The famous Albanian-American investigative journalist Nexhmije Zaimi is one of the most outstanding figures of the first generation intelligence of the Albanian diaspora in the U.S A. She is at the same time the only Albanian female of the 1930s who distinguished her name in the Albanian-American community's intellectual circles, being affirmed as a senior journalist - a rare opportunity for an Albanian woman at that time. She had a long active life, filled with activities, but also with a lot of difficulties. Since her early youth, she boldly challenged the patriarchal environment, refused arranged a marriage with a man of a much greater age, and alone by herself crossed the ocean to find her freedom, to build a new independent life in a place of true democracy in the U.S.A. She was graduated brilliantly in prestigious higher educational institutions of America. Thanks to the perseverance, character set, talent and hard work, she became a determined and courageous disciple of free speech in defense of the truth anywhere it was being raised to the level of the most famous American media journalists and the world. It was the first, model to be followed by later Albanian-American journalist of our day, as a journalist, of "Los Angeles Times".Keywords: Journalist, courageous, perseverance, environment, democracy, marriage.

A fenestrated view into the world of the hepatocyte

Hepatocytes, the parenchymal cells that proliferate in the fetal liver, constitute 80% of the liver and are an integral part of liver function, shape, and size. This is an immunofluorescence stain showing the composition of liver tissue: the teal reveals the nuclei of hepatocytes, red is the outline of the cell membrane, and the dark blue shows the nuclei of non-hepatocyte cells. This image, just like a stained glass window, tells a story. A story so complex and fascinating of how the liver works to detoxify your system, control metabolism, and keep you alive. These relatively large cells, invisible to the naked eye, are paramount during the first pass effect, where the liver metabolizes xenobiotics to protect the rest of the body. Without hepatocytes, medications and food normally consumed will not be broken down into the smaller components that your body is able to use. Hepatocytes are windows to your soul... and survival.Ope

Optimum Location of TCSC by Sensitivity Factor Analysis for Congestion Management

    Get PDF
Due to deregulation of electric market transmission congestion occurs due insufficient transmission capacity to accommodate all constraints for transmission of a line. FACTS devices such as Gate Controlled Series Capacitor and Thyristor Control Series Compensator can help to reduce the flow in heavily loaded lines by controlling the power flow in the network. It increases the load ability of the network and reduces the cost of production. Congestion management using series connected FACTS devices can be done in two steps. First, find the optimal location of FACTS device and second, optimize the setting of the control parameter of FACTS device. Three methods to determine the optimal location of series connected FACTS device are discussed in this paper. The approach is based on sensitivity of line loss, total system loss and real power flow performance index. The proposed method has been demonstrated on 9-bus system in MATLAB programming as well as SIMULINK

POLITICAL SYSTEMS AND A CONTINUING ACCOUNT FOR ELUSIVE PEACE IN REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA

This research paper is going to elaborate the five most common political systems of the world and the second part of the mainstream headlines preoccupying the public opinion which continued the saga for entire inhabitants of Republic of Macedonia. The country is internationally known as FYROM, and its government as a whole the recent days after New Year’s Holidays of 2018 was expecting an act of resignation by the Prime minister Nikolla Gruevski and a massive unrest took place by NGO asking to close factories polluting the air. The leading political parties of the government consisting of VMRO (IMRO) (ethnic Macedonian political party) and BDI (DUI) (ethnic Albanian political party) were in the verge of a complete breakdown. These two coalition members were accused by the opposition political party LSDM (SDUM) ( left party) for a great number of scandals; corruption, leading autocratic zests policy, not enjoying EU and NATO, spending public money in non productive means and finally the phone tapping become sources of constant conflict. Social dialogue between the position and opposition was undermined by the head of the government, considered as a roguishly human hobble. The deterioration of the already unfavorable international position of the country endangered the progress leading up to national an interethnic cleansing. These events eventually would shape the future of the state. After the elections the government changed the leading stream which is see as a last chance for survival. The research methods being used throughout this paper are; the method of interview, narrative method, qualitative and quantitative method. Keywords: deterioration, ethnic crisis, Theocracy, Despotism, Ochloracy, Gerontocracy

Integrating planar circuits with superconducting 3D microwave cavities using tunable low-loss couplers

