Application of the Rietveld Method to Quantify Mineral Phases in a Kaolin Mineral
The applications of the mineral kaolin are varied, such as the ceramic industry, and the pharmaceutical industry, among others; although it is generally found in mining deposits accompanied by other mineral species considered contaminants. The above makes it necessary to apply qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques that determine the purity of the mineral, from its extraction, during its mechanical processing and kaolin recovery. In this work, a procedure for quantification of the majority species in the Kaolin mineral is proposed, according to the procedure proposed by Rietveld, from the diffractogram obtained by the x-ray diffraction technique, as well as the knowledge of the crystallographic characteristics of the mineral constituents. Three models are proposed based on the structural parameters of the phases present in the system: tridymite, cristobalite, and kaolinite. The experimental results show the total adjustment of the diffraction pattern in which it is observed that the weight percentage corresponds to 40.0% for tridymite, 39.5% for cristobalite, and 20.5% for kaolinite. These results were corroborated by specific semi-quantitative chemical analyses using scanning electron microscopy.
Knowledge Networks around the Strategic Alliances of Micro Coffee Producers
The organizational process that goes from the knowledge networks to the strategic alliances supposes a management, production and transfer of information that the literature differentiates according to the degree of empathy, commitment, entrepreneurship, innovation and satisfaction of leaders and followers. In this sense, the objective of this study was to study the phenomenon in coffee growers in central Mexico. From a structural model ⌠X 2 = 321.23 (34gl) p = 0.009; GFI = 0.990; CFI = 0.975; RMSEA = 0.008⌡, after establishing the reliability and validity of an instrument, it was found that innovation determines satisfaction (0.51), although the type of study, sample selection and analysis limit the findings to the specific context of the investigation. Lines concerning the extension of work to different contexts and samples are noticed
Situational-Context for Virtually Modeling the Elderly
The generalized aging of the population is incrementing the pressure over, frequently overextended, healthcare systems. This situations is even worse in underdeveloped, sparsely populated regions like Extremadura in Spain or Alentejo in Portugal. In this paper we propose an initial approach to use the Situational-Context, a technique to seamlessly adapt Internet of Things systems to the needs and preferences of their users, for virtually modeling the elderly. These models could be used to enhance the elderly experience when using those kind of systems without raising the need for technical skills. The proposed virtual models will also be the basis for further eldercare innovations in sparsely populated regions
Contrast of a Quality Control Model for Sustainability in a Mexican Organization in Central Mexico
Often, the total quality has been instrumented before being weighted. The strategies even precede a diagnosis in Mexican organizations, but in an opposite sense, the present work set out to establish the reliability and validity of an instrument to measure the perception of total quality based on three indicators related to management. , production and transfer of knowledge. A nonperimental study was carried out with a non-probabilistic selection of 124 administrative staff and employees from an organization in central Mexico. From a structural model ⌠X2 = 123,24 (23df) p = 0,010; GFI = 0,990; CFI =,991; IFI = 0,993; RMSEA = 0,007⌡, it was found that management affects production (0,38) and this about the total perceived quality (0,35), although there are lines of research concerning empathy, commitment, entrepreneurship, satisfaction and happiness in relation to the implementation of continuous improvements to the quality of processes and products

Bioethical Concerns During the COVID-19 Pandemic: What Did Healthcare Ethics Committees and Institutions State in Spain?.
Objectives: Each new wave of the COVID-19 pandemic invites the possible obligation
to prioritize individuals’ access to vital resources, and thereby leads to unresolved and
important bioethical concerns. Governments have to make decisions to protect access
to the health system with equity. The prioritization criteria during a pandemic are both a
clinical and legal-administrative decision with ethical repercussion. We aim to analyse the
prioritization protocols used in Spain during the pandemic which, in many cases, have
not been updated.
Method: We carried out a narrative review of 27 protocols of prioritization proposed
by healthcare ethics committees, scientific societies and institutions in Spain for this
study. The review evaluated shared aspects and unique differences and proffered a
bioethical reflection.
Results: The research questions explored patient prioritization, the criteria applied and
the relative weight assigned to each criterion. There was a need to use several indicators,
being morbidity and mortality scales the most commonly used, followed by facets
pertaining to disease severity and functional status. Although age was initially considered
in some protocols, it cannot be the sole criterion used when assigning care resources.
Conclusions: In COVID-19 pandemic there is a need for a unified set of criteria
that guarantees equity and transparency in decision-making processes. Establishing
treatment indications is not the aim of such criteria, but instead prioritizing access to care
resources. In protocols of prioritization, the principle of efficiency must vary according to
the principle of equity and the criteria used to guarantee such equity.post-print204 K
[EN] Different strategies have been followed to improve the aquaculture of main European farmed fish, such as genetic selection, refinements in culture conditions or enhanced feed formulation and management. However,
more knowledge is required to exploit fish phenotypic plasticity to obtain those that better match aquaculture or market conditions. The overall objective of this mini-review is to identify the latest productive traits recently
performed, mainly in commercial carnivorous species, and underlying biological processes that would be susceptible to improve the competitivity of aquaculture sector through nutritional issues. Thus, this work is
framed within the concepts of Circular Economy and Blue Growth, where it is intended to point out the use of natural compounds extracted from seaweeds, microalgae and by-products of the industry for their inclusion in
aquafeeds, allowing a more efficient use of more sustainable vegetable protein sources, and also to evaluate if these nutraceutical compounds counteract detrimental effects observed by nutritional interventions or
This work was supported by the Projects “FEDER-UCA18-107182”, “FisioBream-II Call for Young Researchers CEI⋅MAR 2019”, “ALGAE4FISH-CEI·MAR Empresa 2018”, “VALINVA-CEI·MAR Empresa 2019”, “SeriBlue-CEI·MAR Empresa 2020”, and co-financed by the spin-off LifeBioencapsulation S.L. Short- and Long-Term Prognosis of Patients With Takotsubo Syndrome Based on Different Triggers: Importance of the Physical Nature
Background
Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) is an acute reversible heart condition initially believed to represent a benign pathology attributable to its self-limiting clinical course; however, little is known about its prognosis based on different triggers. This study compared short- and long-term outcomes between TTS based on different triggers, focusing on various physical triggering events.
Methods and Results
We analyzed patients with a definitive TTS diagnosis recruited for the Spanish National Registry on TTS (RETAKO [Registry on Takotsubo Syndrome]). Short- and long-term outcomes were compared between different groups according to triggering factors. A total of 939 patients were included. An emotional trigger was detected in 340 patients (36.2%), a physical trigger in 293 patients (31.2%), and none could be identified in 306 patients (32.6%). The main physical triggers observed were infections (30.7%), followed by surgical procedures (22.5%), physical activities (18.4%), episodes of severe hypoxia (18.4%), and neurological events (9.9%). TTS triggered by physical factors showed higher mortality in the short and long term, and within this group, patients whose physical trigger was hypoxia were those who had a worse prognosis, in addition to being triggered by physical factors, including age >70 years, diabetes mellitus, left ventricular eyection fraction <30% and shock on admission, and increased long-term mortality risk.
Conclusions
TTS triggered by physical factors could present a worse prognosis in terms of mortality. Under the TTS label, there could be as yet undiscovered very different clinical profiles, whose differentiation could lead to individual better management, and therefore the perception of TTS as having a benign prognosis should be generally ruled out
