    Effects of Yifukang Oral Liquid on Chemotherapy- and Radiotherapy-Induced Toxic and Side Effects of Myelosuppression, Leucopenia and Gastrointestinal Tract Disturbances

    Purpose: To investigate the effects of Yifukang oral liquid (YFKOL) on chemotherapy- and radiotherapy-induced myelosuppression, leucopenia and gastrointestinal tract disturbances.Methods: The effects of YFKOL on myelosuppression, leucopenia and gastrointestinal tract disturbances were assessed by cyclophosphamide- and Co60-induced leucopenia in mice, copper sulfate-induced emesis in pigeons, ethanol-induced gastric mucosal lesions in rats, gastric emptying and intestinal propulsion in mice.Results: In cyclophosphamide- and Co60-induced leucopenia assays, the mean white blood cell count (82.6 and 90.1 × 109/L; 7.3 and 8.2 × 109/L, respectively) and thighbone marrow granulocytes (66.1 % and 67.4 %; 60.8 and 66.5 %, respectively) were significantly (p < 0.05) increased after treatment with YFKOL (15 and 30 mL/kg), compared with the respective control (68.2 and 4.7 × 109/L; 58.2 and 53.1 %). In emesis, gastric mucosal lesions, gastric emptying and intestinal propulsion assays, the mean frequency of emesis (30.8 and 22.3 times, respectively) and ulcer index (39.6 and 26.5, respectively) significantly (p < 0.05) decreased, and the mean gastric emptying (25.0 and 24.0 %) and intestinal propulsion (81.9 and 82.8 %) were significantly (p < 0.05) promoted after treatment with YFKOL (10 and 20 mL/kg), compared with the respective control (54.7 times, 62.8, 42.0 and 68.9 %).Conclusion: YFKOL may suppress chemotherapy- and radiotherapy-induced myelosuppression, leucopenia and gastrointestinal tract disturbances.Keywords: Yifukang oral liquid, Gastrointestinal tract disturbances, Leucopenia, Myelosuppression, Tumor, Chemotherapy, Radiotherap

    Characteristics of Globus Pallidus Internus Local Field Potentials in Hyperkinetic Disease

    Background: Dystonia and Huntington's disease (HD) are both hyperkinetic movement disorders but exhibit distinct clinical characteristics. Aberrant output from the globus pallidus internus (GPi) is involved in the pathophysiology of both HD and dystonia, and deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the GPi shows good clinical efficacy in both disorders. The electrode externalized period provides an opportunity to record local field potentials (LFPs) from the GPi to examine if activity patterns differ between hyperkinetic disorders and are associated with specific clinical characteristics.Methods: LFPs were recorded from 7 chorea-dominant HD and nine cervical dystonia patients. Differences in oscillatory activities were compared by power spectrum and Lempel-Ziv complexity (LZC). The discrepancy band power ratio was used to control for the influence of absolute power differences between groups. We further identified discrepant frequency bands and frequency band ratios for each subject and examined the correlations with clinical scores.Results: Dystonia patients exhibited greater low frequency power (6–14 Hz) while HD patients demonstrated greater high-beta and low-gamma power (26–43 Hz) (p < 0.0298, corrected). United Huntington Disease Rating Scale chorea sub-score was positively correlated with 26–43 Hz frequency band power and negatively correlated with the 6–14 Hz/26–43 Hz band power ratio.Conclusion: Dystonia and HD are characterized by distinct oscillatory activity patterns, which may relate to distinct clinical characteristics. Specifically, chorea may be related to elevated high-beta and low-gamma band power, while dystonia may be related to elevated low frequency band power. These LFPs may be useful biomarkers for adaptive DBS to treat hyperkinetic diseases

    Precision measurement of the branching fractions of J/psi -> pi+pi-pi0 and psi' -> pi+pi-pi0

    We study the decays of the J/psi and psi' mesons to pi+pi-pi0 using data samples at both resonances collected with the BES III detector in 2009. We measure the corresponding branching fractions with unprecedented precision and provide mass spectra and Dalitz plots. The branching fraction for J/psi -> pi+pi-pi0 is determined to be (2.137 +- 0.004 (stat.) +0.058-0.056 (syst.) +0.027-0.026 (norm.))*10-2, and the branching fraction for psi' -> pi+pi-pi0 is measured as (2.14 +- 0.03 (stat.) +0.08-0.07 (syst.) +0.09-0.08 (norm.))*10-4. The J/psi decay is found to be dominated by an intermediate rho(770) state, whereas the psi' decay is dominated by di-pion masses around 2.2 GeV/c2, leading to strikingly different Dalitz distributions.Comment: 15 pages, 2 figure

