Manufacturing System Design in Industry 5.0: Incorporating Sociotechnical Systems and Social Metabolism for Human-Centered, Sustainable, and Resilient Production

This paper delves into the concept of social metabolism as a foundation for the development of sociotechnical systems in Industry 5.0. The study conducts an analysis of the existing methods and approaches for designing sociotechnical systems, and reviews publications that utilize such systems to incorporate Industry 4.0 technologies into manufacturing processes. Additionally, it examines the three key factors of Industry 5.0 and the enabling framework of Industry 4.0 technologies. Based on these investigations, a theoretical model is proposed for manufacturing system design, employing sociotechnical systems to integrate Industry 4.0 enabling technologies, while considering the essential aspects of Industry 5.0. The model emphasizes the early consideration of sociotechnical systems to design manufacturing systems that prioritize human-centricity, sustainability, and resilience. By embracing this comprehensive approach, the proposed model contributes to the realization of a production environment aligned with societal needs, fostering a more conscious and adaptable industry

Social smart manufacturing systems in industry 5.0: values as integrators between the operator and technology

La Industria 4.0 tiene entre sus principales objetivos el desarrollo e implementación de sistemas ciberfísicos impulsados por las tecnologías avanzadas de la comunicación e información. Este carácter da como resultado sistemas de fabricación que denotan una importante pérdida de valor social. La Industria 5.0 surge en este contexto para facilitar la incorporación, entre otros, de principios de sostenibilidad social en la interacción de los operadores con la tecnología dentro de los procesos de fabricación avanzada. En el presente trabajo se evalúa el grado de impacto que la tecnología desarrollada en el seno de la Industria 4.0 está produciendo en los operadores. Además, se analiza cómo la inclusión de Valores Sociales en los diferentes niveles de aplicación: macro (organizacional), meso (planta de producción) y micro (puesto de trabajo), permite garantizar la integración entre el operador y las nuevas tecnologías en los sistemas de interacción hombre-máquina. Por último, se presentan los desafíos que surgen en torno a este paradigma de fabricación, para ofrecer una visión de futuro que sea beneficiosa en la práctica de los entornos industriales social-inteligentes.Industry 4.0 has among its main objectives the development and implementation of cyberphysical systems driven by advanced communication and information technologies. This carácter results in manufacturing systems that denote a significant loss of social value. Industry 5.0 arises in this context to facilitate the incorporation, among others, of social sustainability principles in the interaction of operators with technology within advanced manufacturing processes. In the present work, the level of impact that the technology developed within Industry 4.0 is producing in the operators is evaluated. In addition, it analyzes how the inclusion of Social Values in the different levels of application: macro (organizational), meso (manufacturing plant) and micro (workstation), allows to guarantee the integration between the operator and the new technologies in the human-machine interaction systems. Finally, the challenges that arise around this manufacturing paradigm are presented to offer a vision of the future that is beneficial in the practice of social-smart industrial environments

Intercultural sensitivities and citizenships. Challenges for education

El presente artículo no pretende ser una memoria de lo realizado ni una propuesta ampliamente fundamentada, en todo caso, busca ser un mapa para pensar la educación intercultural, mostrando lo avanzado y lo existente en torno a la temática y tratando de delinear caminos que se puedan construir asumiendo el reto del presente. Por un lado, se realiza un somero balance sobre lo que se ha denominado educación sobre la diversidad y, por otro, se vislumbra lo que podría ser una educación intercultural pensada para todos a partir de acciones posibles.This article does not pretend to be a memory of what has been done or a widely based proposal, in any case it seeks to be a map to think about intercultural education, showing what is advanced and what exists around the subject and tries to outline paths that can be built assuming the challenge of the present. Derecho a la educación de niños y niñas en situación de movilidad internacional

