    This article studies the conditions in the cells of the Court of the Inquisition in Cordova: the secrets cells, those for life imprisonment, the family cells and those for women. The bad conditions of the premises and the appalling living conditions of ministers and prisoners were generalized. This was due, to a large extent, to the carelessness of the Inquisition in regard to alleviating the architectural collapse of the site, to the misappropriation of the funds aimed at its maintenance, to its inconsistent renovation and to the understanding of what a jail should be at that time. All this shows a discouraging panorama which produced widespread disease among the prisoners and reactions such as escaping, refusing to eat, pretending to be mad, trying to commit suicide and, finally, their death

    Discrimination of milks with a multisensor system based on layer-by-layer films

    Producción CientíficaA nanostructured electrochemical bi-sensor system for the analysis of milks has been developed using the layer-by-layer technique. The non-enzymatic sensor [CHI+IL/CuPcS]2, is a layered material containing a negative film of the anionic sulfonated copper phthalocyanine (CuPcS) acting as electrocatalytic material, and a cationic layer containing a mixture of an ionic liquid (IL) (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate) that enhances the conductivity, and chitosan (CHI), that facilitates the enzyme immobilization. The biosensor ([CHI+IL/CuPcS]2-GAO) results from the immobilization of galactose oxidase on the top of the LbL layers. FTIR, UV–vis, and AFM have confirmed the proposed structure and cyclic voltammetry has demonstrated the amplification caused by the combination of materials in the film. Sensors have been combined to form an electronic tongue for milk analysis. Principal component analysis has revealed the ability of the sensor system to discriminate between milk samples with different lactose content. Using a PLS-1 calibration models, correlations have been found between the voltammetric signals and chemical parameters measured by classical methods. PLS-1 models provide excellent correlations with lactose content. Additional information about other components, such as fats, proteins, and acidity, can also be obtained.     Multi-agent simulations for emergency situations in an airport scenario

    This paper presents a multi-agent framework using Net- Logo to simulate humanand collective behaviors during emergency evacuations. Emergency situationappears when an unexpected event occurs. In indoor emergency situation, evacuation plans defined by facility manager explain procedure and safety ways tofollow in an emergency situation. A critical and public scenario is an airportwhere there is an everyday transit of thousands of people. In this scenario theimportance is related with incidents statistics regarding overcrowding andcrushing in public buildings. Simulation has the objective of evaluating buildinglayouts considering several possible configurations. Agents could be based onreactive behavior like avoid danger or follow other agent, or in deliberative behaviorbased on BDI model. This tool provides decision support in a real emergencyscenario like an airport, analyzing alternative solutions to the evacuationprocess.Publicad

    Cross-country macroeconomic heterogeneity in EMU

    The objective of this paper is to explore the size and normative implications of macroeconomic discrepancies between EMU countries. Available data and empirical work show that EMU countries display noticeable heterogeneity in terms of economic development, exposure to shocks and adjustment mechanisms. But this does not seem to prevent a relatively high degree of similarity in their cyclical patterns. And the remaining discrepancies do not seem much influenced by monetary and exchange rate policies. Indeed, EMU makes a limited difference in terms of the cross country effects of common shocks. It may nevertheless have an influence on the ability of countries to absorb idiosyncratic shocks. The problem is therefore not a deficit of homogeneity so much as a possible deficit of flexibility for each economy to adjust smoothly to country specific developments

    La geometría de visualización afecta el dicromatismo sexual y la conspicuidad de la coloración del plumaje no iridiscente de Tersina viridis

    Some types of plumage color are difficult to characterize spectrophotometrically because the properties of the reflected light change with viewing geometry (i.e. the relative positions of the light source and the observer, and the orientation of the feather). This is the case for the noniridescent plumage coloration of the Swallow Tanager (Tersina viridis), which seems to change from a human perspective as the angle between the light source and the observer varies. In this study, we measured plumage reflectance with different angles of illumination and/or observation, and used avian visual models to evaluate the change in sexual dichromatism and conspicuousness with viewing geometry from a bird’s perspective. We also calculated different color parameters to assess how these changed with viewing conditions. Sexual dichromatism showed large changes, with its maximum coinciding with the angle combination between illuminant and observer that produced both the highest conspicuousness for males and the highest crypsis for females. The conspicuousness of males also varied with viewing geometry, and was consistently less when viewed by the visual system of a potential avian predator (VS) than by that of a conspecific (UVS). The change in perceived coloration was mainly related to large variation in hue and chroma in the plumage of males as the relative angle between the illumination and observation probes changed. Our results show that viewing geometry can alter color perception, even for noniridescent plumage coloration. Therefore, the relative position of the light source and the observer should be considered in studies of avian visual communication, particularly for species with plumage coloration similar to that of Swallow Tanagers.Algunos tipos de colores del plumaje son difíciles de caracterizar espectrofotometricamente debido a que las propiedades de la luz que reflejada varían con la geometría de visualización (es decir, la posición relativa de la fuente lumínica, el observador y la pluma). Este es el caso de la coloración no-iridiscente de la Tersina viridis, que parece cambiar desde la perspectiva humana al modificarse el ángulo conformado entre el observador y la fuente de luz. En este trabajo medimos la reflectancia del plumaje con diferentes ángulos de iluminación y/o observación y empleamos modelos visuales avianos para evaluar el cambio en dicromatismo sexual y conspicuidad. Tambien calculamos parámetros descriptores de la coloración para determinar cómo cambian estos en función de la geometría de visualización. El dicromatismo sexual mostró una amplia variación, siendo máximo con la combinación de ángulos entre iluminante y observador que también produjo el máximo de conspicuidad en los machos y el máximo de cripsis en las hembras. La conspicuidad de los machos tambien varió con la geometría de visualización y además fue consistentemente menor para sistemas visuales avianos menos sensibles al UV (como los de los máximos potenciales predadores de esta especie) que para sus conspecíficos, que serían más sensibles a longitudes de onda del UV. El cambio percibido en la coloración estuvo principalmente relacionado a una gran variación en el tono y la saturación en el plumaje de los machos al cambiar el ángulo conformado entre la fuente lumínica y el observador. Nuestros resultados muestran que la geometría de visualización puede alterar la percepción del color, a un en plumajes no-iridiscentes. Por lo tanto, es importante considerar la posición relativa de la fuente de luz y el observador en estudios de comunicación visual en aves, particularmente en especies con coloración del plumaje como la de la Tersina viridis.Fil: Barreira, Ana Soledad.     Solar Ultraviolet Irradiance Characterization under All Sky Conditions in Burgos, Spain

