Transformación de una escuela en una escuela cooperativa: historia de un proyecto intercultural

El artículo revisa el proceso de creación y los principales elementos que se han tenido en cuenta para transformar un centro escolar concreto, perteneciente a la ciudad de Valencia (España) con un significativamente alto índice de alumnado inmigrante, en un centro escolar con un proyecto cooperativo, mostrando con ello las principales virtudes y obstáculos hallados en dicho proceso, al tiempo que ayuda a reflexionar y a concluir con futuras propuestas de trabajo para mejorar el proyecto iniciado

Fracture resistance and failure mode of posterior fixed dental prostheses fabricated with two zirconia CAD/CAM systems

Background: In recent years there has been an improvement of zirconia ceramic materials to replace posterior missing teeth. To date little in vitro studies has been carried out on the fracture resistance of zirconia veneered posterior fixed dental prostheses. This study investigated the fracture resistance and the failure mode of 3-unit zirconia-based posterior fixed dental prostheses fabricated with two CAD/CAM systems. Material and Methods: Twenty posterior fixed dental prostheses were studied. Samples were randomly divided into two groups (n=10 each) according to the zirconia ceramic analyzed: Lava and Procera. Specimens were loaded until fracture under static load. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon ́s rank sum test and Wilcoxon ́s signed-rank test ( P <0.05). Results: Partial fracture of the veneering porcelain occurred in 100% of the samples. Within each group, significant differences were shown between the veneering and the framework fracture resistance ( P =0.002). The failure occurred in the connector cervical area in 80% of the cases. Conclusions: All fracture load values of the zirconia frameworks could be considered clinically acceptable. The connector area is the weak point of the restoration

Evaluation of Enzyme Additives on the Nutritional Use of Feeds with a High Content of Plant Ingredients for Mugil cephalus

The Mugilidae are a group of fish with a great interest for aquaculture due to their omnivorous profile, rapid growth, and resistance to environmental variations. The selection of feed ingredients for these species is currently focused on an extensive use of plant by-products, with this being limited by their content in anti-nutritive factors (mainly phytate and non-starch polysaccharides; NSPs). Nevertheless, specific enzymes can be used to counteract some of those negative effects. In the present study, the effect of pretreating two high-plant feeds with a mixture of enzymes (glucanases + phytase) on the digestive use of protein and phosphorus by juvenile mullets (Mugil cephalus) was assessed using both in vitro and in vivo assays. The enzymatic treatment significantly modified the potential bioavailability of some nutrients, such as a reduction of sugars, pentoses, and phytic phosphorus. Also, it increased the digestibility of protein in one of the feeds but reduced that of phosphorus in both of them. A New Multi-Objective Approach for Molecular Docking Based on RMSD and Binding Energy

Ligand-protein docking is an optimization problem based on predicting the position of a ligand with the lowest binding energy in the active site of the receptor. Molecular docking problems are traditionally tackled with single-objective, as well as with multi-objective approaches, to minimize the binding energy. In this paper, we propose a novel multi-objective formulation that considers: the Root Mean Square Deviation (RMSD) difference in the coordinates of ligands and the binding (intermolecular) energy, as two objectives to evaluate the quality of the ligand-protein interactions. To determine the kind of Pareto front approximations that can be obtained, we have selected a set of representative multi-objective algorithms such as NSGA-II, SMPSO, GDE3, and MOEA/D. Their performances have been assessed by applying two main quality indicators intended to measure convergence and diversity of the fronts. In addition, a comparison with LGA, a reference single-objective evolutionary algorithm for molecular docking (AutoDock) is carried out. In general, SMPSO shows the best overall results in terms of energy and RMSD (value lower than 2A for successful docking results). This new multi-objective approach shows an improvement over the ligand-protein docking predictions that could be promising in in silico docking studies to select new anticancer compounds for therapeutic targets that are multidrug resistant.Universidad de Málaga. An opportunity for the improvement of higher education through the information and communication technologies

Nowadays, e-learning, teleformation, or training based on ICT (Information and Communication Technologies), play a fundamental role in the improvement of the learning processes that is taking place at the Universities. On the one hand, the incorporation of the ICT in a face-to-face, distance or blended modality and, on the other hand, the European convergence process, have influenced on the change and improvement of the institution, in general, and the teaching leaming process developed in Higher Education, in particular. Nevertheless, it could be necessary to remark that the basic objective is to improve the attention of the users (in our case, students of Education Sciences). Another important aim is to optimize the resources based on Internet. But, mainly, in order to promote innovating processes which simplify and make agile not only the work of the teaching staff and students but also the communication among them. Valoración de la experiencia piloto de adaptación al ECTS en la asignatura Gestión Financiera en el Sector Turístico I

En este trabajo exponemos nuestra propuesta de plan docente adaptado al sistema europeo de créditos ECTS y la valoración de la experiencia piloto de la Diplomatura en Turismo de la Escuela Universitaria de Estudios Empresariales de la Universidad de Sevilla, tanto por parte de las profesoras que impartimos la asignatura como de los alumnos, al objeto de determinar el grado de satisfacción de las necesidades y expectativas de aprendizaje del nuevo modelo docente.In this work we expose our educational plan adapted to the European Credit Transfer System, ECTS, and the evaluation of the pilot experience of the Diploma in Tourism in the Business Studies University School (University of Seville), so much on the part of the teachers that we give the subject as of the students, in order to determine the degree of satisfaction of the needs and expectations of learning of the new educational model