    Study of J/ψppˉJ/\psi\to p\bar{p} and J/ψnnˉJ/\psi\to n\bar{n}

    The decays J/ψppˉJ/\psi\to p\bar{p} and J/ψnnˉJ/\psi\to n\bar{n} have been investigated with a sample of 225.2 million J/ψJ/\psi events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII e+ee^+e^- collider. The branching fractions are determined to be B(J/ψppˉ)=(2.112±0.004±0.031)×103\mathcal{B}(J/\psi\to p\bar{p})=(2.112\pm0.004\pm0.031)\times10^{-3} and B(J/ψnnˉ)=(2.07±0.01±0.17)×103\mathcal{B}(J/\psi\to n\bar{n})=(2.07\pm0.01\pm0.17)\times10^{-3}. Distributions of the angle θ\theta between the proton or anti-neutron and the beam direction are well described by the form 1+αcos2θ1+\alpha\cos^2\theta, and we find α=0.595±0.012±0.015\alpha=0.595\pm0.012\pm0.015 for J/ψppˉJ/\psi\to p\bar{p} and α=0.50±0.04±0.21\alpha=0.50\pm0.04\pm0.21 for J/ψnnˉJ/\psi\to n\bar{n}. Our branching-fraction results suggest a large phase angle between the strong and electromagnetic amplitudes describing the J/ψNNˉJ/\psi\to N\bar{N} decay.Comment: 16 pages, 13 figures, the 2nd version, submitted to PR

    First observation of the M1 transition ψ(3686)γηc(2S)\psi(3686)\to \gamma\eta_c(2S)

    Using a sample of 106 million \psi(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring, we have made the first measurement of the M1 transition between the radially excited charmonium S-wave spin-triplet and the radially excited S-wave spin-singlet states: \psi(3686)\to\gamma\eta_c(2S). Analyses of the processes \psi(2S)\to \gamma\eta_c(2S) with \eta_c(2S)\to \K_S^0 K\pi and K^+K^-\pi^0 gave an \eta_c(2S) signal with a statistical significance of greater than 10 standard deviations under a wide range of assumptions about the signal and background properties. The data are used to obtain measurements of the \eta_c(2S) mass (M(\eta_c(2S))=3637.6\pm 2.9_\mathrm{stat}\pm 1.6_\mathrm{sys} MeV/c^2), width (\Gamma(\eta_c(2S))=16.9\pm 6.4_\mathrm{stat}\pm 4.8_\mathrm{sys} MeV), and the product branching fraction (\BR(\psi(3686)\to \gamma\eta_c(2S))\times \BR(\eta_c(2S)\to K\bar K\pi) = (1.30\pm 0.20_\mathrm{stat}\pm 0.30_\mathrm{sys})\times 10^{-5}). Combining our result with a BaBar measurement of \BR(\eta_c(2S)\to K\bar K \pi), we find the branching fraction of the M1 transition to be \BR(\psi(3686)\to\gamma\eta_c(2S)) = (6.8\pm 1.1_\mathrm{stat}\pm 4.5_\mathrm{sys})\times 10^{-4}.Comment: 7 pages, 1 figure, 1 tabl

    Higher-order multipole amplitude measurement in ψ(2S)γχc2\psi(2S)\to\gamma\chi_{c2}

    Using 106×106106\times10^6 ψ(2S)\psi(2S) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring, the higher-order multipole amplitudes in the radiative transition ψ(2S)γχc2γππ/γKK\psi(2S)\to\gamma\chi_{c2}\to\gamma\pi\pi/\gamma KK are measured. A fit to the χc2\chi_{c2} production and decay angular distributions yields M2=0.046±0.010±0.013M2=0.046\pm0.010\pm0.013 and E3=0.015±0.008±0.018E3=0.015\pm0.008\pm0.018, where the first errors are statistical and the second systematic. Here M2M2 denotes the normalized magnetic quadrupole amplitude and E3E3 the normalized electric octupole amplitude. This measurement shows evidence for the existence of the M2M2 signal with 4.4σ4.4\sigma statistical significance and is consistent with the charm quark having no anomalous magnetic moment.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figure

