Popularizing knowledge in the cyberspace: a travel through multilingualism

The universal declaration of the unesco on the cultural diversity of 2001 explicitly show, among others, the right of the citizens to express, create and spread their works in the language of their choice, the right to an education and a quality formation that respect completely their cultural identity and the right to take part of the cultural life of their choice. In this paper we present some multilingual initiatives in the cyberspace that fight day after day for the respect and the defense of the fundamental rights of the languages and the cultures, despite its minority use, opposite to the linguistic imperialism, promoting in addition, the communication of the science and the research through them.La declaración universal de la unesco sobre la diversidad cultural de 2001 manifiesta explícitamente, entre otros, el derecho de los ciudadanos a expresarse, crear y difundir sus obras en la lengua de su elección, el derecho a una educación y una formación de calidad que respeten plenamente su identidad cultural y el derecho a participar de la vida cultural de su elección. Empresa pública y mercados oligopolísticos: análisis de las reglas de maximizar el beneficio y precio igual a coste marginal

El objetivo de este articulo es comparar desde el punto de vista del bienestar social las reglas de maximizar el beneficio y precio igual a coste marginal en un marco de equilibrio parcial donde los agentes del mercado siguen comportamientos estratégicos. Considerando un sencillo modelo de duopolio, con una empresa privada y otra pública, donde la actividad de la empresa pública es el único instrumento de invertención con que cuenta el gobierno para lograr el máximo bienestar social, establecemos las condiciones bajo las cuales la regla de maximizar el beneficio es superior a la regla de precio igual a coste marginal.Oligopolistic Markets and Public Firm: The Profit Rule with the Maximization Marginal Cost. In a framework of partial equilibrium analysis and assuming strategic behavior of the firms in the market. I will compare the profit maximization rule with the marginal cost pricing rule (MCPR). I use a duopoly model in wich one firms is private and the other is public. The activity of the public firm is the unique way of public intervention in the economy to obtain some welfare goals. lt is found some conditions where the profit maximization rule is better than the MCPR

La movilidad, sello distintivo del Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior

Si bien en los últimos años, en el conjunto de la Unión Europea, se ha producido un aumento en el número de estudiantes que participan en los programas de movilidad, su número aún se considera insuficiente. De esta manera el objetivo del presente artículo es averiguar la percepción de los estudiantes respecto a la movilidad. En general, los estudiantes consideran importante la movilidad, pero se encuentran con algunos obstáculos difíciles de superar para realizar una estancia en el extranjero, tales como son el idioma o la necesidad de financiación adicional para dicho periodo. Así pues, los resultados de este estudio sugieren al nuevo sistema educativo la necesidad de establecer un mayor apoyo financiero a la movilidad así como de unas políticas de información más activas para la potenciación de dicha movilidad. ABSTRACT:While in recent years in the European Union as a whole, there has been an increase in the number of students participating in mobility programs, their number is still considered inadequate. Thus the aim of this paper is to find out the students' perception regarding mobility. In general, students consider mobility important, but face some difficult obstacles for a stay abroad, such as are the language or the need for additional funding for that period. Thus, the results of this study suggest the new educational system the need for increased financial support for mobility as well as a more active information policy for the empowerment of such mobility

Two Separate Subtypes of Early Non-Subplate Projection Neurons in the Developing Cerebral Cortex of Rodents

The preplate of the cerebral cortex contains projection neurons that connect the cortical primordium with the subpallium. These are collectively named pioneer neurons. After preplate partition, most of these pioneer neurons become subplate neurons. Certain preplate neurons, however, never associate with the subplate but rather with the marginal zone. In the present overview, we propose a novel classification of non-subplate pioneer neurons in rodents into two subtypes. In rats, the neurons of the first subtype are calbindin+ (CB), calretinin+ (CR) and L1+ and are situated in the upper part of the preplate before its partition. Neurons of the second subtype are TAG-1+ and are located slightly deeper to the previous population in the preplate. After the preplate partition, the CB+, CR+ and L1+ neurons remain in the marginal zone whereas TAG-1+ neurons become transiently localized in the upper cortical plate. In mice, by contrast, calcium binding proteins did not label pioneer neurons. We define in mice two subtypes of non-subplate pioneer neurons, either L1+ or TAG-1+/cntn2+. We propose these to be the homologues of the two subtypes of non-subplate pioneer neurons of rats. The anatomical distribution of these neuron populations is similar in rats and mice. The two populations of non-subplate pioneer neurons differ in their axonal projections. Axons of L1+ pioneer neurons project to the ganglionic eminences and the anterior preoptic area, but avoid entering the posterior limb of the internal capsule towards the thalamus. Axons of TAG-1+ pioneer neurons project to the lateral parts of the ganglionic eminences at the early stages of cortical histogenesis examined

Una aproximación a la modalidad de Flipped Classroom en la asignatura de Bioquímica

Con el fin de mejorar la actividad docente y dotar a los estudiantes de competencias y conocimientos para enfrentarse a los retos de la sociedad actual, la docencia universitaria está incorporando nuevos y variados recursos educativos. La modalidad Flipped Classroom (FC) o clase inversa, es un buen ejemplo de modelo pedagógico nuevo en el que algunos procesos de aprendizaje se realizan fuera del aula realizándose en ella, aquellos que promueven la integración de los conocimientos. De esta manera, un equipo de profesores de una Universidad Privada de la Comunidad de Madrid con docencia en la asignatura de Bioquímica en el Grado de Fisioterapia, ha diseñado un modelo de clase inversa en el que se ha integrado diversas herramientas FC (mapas conceptuales, videos, cuestionarios online, Dashboard, Edpuzzle, Drive…), para evaluar la efectividad de estas en relación a la adquisición de conocimientos con esta nueva metodologías El enfoque integral del modelo de actividad propuesta utilizando esta metodología basada en la implicación y participación del alumno en su propio aprendizaje, ha generado unos resultados altamente positivos con una mejora sustancial en las calificaciones.In order to improve teaching and provide students with skills and knowledge to meet the challenges of today's society, university teaching is incorporating new and varied educational resources. Flipped Classroom mode (FC) or inverse class is a good example of new educational model in which some learning processes are performed outside the classroom performing in it, thosewho promote the integration of knowledge. Thus, a team of teachers from a private university of the Community of Madrid with teaching in the subject of Biochemistry in the Degree of Physiotherapy, has designed a model of reverse class which has integrated various tools FC (concept maps, video, online questionnaires, Dashboard, Edpuzzle, Drive ...) to evaluate the effectiveness of these in relation to the acquisition of knowledge with this new methodologies the holistic approach model proposed activity using this methodology based on the involvement and participation of students in their own learning, has generated very positive results with a substantial improvement in ratings

Energy harvesting from transverse galloping

Some elastic bluff bodies under the action of a fluid flow can experience transverse galloping and lose stability if the flow velocity exceeds a critical value. For flow velocities higher than this critical value, there is an energy transfer from the flow to the body and the body develops an oscillatory motion. Usually, it is considered as an undesirable effect for civil or marine structures but here we will show that if the vibration is substantial, it can be used to extract useful energy from the surrounding flow. This paper explores analytically the potential use of transverse galloping in order to obtain energy. To this end, transverse galloping is described by a one-degree-of-freedom model where fluid forces obey the quasi-steady hypothesis. The influence of cross-section geometry and mechanical properties in the energy conversion factor is investigated