Last past years Latinoamerica has been a migratory escenary without precedents, as a consecuence from that, complete families have been moving from different countries searching for better opportunities. In this context, the right to education in children population, indeed this context, has been affected, above all having difficulties to be part of educational systems in the transit or destiny countries. In 2021 the International Integration Institute of the Andrés Bello Organization Agreement (Instituto Internacional de Integración de la Organización del Convenio Andrés Bello) in La Paz – Bolivia, has developed an investigation designated to identify the mechanisms to warranty the Childrens’ Education Right in International Mobility Situation in Bolivia. The investigation has been implemented starting with three components. The first one assigned to recognice the children study knowledge throught the CAB Equivalence Chart; the second, to the Educational Support Program implementation to children’s in mobility situation and, the third, to teachers training based on classroom educative integration. In this way, under intercultural educative approach, the mechanims and actions of many actors committed, it has been running the process of children’s education inclusión in international mobility situation. En los últimos años, Latinoamérica ha sido escenario de un fenómeno migratorio sin precedentes, como consecuencia de ello familias íntegras han tenido que transitar por distintos países en busca de mejores oportunidades. En ese contexto, el derecho a la educación de la población infantil, inmersa en este fenómeno, se ha visto afectado, sobre todo al tener dificultades para incorporarse a los sistemas educativos de los países de tránsito y de destino. El año 2021 el Instituto Internacional de Integración de la Organización del Convenio Andrés Bello,con sedeen La Paz - Bolivia, ha desarrollado unainvestigación destinada a identificar los mecanismos para garantizar el derecho a la educación de niñas y niños en situación de movilidad internacional asentados en Bolivia1. La investigación ha sido ejecutada a partir de tres componentes. El primero destinado al reconocimiento de los estudios de los niños y niñas mediante el instrumento de la Tabla de Equivalencias del CAB; el segundo, a la implementación de un programa de apoyo educativo para niños y niñas en situación de movilidad y, el tercero a la capacitación docente en torno a la integración educativa en las aulas. De esa manera, bajo el enfoque educativo intercultural, los mecanismos y acciones de diversos actores comprometidos, se ha puesto en marcha el proceso de inclusión educativa de los niños y niñas en situación de movilidad internacional

Oportunidades y valores de la industria 5.0 en la gestión de la prevención de riesgos laborales

La Industria 5.0 surge respaldada por las tecnologías de la Industria 4.0 pero con el objetivo de que la producción respete los límites de nuestro planeta, colocando el bienestar del trabajador en el centro del proceso productivo. Esta nueva etapa no se basa en tecnologías, sino en valores recogidos bajo tres grandes enfoques: el Ser Humano, la Sostenibilidad y la Resiliencia. Este cambio de paradigma permite que la transformación tecnológica pueda diseñarse de acuerdo con las necesidades de la sociedad, no al revés. En este trabajo se profundiza en los aspectos que configuran los diferentes valores en los que se basa la Industria 5.0, orientándose a identificar las oportunidades que esto brinda en la Gestión de la Prevención de Riesgos Laborales. En base a lo anterior, se propone una metodología de diseño, denominada Diseño Sensible a Valores (DSV). Esta trata de establecer objetivos de diseño, que sirven como vía entre los valores abstractos de la Industria 5.0 y los factores de riesgo que se quieren reducir

Each Mycobacterium Requires a Specific Culture Medium Composition for Triggering an Optimized Immunomodulatory and Antitumoral Effect

Mycobacterium bovis bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) remains the first treatment option for non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (BC) patients. In research laboratories, M. bovis BCG is mainly grown in commercially available media supplemented with animal-derived agents that favor its growth, while biomass production for patient treatment is performed in Sauton medium which lacks animal-derived components. However, there is not a standardized formulation of Sauton medium, which could affect mycobacterial characteristics. Here, the impact of culture composition on the immunomodulatory and antitumor capacity of M. bovis BCG and Mycolicibacterium brumae, recently described as efficacious for BC treatment, has been addressed. Both mycobacteria grown in Middlebrook and different Sauton formulations, differing in the source of nitrogen and amount of carbon source, were studied. Our results indicate the relevance of culture medium composition on the antitumor effect triggered by mycobacteria, indicating that the most productive culture medium is not necessarily the formulation that provides the most favorable immunomodulatory profile and the highest capacity to inhibit BC cell growth. Strikingly, each mycobacterial species requires a specific culture medium composition to provide the best profile as an immunotherapeutic agent for BC treatment. Our results highlight the relevance of meticulousness in mycobacteria production, providing insight into the application of these bacteria in BC research

Planning robot formations with fast marching square including uncertainty conditions

This paper presents a novel algorithm to solve the robot formation path planning problem working under uncertainty conditions such as errors the in robot's positions, errors when sensing obstacles or walls, etc. The proposed approach provides a solution based on a leader-followers architecture (real or virtual leaders) with a prescribed formation geometry that adapts dynamically to the environment. The algorithm described herein is able to provide safe, collision-free paths, avoiding obstacles and deforming the geometry of the formation when required by environmental conditions (e.g. narrow passages). To obtain a better approach to the problem of robot formation path planning the algorithm proposed includes uncertainties in obstacles' and robots' positions. The algorithm applies the Fast Marching Square (FM2) method to the path planning of mobile robot formations, which has been proved to work quickly and efficiently. The FM2 method is a path planning method with no local minima that provides smooth and safe trajectories to the robots creating a time function based on the properties of the propagation of the electromagnetic waves and depending on the environment conditions. This method allows to easily include the uncertainty reducing the computational cost significantly.
