Recursos sociales y recursos científicos en la explicación de los materiales etnográficos. Retrospectiva sobre una investigación de la prejubilación de los mineros asturianos

In this article there is analyzed the form in which the social relations between the investigated subjects and the investigators influence the arguments used in the ethnographic texts. The qualitative investigations cannot advance without paying the social price that has facilitated the understanding of the studied phenomena. The argumentation includes then rhetorical dimensions, which must be considered throughout all the investigation. In this text some moments of the ethnographic argumentation are reviewed in an investigation about the early retirement of the Asturian miners.En este artículo se analiza la forma en la que las relaciones sociales entre los sujetos investigados y los investigadores influyen en los argumentos utilizados en los textos etnográficos. Las investigaciones cualitativas no pueden avanzar sin pagar el precio social que ha facilitado la comprensión de los fenómenos estudiados. La argumentación incluye entonces dimensiones retóricas, que deben tenerse en cuenta a lo largo de toda la investigación. En el texto que se propone se revisan algunos momentos de la argumentación etnográfica, en una investigación sobre la prejubilación de los mineros asturianos

Estudio que investiga la consideración moral que una comunidad minera de Galicia tiene de los mineros prejubilados que acceden a otro tipo de trabajos remunerados. Se llega a la conclusión de que el valor moral de estas actividades está basado sobre todo en una práctica ancestral y de arraigo en el conceo de tal manera que no está mal visto el trabajo en explotaciones ganaderas pero sí en otro tipo de trabajos (electricista, fontanero..)

The first publications out of the Spanish Ethnographic Survey of the Section of Moral and Political Sciences from the Ateneo of Madrid about customs on birth, marriage and death are one hundred years old. The survey, just in the midway between folklore and anthropology, became an heritage utilized to set boundaries and scientific identities which still have a truly effect today. For this reason, following the development of writtings out of the survey, this essay reflects on the value of the patrimonialization of scientific knowledge, and it shows up that this is a necessary condition for the progress of social sciences beyond some particular rethoric usages

La construcción discursiva de la mala fama de la prejubilación entre los mineros. Imágenes de rechazo y hechos del contexto social.

En este artículo se analiza el contexto y los procesos discursivos de elaboración de la categoría colectiva de prejubilado en la minería asturiana. Se parte de la indefinición legal y, consecuentemente, social de esta figura y se estudia el proceso discursivo de construcción de la mala fama como una forma de dar contenido a un colectivo social nuevo y de difícil aceptación social. A diferencia de otros discursos que circulan sobre el particular, los de la mala fama son retóricos tanto en su elaboración como en su uso social. Su valor performativo contribuye a integrar socialmente a unos sujetos que se definen por una utilización peculiar del tiempo, carente de la mayor parte de las obligaciones sociales prescritas, que les vinculaban a la comunidad durante su vida laboral.This article analyzes the context and the discursive process by which the collective category of the early retiree is constructed in Asturian mining communities. Departing from the legal ambiguity and hence social ambiguity of these personages and status the essay studies the discursive construction of ill repute in respect to them and as a way of giving meaning to a newly created social collective difficult both to define and accept in normal social interaction. Differently than other discourses that circulate about ill repute in respect to the individuals, those concerning the collective category are rhetorical in their construction and in their social use. Their performative value contributes to the social integration and meaning of a defamed category of persons who are basically defined by their unusual use of time and by their lacking in fulfillment of the prescribed social obligations that would normally bind them to their community throughout their working lives

The utilization and reutilization of the culture and the construction of the cultural patrimony in the processes of social intervention

Partiendo de la consideración de la cultura como conjunto de recursos disponibles, se plantea la intervención cultural como un proceso de cambio que se sitúa en el camino que va de la utilización a la reutilización de esos recursos. Se analizan dos procesos de intervención diferentes en un mismo poblado minero: el que planifica y ejecuta la empresa minera que lo construyó, a finales del siglo pasado, en el momento de la implantación de las industrias mineras en las cuencas centrales asturianas y el que están llevando a cabo actualmente las autoridades políticas con la intención de hacer del poblado un bien patrimonial y turístico, en el contexto de la arqueología industrial. Se trata de dos intervenciones totalmente diferentes, y se analiza su desigual resultado como una consecuencia de la forma como, en cada una de ellas, se articulan los discursos y las prácticas institucionales que los acompañan.In agreement with the consideration of culture as set of available resources, the cultural intervention is regarded as a process of change placed between the utilization and the reutilization of these resources. This article discusses two different intervention processes in the same mining settlement: the one planned and executed by the mining company that built it, at the end of last century, during the implantation of the mining industries in the asturian central basins, and the other one carried out nowadays by the political authorities, with the intention of making of the settlement a patrimonial and tourist good, in the context of the industrial archaeology. They are two totally different interventions, as consequence of the form as, in each of them, are articulated the discourses and the institutional practices that accompany them
