In this Final Degree Project, our object of study focuses on the different advertising campaigns carried out and disseminated by the Ministry of Equality during the last term of office of the socialist president Pedro Sánchez and Irene Montero, from Unidas Podemos, as Minister of Equality. This last term covers from 2020 to the present. The reason for focusing the study on this last stage is mainly to analyze the most current advertising campaigns in harmony with the current education in gender equality and because of the great debate and controversy that has been causing for years both the budgets and the results of Irene Montero's ministry. The main task has been to analyze the advertising message of all advertising initiatives that have been carried out to date. Subsequently, a survey was carried out to extract quantitative data on the public opinion of a representative sample about the Ministry of Equality and its advertising campaigns. After compiling the results, we have proposed a new advertising campaign that takes into account the learnings and data obtained. The proposal for the new campaign is based on a Briefing and is innovative and effective in the fight against gender violence and social inequality between men and women. Having verified that the majority of respondents have demanded an empathetic testimonial gender advertising spot, the proposal is composed of a literary and technical script based on the representation of testimonies of victims of gender violence, with a positive message of exit and action. The final objective of this final degree work is to contribute to the eradication of gender violence and social inequality in Spain through a new advertising campaign that is effective and reaches citizens in an appropriate way. The research can be a valuable tool for the Ministry of Equality and other agencies in charge of the fight against gender violence and social inequality

Self Learning and self evaluation exercises database in basic mechanics: a theoretical-practical approach

    Get PDF
In the School of Mines of the Technical University of Madrid (UPM) the first course of different degrees has been implemented and adapted to the European Higher Educational Area (EHEA). In all of the degrees there is a first semester course which gathers all the contents of basic mechanics: from the first kinematics concepts to the rigid solid plane motion Before the Bologna process took place, the authors had established the final assessment of the theoretical contents through open questions of theoretical-practical character In the present work, the elaboration of a wide database containing theoretical-practical questions that students can access on line is presented. The questions are divided in thirteen different questionnaires composed of a number of questions randomly chosen from a certain group in the database. Each group corresponds to a certain learning objective that the student knows. After answering the questionnaire and checking the grade assigned according to the performance of the student, the pupils can see the correct response displayed on the screen and widely explained by the professors. This represents a 10% of the final grade. As the student can access the questionnaires as many times as they want, the main goal is the self-assessment of each learning objective and therefore, getting the students involved in their own learning process so they can decide how much time they need to acquire the required level

[EN] In this study we describe a project that implements an exchange tool, specifically a Social and Complementary Currency, in teaching area. The aim, with a series of questions before and after the currency uses, is to asses whether they have met a series of objectives that we have already set. And it will help us to know if it has potential as a teaching tool. These objectives cover different areas, some of them are social (to improve the relationship between students), other academic ( increase financial literacy and motivation) and others to promote individual initiative and decision making. We will check, taking into account a number of limitations, how this tool will achieve most of the proposed objectives and we will get a guide for future researches.[ES] En esta investigación se describe un proyecto en el que se pone en práctica una herramienta de intercambio en el entorno educativo, en concreto una Moneda Social y Complementaria. A 86 years-old woman was admitted in Internal Medicine with vomiting, weight loss and abdominal pain and parasite expulsion. Physical examination showed a bad general condition without other findings. Laboratory tests showed leucocytosis with eosinophilia (12.4%). The scanner showed an infiltrative pancreatic mass with peritoneal carcinomatosis. Microbiogical analysis showed an Ascaris lumbricoides. The patient was treated with mebendazole during 3 days. Unfortunately, due to age and comorbidities, the patient died in a few months.

Real-time lossless compression of multibeam echosounder water column data

    Get PDF
Multibeam echosounders can generate vast amounts of data when recording the complete water column, which poses logistic, economic and technical challenges. Lossy data compression can reduce data size up to one or two orders of magnitude, but often at the expense of significant image distortion. Lossless compression ratios tend to be modest and at a high computing cost. In this work we test a high-performance data compression algorithm, FAPEC, initially developed for Space data communications with low computing requirements. FAPEC provides good compression ratios and supports tailored pre-processing stages. Here we show its advantages over standard and high-end lossless compression solutions currently available, both in terms of ratios and speedR+D work on FAPEC is supported by the ESA Business Incubation Programme through Barcelona Activa, by the MINECO (Spanish Ministry of Economy) – FEDER through grants ESP2014-55996-C2-1-R, AYA2014-59084-P and MDM-2014-0369 of ICCUB (Unidad de Excelencia ‘María de Maeztu’), and by the AGAUR. Case report: Self-administration of alpha-1 antitrypsin therapy: a report of two cases

    Get PDF
Intravenous augmentation therapy with human alpha-1 proteinase inhibitor for the management of respiratory disease is recommended for people with alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD) who are nonsmokers or former smokers. Augmentation therapy usually requires weekly administration at the hospital or clinic and poses an additional burden for patients due to interference with daily life, including work and social activities. Self-administration is a useful alternative to overcome this limitation, but there is a lack of published information on clinical outcomes. We report two cases of individuals with AATD at different stages of the disease who were successfully managed with self-administered augmentation therapy, with increased satisfaction because of the independence gained, lack of interference with clinical stability, and no relevant safety issues

Association of polyps with early-onset colorectal cancer and throughout surveillance: Novel clinical and molecular implications

Early-onset colorectal cancer (EOCRC) is an increasing and worrisome entity. The aim of this study was to analyze its association with polyps concerning prognosis and surveillance. EOCRC cases were compared regarding the presence or absence of associated polyps (clinical and molecular features), during a minimum of 7 years of follow-up. Of 119 cases, 56 (47%) did not develop polyps (NP group), while 63 (53%) did (P group). The NP group showed a predominant location of the CRC in the rectum (50%), of sporadic cases (54%), and diagnosis at advanced stages: Only P53 and SMARCB1 mutations were statistically linked to this group. The P group, including mainly early-diagnosed tumors, was linked with the most frequent and differential altered chromosomal regions in the array comparative genomic hybridization. The two most frequent groups according to the follow-up were the NP group (40%), and patients developing polyps in the first 5 years of follow-up (P 5FU) showed a mucinous component (50%). Our results show that the absence or presence of polyps in EOCRC is an important prognostic factor with differential phenotypes. The development of polyps during surveillance shows that it is necessary to extend the follow-up time, also in those cases with microsatellite-stable EOCRCThis work was funded by the Spanish Ministry of Health and ConsumerA airs and FEDER, grant number PI10/00683 and PI16/01650 to J.P.G., PI16/01920 to R.G.S., and PI14/00459 to M.U., and by the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, grant number R01 CA72851, CA18172, CA184792 and U01 CA187956 to A.G
