Phase Magnitude Diagram for Linear Systems With Delay

[Abstract] Transfer functions can be viewed as complex functions where the magnitude and the phase of a system depend on complex numbers. In our previous work, we have developed a graphical tool where transfer functions are represented in a four-dimensional space. The magnitude is represented in decibels in the third dimension and a color code is applied to represent the phase in a fourth dimension. Level curves are used to compare points with the same magnitude or phase. This tool, which is called Phase Magnitude diagram, makes it more intuitive to understand complex functions. This representation allows the user to visually obtain the phase and the gain that have to be added to a system to meet some design specifications. After that, any control approach can be employed. The application to systems with delay is discussed in this paper. It is demonstrated that the Phase Magnitude diagram can be efficiently applied to design an ideal PD controller for a system with delay. In addition, it is deduced that this instrument is not limited to this class of system.https://doi.org/10.17979/spudc.978849749808

The dossier presented in this issue of Interlitteraria analyzes the complex relation between literary and artistic practices, and the situations of censorship and political repression suffered, opposed or responded to, in Lusophone and Hispanophone contexts during the 20th and 21st centuries. Even if many of the case studies deal with Iberian and Ibero-American dictatorships, with this special issue we want to reflect on the concepts of “repression” and “censorship” beyond the scope of authoritarian regimes, for these are processes that manifest themselves in different forms and also in apparently or superficially democratic scenarios. In fact, Iberian and Latin American contexts offer good examples of the persistence of patterns of rejection, repression and censorship in recent times, as well as of the range and potentialities of artistic and creative responses to these patterns. In both cases, we find models and manifestations of “direct violence”, but also more complex and concealed articulations leading to more subtle, and sometimes more dangerous ways, of censorship. From that viewpoint, this special issue discusses topics such as the individual construction of memories of political violence; the reflection of the artists’ own role in a context of repression, or the possibilities of artistic creation as self-affirmation against censorship.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

The aim of this study was to determine the interest shown by parents in the Municipal Sports Schools where children are involved, analyzing their involvement both in training and in competitions. Participants who took part in the study were 357 parents, 448 children and 36 technicians from 45 sports Municipal Sports Schools Seville. Several types of sports were studied: indoor soccer, soccer 7, basketball, volleyball, handball, badminton and tennis. The methodology was carried out through three different questionnaires, which were composed of different blocks of dimensions, among which we can find the father's relationship with the coach of your child, the level of satisfaction with the technical work and actions of the father in the party. The analysis carried out related data from different questionnaires answered by parents and children at Municipal Sports Schools, through a statistical triangulation. After analyzing the results, it was observed that the involvement of parents is low, although these also depend largely on the sport in which they participate, as it is revealed by the differences found in terms of districts and sport

Technologies for social inclusion and sustainable development dynamics: socio-technical analysis of local development experiences based on renewable energy use

The aim of this paper is to analyze, from a socio-technical perspective, a set of initiatives, projects and policies oriented to harnessing renewable energy in Argentina, particularly, actions in order to promote sustainable local development dynamics and social inclusion. In recent years, several experiments and projects are being implemented in Argentina. However, most of these experiences, projects and policies ultimately manifest as a palliative, since only provide energy, offering a point solution to a complex problem. Thus, the energy needs linked to productive activities or local development strategies are not covered. This paper first presents a set of analytical tools that will proceed to the deconstruction and reconstruction of the problems and solutions related to the development and implementation of policies and research projects in the renewable energy field. Secondly, it presents a summary of the socio-technical trajectory of some examples of this type of experience in Argentina, and finally concludes with some remarks about the process of co-construction of technology, social problems, public policies and local development dynamics.Fil: Garrido, Santiago Manuel. Breast milk enhances the predominance of Bifidobacterium species in the infant gut, probably due to its large concentration of human milk oligosaccharides (HMO). Here we screened infant-gut isolates of Bifidobacterium longum subsp. infantis and Bifidobacterium bifidum using individual HMO, and compared the global transcriptomes of representative isolates on major HMO by RNA-seq. While B. infantis displayed homogeneous HMO-utilization patterns, B. bifidum were more diverse and some strains did not use fucosyllactose (FL) or sialyllactose (SL). Transcriptomes of B. bifidum SC555 and B. infantis ATCC 15697 showed that utilization of pooled HMO is similar to neutral HMO, while transcriptomes for growth on FL were more similar to lactose than HMO in B. bifidum. Genes linked to HMO-utilization were upregulated by neutral HMO and SL, but not by FL in both species. In contrast, FL induced the expression of alternative gene clusters in B. infantis. Results also suggest that B. bifidum SC555 does not utilize fucose or sialic acid from HMO. Surprisingly, expression of orthologous genes differed between both bifidobacteria even when grown on identical substrates. This study highlights two major strategies found in Bifidobacterium species to process HMO, and presents detailed information on the close relationship between HMO and infant-gut bifidobacteria

The system applies a new differential time of arrival (DTOA) technique with reduced computational cost, which is called ALO (angle localization and orientation). Instead of directly calculating its position, the system calculates the direction of arrival of the received ultrasonic signal and, through it, its position and orientation. A prototype of a robot has been built in order to show the validity of the method through experimental results