We design and test a low-loss interface between superconducting 3-dimensional microwave cavities and 2-dimensional circuits, where the coupling rate is highly tunable. This interface seamlessly integrates a magnetic antenna and a Josephson junction based coupling element with a cavity, and we demonstrate that the introduced loss from this integration only limits the quality factor to 4.5 million. The cavity external coupling rate can then be tuned from negligibly small to over 3 orders of magnitude larger than the internal loss rate with a characteristic time of 3.2 ns. This switching speed does not impose additional limits on the coupling rate because it is much faster than the coupling rate. Moreover, the coupler can be controlled by baseband signals to avoid interference with microwave signals near the cavity or qubit frequencies. Finally, the coupling element introduces a 0.04 Hz/photon self-Kerr nonlinearity to the cavity, remaining linear in high photon number operations

Status of the differential transformation method

Further to a recent controversy on whether the differential transformation method (DTM) for solving a differential equation is purely and solely the traditional Taylor series method, it is emphasized that the DTM is currently used, often only, as a technique for (analytically) calculating the power series of the solution (in terms of the initial value parameters). Sometimes, a piecewise analytic continuation process is implemented either in a numerical routine (e.g., within a shooting method) or in a semi-analytical procedure (e.g., to solve a boundary value problem). Emphasized also is the fact that, at the time of its invention, the currently-used basic ingredients of the DTM (that transform a differential equation into a difference equation of same order that is iteratively solvable) were already known for a long time by the "traditional"-Taylor-method users (notably in the elaboration of software packages --numerical routines-- for automatically solving ordinary differential equations). At now, the defenders of the DTM still ignore the, though much better developed, studies of the "traditional"-Taylor-method users who, in turn, seem to ignore similarly the existence of the DTM. The DTM has been given an apparent strong formalization (set on the same footing as the Fourier, Laplace or Mellin transformations). Though often used trivially, it is easily attainable and easily adaptable to different kinds of differentiation procedures. That has made it very attractive. Hence applications to various problems of the Taylor method, and more generally of the power series method (including noninteger powers) has been sketched. It seems that its potential has not been exploited as it could be. After a discussion on the reasons of the "misunderstandings" which have caused the controversy, the preceding topics are concretely illustrated.Comment: To appear in Applied Mathematics and Computation, 29 pages, references and further considerations adde

Tissue-resident, extravascular Ly6c- monocytes are critical for inflammation in the synovium

    Get PDF
Monocytes are abundant immune cells that infiltrate inflamed organs. However, the majority of monocyte studies focus on circulating cells, rather than those in tissue. Here, we identify and characterize an intravascular synovial monocyte population resembling circulating non-classical monocytes and an extravascular tissue-resident monocyte-lineage cell (TR-MC) population distinct in surface marker and transcriptional profile from circulating monocytes, dendritic cells, and tissue macrophages that are conserved in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. TR-MCs are independent of NR4A1 and CCR2, long lived, and embryonically derived. TR-MCs undergo increased proliferation and reverse diapedesis dependent on LFA1 in response to arthrogenic stimuli and are required for the development of RA-like disease. Moreover, pathways that are activated in TR-MCs at the peak of arthritis overlap with those that are downregulated in LFA1-/- TR-MCs. These findings show a facet of mononuclear cell biology that could be imperative to understanding tissue-resident myeloid cell function in RA.</p

LYRICAL POETRIES OF EMILY DICKINSON AND DAUT GURRA

    Get PDF
The purpose of this research paper is to analyze and compare the lyrical poems of two outstanding poets, Emily Dickinson and Daut Gurra and at the same time the importance of their work in today’s literature. The study focuses on exploring the might of their poetry and the way the period they lived has influenced and shaped their lives and work. Generally, there is a similarity in their deeds. They both wrote about things that surrounded them, writing mostly in free verse, in this way refusing the conventional rules of poetry of meter and rhyme. Moreover, they both wrote about social themes and both of their work was published posthumously. The material and data for this research paper is acquired mostly from their poems, but also from books and sources from the internet. This study as a whole is divided in three parts, the first part is the introduction, the second part of this thesis a brief discussion about Dickinson’s life is presented, followed by an analysis on her writing style and her poetry. The third part contains a short biography about Daut Gurra, followed by chapters explaining his writing style and analyzing his work. Everyone who has tried to read and analyze her work knows that her poetry in general is difficult to understand, especially if you are a non-English speaker, the reason for this is because her poetry is unique and cannot be categorized. Her use of words in English Language and the meaning behind those words are often challenging but that is also the reason that makes her poetry unique in its style. The methods used when working on this thesis are the deductive method, qualitative research method, narrative method and the historical approach. Keywords: Seclusion, posthumously, comparison, similarities
