The determinants of football match attendance revisited: Empirical evidence from the Spanish Football League

An attendance equation is estimated using data on individual games played in the Spanish First Division Football League. The specification includes as explanatory factors: economic variables, quality, uncertainty and opportunity costs. We concentrate the analysis on some specification issues such as controlling the effect of unobservables given the panel data structure of the data set, the type of functional form and the potential endogeneity of prices. We obtain the expected effects on attendance for all the variables. The estimated price elasticities are smaller than one in absolute value as usually occurs in this literature but are sensitive to the specification issues.Attendance, price elasticity, panel data

Towards Syntactic Iberian Polarity Classification

Lexicon-based methods using syntactic rules for polarity classification rely on parsers that are dependent on the language and on treebank guidelines. Thus, rules are also dependent and require adaptation, especially in multilingual scenarios. We tackle this challenge in the context of the Iberian Peninsula, releasing the first symbolic syntax-based Iberian system with rules shared across five official languages: Basque, Catalan, Galician, Portuguese and Spanish. En aquest article s'explica com les reaccions d'autoassemblatge (self-assembly) permeten la construcció racional i programada de molts metal·lomacrocicles o espècies discretes amb geometries poligonals o polièdriques. La comunicación que les presentamos parte de la constatación de la falta de memoria y referentes sobre la genealogía de las mujeres cineastas. Pretende revisar la historiografía actual haciendo visible la biografía y filmografía de las mujeres que fueron cineastas a los inicios de la Historia del Cine Español, haciendo un recorrido por la situación histórica que deshizo esta incipiente profesión debido a las construcciones sociales de género imperantes en la época. Las mujeres han sido profesionales de la industria del cine desde sus inicios, pero su aportación a la memoria visual no ha sido incluida en el patrimonio cultural mundial. Analizaremos las causas de esta invisibilización, daremos valor a su trabajo y reivindicaremos su impacto artístico y documental en el mundo del cine, trayectorias que han ido de la mano de los cambios históricos y las construcciones sociales de género de finales del siglo XIX y principios de los XX

La primera temporada de True Detective, más allá del revuelo desatado en redes sociales, planteaba interesantes cuestiones de fondo sobre las relaciones que se establecen entre los espacios que habitamos, las quiebras que surgen en la definición de lo doméstico y su relación con las acciones heroicas. Nuestro trabajo pretende ahondar entre esos tres vectores, poniendo especial hincapié en la manera en la que la forma audiovisual televisiva traduce y aborda las hendiduras en la experiencia de la familia y la justicia para el sujeto contemporáneo. No pretendemos basarnos únicamente en las lecturas heredadas de la narratología heroica clásica (Joseph Campbell), sino preguntarnos por la manera en la que ciertos recursos audiovisuales concretos (el plano secuencia, el uso del contraplano…) generan una significación determinada, ambigua pero estimulante, a propósito de las experiencias y los modos del habitar. A modo concreto de ejemplo, utilizaremos principalmente el célebre plano secuencia incorporado en el cuarto episodio de la primera temporada, un ejemplo especialmente útil para plantearnos no solo por las posibilidades de significación de ciertos recursos audiovisuales, sino también por la manera en la que dicho plano fue entendido como una suerte de “descubrimiento” por parte de una audiencia poco acostumbrada a los estilemas de la modernidadThe first season of True Detective, beyond the uproar transmitted by social networks, raised some interesting questions about the relations established between the spaces that we dwell, the breaks who emerge over our definition of the domestic experience, and their relations with the heroical behaviours. Our work will try to explore those three vectors, especially with their relation with the way that the television audiovisual form translates and faces the problems of the familiar and domestical experience. At the same time, we will look for the new implacations of terms like “justice” or “family” in the contemporary mythologies. We will not only work with the classical methodological systems developed by Joseph Campbell, but to raise the main questions about how some concrete audiovisual forms (the sequence-shot, the use of the reverse angle…) create concrete meanings, specially in the showing of the ways of dwelling. Role of Mo in catalysts based on noble metals in hydrodeoxygenation reactions

The use of bio-energy as a renewable alternative to fossil fuels is nowadays attracting more and more attention. The bio-fuel from biomass seems to be a potential energy substitute for fossil fuels since it is a renewable resource that could contribute to sustainable development and global environmental preservation and it appears to have significant economic potential1. The problem is its high oxygen content, which gives undesirable properties for combustion. To remove oxygen, catalytic hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) reactions are carried out. Monometallic Mo/Si, Pt/Si as well as bimetallic PtMo/Si catalysts were prepared and evaluated in the hydrodeoxygenation (HDO)reaction of dibenzofurane (DBF) as a model molecule in biomass derived bio-oil.Universidad de Málaga.
