% to 90%) diameter stenosis (R = 0.76; p < 0.001). Overall, per-vessel analysis demonstrated QFR to exhibit a superior sensitivity (70%) in comparison with SPECT (29%; p < 0.001), whereas it was similar to PET (75%; p = 1.000). Specificity of QFR (93%) was higher than PET (79%; p < 0.001) and not different from SPECT (96%; p = 1.000). As such, the accuracy of QFR (88%) was superior to both SPECT (82%; p = 0.010) and PET (78%; p = 0.004). Lastly, the area under the receiver operating characteristics curve of QFR, in the overall sample (0.94) and among vessels with an intermediate lesion (0.90) was higher than SPECT (0.63 and 0.61; p < 0.001 for both) and PET (0.82; p < 0.001 and 0.77; p = 0.002), respectively.CONCLUSIONS In this head-to-head comparative study, QFR exhibited a higher diagnostic value for detecting FFRdefined significant CAD compared with perfusion imaging by SPECT or PET. The apparent reduction of solitary and primitively eusocial bees populations has remained a huge concern over the past few decades and urbanisation is considered as one of the factors affecting bees at different scales depending on bee guild. As urbanisation is increasing globally it necessitates more research to understand the complex community dynamics of solitary and primitively eusocial bees in urban settings. We investigated the urban core of a British town for diversity and abundance of solitary bees using standardized methods, and compared the results with nearby meadows and nature reserves. The study recorded 48 species within the town, about 22 % of the total species and 58 % of the genera of solitary bees in the United Kingdom. Furthermore we found the urban core to be more diverse and abundant in solitary and primitively eusocial bees compared to the meadows and nature re-serves. Of particular note was an urban record of the nationally rare Red Data Book species Coelioxys quadridentata and its host Anthophora quadrimaculata. This research demonstrates that urban settings can contribute significantly to the conservation of solitary and primitively eusocial bees in Britain

Strain analysis is superior to wall thickening in discriminating between infarcted myocardium with and without microvascular obstruction

Objectives: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the diagnostic performances of strain and wall thickening analysis in discriminating among three types of myocardium after acute myocardial infarction: non-infarcted myocardium, infarcted myocardium without microvascular obstruction (MVO) and infarcted myocardium with MVO. Methods: Seventy-one patients with a successfully treated ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction underwent cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging at 2-6 days after reperfusion. The imaging protocol included conventional cine imaging, myocardial tissue tagging and late gadolinium enhancement. Regional circumferential and radial strain and associated strain rates were analyzed in a 16-segment model as were the absolute and relative wall thickening. Results: Hyperenhancement was detected in 418 (38%) of 1096 segments and was accompanied by MVO in 145 (35%) of hyperenhanced segments. Wall thickening, circumferential and radial strain were all significantly diminished in segments with hyperenhancement and decreased even further if MVO was also present (all p < 0.001). Peak circumferential strain (CS) surpassed all other strain and wall thickening parameters in its ability to discriminate between hyperenhanced and non-enhanced myocardium (all p < 0.05). Furthermore, CS was superior to both absolute and relative wall thickening in differentiating infarcted segments with MVO from infarcted segments without MVO (p = 0.02 and p = 0.001, respectively). Conclusions: Strain analysis is superior to wall thickening in differentiating between non-infarcted myocardium, infarcted myocardium without MVO and
