This paper proposes to overcome the limitations observed in state-of-the-art unambiguous estimation techniques based on the application of existing direct positioning techniques and the exploitation of the spatial diversity introduced by arrays of antennas.     Tratamiento de las fracturas de la extremidad proximal del fémur con el clavo Claufitt

    El objetivo de este trabajo fue la valoración de los resultados con el clavo Claufitt en pacientes afectados de fracturas en la extremidad proximal del fémur. Desde octubre de 1997 hasta enero de 2000 fueron tratados en nuestro Servicio 103 pacientes con este implante, 73 pacientes (73 fracturas) fueron controlados durantes su estancia hospitalaria y mensualmente hasta el sexo mes postintervención. Se consiguió la consolidación de la fractura en 72 casos, apareciendo un 11% de complicaciones postoperatorias. Tres casos de migración superior de los tornillos proximales en la articulación de la cadera, fueron las complicaciones más importantes. Las complicaciones interoperatorias fueron atribuidas a errores técnicos. El porcentaje de complicaciones postoperatorias fue similar al de las series publicadas con el clavo Gamma, necesitando mejorar el sistema de bloqueo proximal para evitar las protrusiones en el cotilo.The objective of this work was to assess to clinical results with the Claufitt nail in the treatment of fractures of the proximal femur. From Octover 1997 to January 2000, 103 patients were treated with this implant, 73 patients (73 fractures) were studied during their hospital stay and followed up monthly at 6 months. Consolidation of the fracture occurred in 72 cases, the incidence of per operative complications was 11% and there were 11% postoperative complications. Three cases of superior cut out the proximal screws, three shaft fractures and two cases of screw penetration to hip joint were the most important complications. Per operative complications were attributable to technical errors. We had a percentage of postoperative complications similar to Gamma nail series, needing to improve the proximal lock screw system to avoid hip penetration

    Macroscopic QED for quantum nanophotonics: Emitter-centered modes as a minimal basis for multiemitter problems

    We present an overview of the framework of macroscopic quantum electrodynamics from a quantum nanophotonics perspective. Particularly, we focus our attention on three aspects of the theory that are crucial for the description of quantum optical phenomena in nanophotonic structures. First, we review the light-matter interaction Hamiltonian itself, with special emphasis on its gauge independence and the minimal and multipolar coupling schemes. Second, we discuss the treatment of the external pumping of quantum optical systems by classical electromagnetic fields. Third, we introduce an exact, complete, and minimal basis for the field quantization in multiemitter configurations, which is based on the so-called emitter-centered modes.     Municipal water demand forecasting: Tools for intervention time series

    This article introduces some approaches to common issues arising in real cases of water demand prediction. Occurrences of negative data gathered by the network metering system and demand changes due to closure of valves or changes in consumer behavior are considered. Artificial neural networks (ANNs) have a principal role modeling both circumstances. First, we propose the use of ANNs as a tool to reconstruct any anomalous time series information. Next, we use what we call interrupted neural networks (I-NN) as an alternative to more classical intervention ARIMA models. Besides, the use of hybrid models that combine not only the modeling ability of ARIMA to cope with the time series linear part, but also to explain nonlinearities found in their residuals, is proposed.     Open access repositories as channel of publication scientific grey literature

    This is the presentation of the paper entitled “Open access repositories as channel of publication scientific grey literature” in the TEEM 2015 International Conference held in Porto (Portugal) in October 7-9, 2015. In this paper we describe how the open access repositories are valid channels for the publication of scientific grey literature. Technological development facilitates the communication of scientific knowledge, allowing expand distribution channels and significantly reducing transmission costs of the investigation. There are new paradigms of scientific communication such as open access repositories that must be exploited to provide academic and research free content, so that the scientific production is globally accessible to society. The aim of this study is to report the benefits of scientific communication model through open access repositories, especially the benefits for scientific grey literature, using as an example the theses deposited in open access and distributed through GREDOS, Institutional Repository of the University of Salamanca. We present the fundamentals, the state of the art, trends and benefits of open access, understood as a radical change in the system of scientific communication. Open Access repositories are a new way to disseminate scientific grey literature so that this literature can achieve maximum dissemination and visibility, increasing the rate of citation. Currently the movement for open access is sufficiently consolidated. Repositories are a key element in the development of this movement, offering multiple benefits, like visibility and citation, to authors, institutions and the general public. Doctoral theses disseminated through the repositories increase their use, visibility and consequently their rate of citation, while contributing to the public good

Preferentemente, dicho antígeno heterólogo se encuentra en el extremo amino terminal de la CP modificada de PPV. En una realización concreta se describe la construcción de un sistema de presentación de un epítopo inmunológicamente activo derivado de la proteína VP2 del parvovirus canino (CPV). Estos sistemas de presentación de antígenos tienen utilidad en diagnóstico y vacunas.Peer reviewe

    Implementación de algoritmos meméticos con capacidad de auto-generación sobre CouchBD

    Los algoritmos meméticos constituyen un paradigma de optimización basado en la explotación sistemática del conocimiento acerca del problema que se desea resolver y de la combinación de ideas tomadas de diferentes metaheurísticas, tanto basadas en población como basadas en búsqueda local. Como la mayoría de los algoritmos evolutivos, los meméticos también han sido usados para resolver problemas de optimización en el campo de la Inteligencia Artificial, gracias a su capacidad de explorar espacios de búsqueda complejos en tiempos razonables. En este artículo se presenta una propuesta de implementación de algoritmos multimeméticos (esto es, algo- ritmos meméticos con capacidad de auto-generar las estrategias de búsqueda local) que emplea el sistema de Base de Datos CouchDB para manejar poblaciones persistentes y se hace un análisis del rendimiento que muestran estos algoritmos al resolver algunos problemas de optimización.Universidad de Málaga.
