Método matemático para la sincronización de las cámaras mediante la utilización de algoritmos DDT.

La utilización de los algoritmos DLT para la reconstrucción espacial de los puntos que determinan el sistema de sólidos rígidos de un deportista, requiere la filmación del gesto con dos o mas cámaras sincronizadas en el tiempo. Dicha sincronización ha constituido uno de los puntos críticos del error asociado a dichas técnicas y uno de los problemas de filmación de eventos deportivos debido al cableado que conlleva. En este trabajo se presenta un método matemático que permite dicha sincronización después de haber sido realizada la filmación. El método se basa en el error que se produce en la reconstrucción de las coordenadas 3D, mediante los algoritmos DLT, de un punto que está en movimiento, a partir de dos proyecciones que no coinciden en el tiempo. Dicho error se detecta mediante las diferencias entre las coordenadas digitalizadas y las proyectadas, en soporte de digitalización, del punto que ha sido reconstruido. Cuando el error es mínimo, la sincronización será la adecuada. Los resultados obtenidos han puesto de manifiesto que el método es fiables para puntos que están en movimiento, sugiriendo una metodología en el desarrollo de las técnicas fotogramétricas tridimensionales cuando se aplica a movimientos deportivos.Peer Reviewe

Design of a test bench for measuring friction force in a piston-cylinder system

In the present work, design of a first approach of a test bench prototype for measuring friction in a piston-cylinder system is presented. The bench consists of a motor, belt and pulley transmission, crank mechanism, a piston, a cylinder and a lubrication system. Friction will be determined by means of strain gages placed on the connecting rod of the mechanism. The bench also includes a phonic wheel for acquiring angular speed and angular position signals of the crank. In future research, friction will be studied for different surface finishes obtained by means of honing and plateau honing. Honing processes provide a crosshatch pattern that holds oil and helps lubrication of piston and rings. Honing conditions will be selected with the goal of minimizing friction. Friction is directly related to energy consumption of an engine and, thus, to its environmental impact. Vástago recubierto de hidroxiapatita: Revisión a 5 años

Se evalúan los resultados clínicos y radiológicos de 65 vástagos femorales recubiertos proximalmente de hidroxiapatita de más de 5 años y la existencia de una clara correlación de los cambios remodelativos con los patrones de estrés estudiados por elementos finitos. La edad media fue de 56 años y la patología preoperativa más frecuente fue la artrosis en 38 caos, seguida de la necrosis aséptica en 15. Se utilizó el protocolo de Johnston y col. y el baremo numérico de Merle D'Aubigné, pasando sobre 18 en la revisión. En el 98,4% no había dolor o era ligero y ocasional. Radiográficamente se vieron líneas radiolúcidas alrededor de la parte distal del vástago pulida y afilada en el 89,2%, no apareciendo en las zonas recubiertas de hidroxiapatita. Apareció hipertrofia cortical reactiva en el 13,8% y pequeñas imágenes de osteólisis a nivel proximal en el 10,8 %. Según los criterios de Neg. el 100% de los vástagos estaban osteointegrados.The clinical and radiological results of 65 proximally HA-coated femoral stems were assessed after a minimum follow-up period of five years. The relationship between remodelative changes and the stress patterns was clearly disclosed by finite element modelling. Mean age was 56 years. The most common etiology was osteoarthritis in 38 cases and vascular necrosis in 15. Radiographic and clinical assessment was done after Johnston and col's protocol and the numeric rating of Merle D'Aubigne respectively. The mean preoperative score was 8,5 points, becoming 17,4 points out of 18 at the 5 years review. Occasional or absent pain was fount in 98% of the cases. There were radiolucency lines surrounding the polished and sharp distal stem in 89%, but they were not present at the HA-coated zones. Reactive cortical hypertrophy was present in 14 % and proximal small osteolytics features in 11%. According Engh's criteria, the 100% of the stems were osteintegrated

Modelling a wormhole structure

This paper proposes a model of a hypothetical wormhole done by using non-linear equations of a high degree of complexity to obtain exact solutions. Modelling of a wormhole implies creating a particular gravitational field with a hyperbolically symmetric and static geometric body produced for a hyper-cylindrical and symmetric rest mass that can occur in its short tunnel, and its subsequent thermodynamic study. Starting out from the metric in General Relativity, in order that a short wormhole tunnel might be modelled, it is essential to define the coordinates and covariant metric of a 4-dimensional space with three spatial coordinates and one temporal by applying the summation convention on repeated indices in the system of four generalized coordinates. The limiting form of the line element for flat spacetime at large distances from the origin must be Lorentzian. The line element corresponding to the solution proposed here has to remain invariant under inversion of time interval. In this paper, the simplest quadratic scalar invariant of the Riemann tensor, the Kretschmann invariant, has been taken. Furtehmore, curvilinear coordinates in which the metric tensor components that are outside the main diagonal and that have to have zero value for not having a determined direction in space have been used. The metric can be reduced to a flat metric for an observer at rest located in the “infinite” so that the effects caused by the mass in the gravitational field could be deemed negligible. The results obtained a quasi-exact solution to the Einstein’s equations that describes the gravitational field induced for a hyper-cylindrical geometry similar to a wormhole tunnel. La Libetenita se caracterizó por difracción de rayos X (DRX) y espectroscopía de imágenes de SEM. El análisis térmico mostró que el sólido es estable arriba de 580° C. A temperaturas más altas, la Libetenita se descompone en Cu4O(PO4)2 y agua. El intercambio del ligando agua por oxhidrilo en el fosfato de cobre corresponde a una cinética de pseudo primer orden en fase acuosa con pH alcalino. El producto verde proviene de un compuesto termodinámicamente inestable y cinéticamente inerte a temperatura ambiente. El producto negro obtenido mecanoquímicamente probablemente se deba a la deshidratación de la Libetenita: el Cu4O(PO4)2. Estabilidad.Libethenite or Copper(II) hydroxidephosphate, Cu2 (PO4) (OH), was synthesized using Copper phosphate and sodium hydroxide, through a reaction, a) in hot solution and b) mechanochemical method. The Libethenite was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and spectroscopy SEM images. Thermal analysis showed that the solid is stable up to 580°C. At higher temperatures the Libethenite decomposes in Cu4O(PO4)2 and water. The ligand exchange water by hydroxyl in the copper phosphate corresponds to a pseudo first order kinetics in aqueous phase with an alkaline pH. The green product comes from a thermodynamically unstable and kinetically inert compound at room temperature. The black product obtained mechanochemically is probably due to dehydration Libethenite: the Cu4O(PO4)2. Women as editors-in-chief of environmental science journals

This research note describes an analysis regarding the role of women as editors-in chief of environmental science journals. The list of journals analyzed was obtained from the database of “Web of Science”, published in 2015. This database does not include information on the name or gender of the editors-in-chief of journals, so a web search was performed. The results show that gender inequality is present in this important field of science. Causes of this bias merit more and profound research. The bias observed may not apply to journals of others areas of science