    Observation of a charged charmoniumlike structure in e+e(DDˉ)±πe^+e^- \to (D^{*} \bar{D}^{*})^{\pm} \pi^\mp at s=4.26\sqrt{s}=4.26GeV

    We study the process e+e(DDˉ)±πe^+e^- \to (D^{*} \bar{D}^{*})^{\pm} \pi^\mp at a center-of-mass energy of 4.26GeV using a 827pb1^{-1} data sample obtained with the BESIII detector at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider. Based on a partial reconstruction technique, the Born cross section is measured to be (137±9±15)(137\pm9\pm15)pb. We observe a structure near the (DDˉ)±(D^{*} \bar{D}^{*})^{\pm} threshold in the π\pi^\mp recoil mass spectrum, which we denote as the Zc±(4025)Z^{\pm}_c(4025). The measured mass and width of the structure are (4026.3±2.6±3.7)(4026.3\pm2.6\pm3.7)MeV/c2^2 and (24.8±5.6±7.7)(24.8\pm5.6\pm7.7)MeV, respectively. Its production ratio σ(e+eZc±(4025)π(DDˉ)±π)σ(e+e(DDˉ)±π)\frac{\sigma(e^+e^-\to Z^{\pm}_c(4025)\pi^\mp \to (D^{*} \bar{D}^{*})^{\pm} \pi^\mp)}{\sigma(e^+e^-\to (D^{*} \bar{D}^{*})^{\pm} \pi^\mp)} is determined to be 0.65±0.09±0.060.65\pm0.09\pm0.06.     Measurement of the proton form factor by studying e+eppˉe^{+} e^{-}\rightarrow p\bar{p}

    Using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we measure the Born cross section of e+eppˉe^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow p\bar{p} at 12 center-of-mass energies from 2232.4 to 3671.0 MeV. The corresponding effective electromagnetic form factor of the proton is deduced under the assumption that the electric and magnetic form factors are equal (GE=GM)(|G_{E}|= |G_{M}|). In addition, the ratio of electric to magnetic form factors, GE/GM|G_{E}/G_{M}|, and GM|G_{M}| are extracted by fitting the polar angle distribution of the proton for the data samples with larger statistics, namely at s=\sqrt{s}= 2232.4 and 2400.0 MeV and a combined sample at s\sqrt{s} = 3050.0, 3060.0 and 3080.0 MeV, respectively. The measured cross sections are in agreement with recent results from BaBar, improving the overall uncertainty by about 30\%. The GE/GM|G_{E}/G_{M}| ratios are close to unity and consistent with BaBar results in the same q2q^{2} region, which indicates the data are consistent with the assumption that GE=GM|G_{E}|=|G_{M}| within uncertainties.Comment: 13 pages, 24 figure

    Observation of the ψ(13D2)\psi(1^3D_2) state in e+eπ+πγχc1e^+e^-\to\pi^+\pi^-\gamma\chi_{c1} at BESIII

    We report the observation of the X(3823)X(3823) in the process e+eπ+πX(3823)π+πγχc1e^+e^-\to \pi^+\pi^-X(3823) \to \pi^+\pi^-\gamma\chi_{c1} with a statistical significance of 6.2σ6.2\sigma, in data samples at center-of-mass energies s=\sqrt{s}=4.230, 4.260, 4.360, 4.420 and 4.600~GeV collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII electron positron collider. The measured mass of the X(3823)X(3823) is (3821.7±1.3±0.7)(3821.7\pm 1.3\pm 0.7)~MeV/c2c^2, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic, and the width is less than 1616~MeV at the 90\% confidence level. The products of the Born cross sections for e+eπ+πX(3823)e^+e^-\to \pi^+\pi^-X(3823) and the branching ratio B[X(3823)γχc1,c2]\mathcal{B}[X(3823)\to \gamma\chi_{c1,c2}] are also measured. These measurements are in good agreement with the assignment of the X(3823)X(3823) as the ψ(13D2)\psi(1^3D_2) charmonium state.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures, version to appear in Phys. Rev. Let