    Solar Ultraviolet Radiation (UVR), which is identified as a major environmental health hazard, is responsible for a variety of photochemical reactions with direct effects on urban and aquatic ecosystems, human health, plant growth, and the deterioration of industrial systems. Ground measurements of total solar UVR are scarce, with low spatial and temporal coverage around the world, which is mainly due to measurement equipment maintenance costs and the complexities of equipment calibration routines; however, models designed to estimate ultraviolet rays from global radiation measurements are frequently used alternatives. In an experimental campaign in Burgos, Spain, between September 2020 and June 2022, average values of the ratio between horizontal global ultraviolet irradiance (GHUV) and global horizontal irradiance (GHI) were determined, based on measurements at ten-minute intervals. Sky cloudiness was the most influential factor in the ratio, more so than any daily, monthly, or seasonal pattern. Both the CIE standard sky classification and the clearness index were used to characterize the cloudiness conditions of homogeneous skies. Overcast sky types presented the highest values of the ratio, whereas the clear sky categories presented the lowest and most dispersed values, regardless of the criteria used for sky classification.     Photosynthetic active radiation, solar irradiance and the CIE standard sky classification

    Plant growth is directly related to levels of photosynthetic photon flux density, Qp. The improvement of plant-growth models therefore requires accurate estimations of the Qp parameter that is often indirectly calculated on the basis of its relationship with solar irradiation, RS, due to the scarcity of ground measurements of photosynthetic photon flux density. In this experimental campaign in Burgos, Spain, between April 2019 and January 2020, an average value of the Qp/Rs ratio is determined on the basis of measurements at ten-minute intervals. The most influential factor in the Qp/Rs ratio, over and above any daily or seasonal pattern, is the existence of overcast sky conditions. The CIE standard sky classification can be used to establish an unequivocal characterization of the cloudiness conditions of homogeneous skies. In this study, the relation between the CIE standard sky type and Qp/Rs is investigated. Its conclusions were that the Qp/Rs values, the average of which was 1.93 0.15 mol J�����1, presented statistically significant di erences for each CIE standard sky type. The overcast sky types presented the highest values of the ratio, while the clear sky categories presented the lowest and most dispersed values. During the experimental campaign, only two exceptions were noted for covered and partial covered sky-type categories, respectively, sky types 5 and 9. Their values were closer to those of categories classified as clear sky according to the CIE standard.     ¿Para qué las "soluciones" de la organización escuela?

    Intentamos dar forma a experiencias, lecturas y testimonios que nos ayuden a encontrar un acercamiento a algunos aspectos, de los innumerables, que hacen a la complejidad que vive la escuela argentina hoy. Analizar a la escuela como “organización” es situarla en un lugar y en un tiempo determinado, con relativa autonomía y “atravesada” – como toda organización – por las instituciones de la sociedad. Esa permeabilidad pone límites a la posibilidad de la organización de darse sus propias normas y necesitará compatibilizar con las “instituídas” socialmente. No se anula el potencial “instituyente” de la organización por el proceso de atravesamiento, ya que lo instituyente es una actividad de las organizaciones y los grupos que las integran, que da lugar al cambio de lo instituido. En el encuadre de la escuela como organización es que adquieren sentido los relatos de escuela. Estos relatos dan cuenta de la percepción que tienen los protagonistas, seres singulares en su contexto y su tiempo, del acontecer motivo de nuestro análisis.Jornadas realizadas junto con el I Encuentro Latinoamericano de Metodología de las Ciencias Sociales.Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias de la Educació
