The aim of this research is to analyse the pragmatic and linguistic elements which define this type of text (cartas de obligación). We focus our study on the analysis of the pragmatic features related to this type of notarial documents from 16th to 18th centuries. They belong to the same historical and discourse traditions (Diskurstraditionen). On the one hand, we pay attention to the speech acts (especially, illocutionary acts). On the other hand, we focus our study on the analysis of the pragmatic and linguistic changes in thus type of notarial texts (cartas de obligación) over time

RESUMEN: A partir de un artículo de opinión fi rmado por Ramín Jahanbegloo y publicado en el diario El País el 18 de noviembre de 2014 sobre la evolución de las democracias liberales desde la caída del Muro de Berlín, se realiza una propuesta integradora para el análisis de los procedimientos de coherencia que tiene en cuenta no solo las características del texto, sino todo el proceso comunicativo.ABSTRACT: The aim of this paper is to analyze the coherence in an op-ed, written by R. Jahanbengloo and published in the Spanish newspaper El País (18 November 2014), on the evolution of liberal democracies since the fall of the Berlin Wall. In the analysis we will study the specifi c characteristics of the text, as well as the whole communicative process

This is the case with referential coherence found in phrases such as: «el dicho día e mes e año susodicho», «la cual dicha donación», «el dicho Alonso Segovia», «la tal revocación», «la escriptura ya sitada», «el referido zercado». The aim of this paper is to analyze a corpus of Notarial documents that will contribute to the description of the phenomenon alongside the development of those structures as a cohesive resource of which the editor of documents will become increasingly conscious. Finally, we compare our results with those obtained from medieval documents as well as current legal documents in order to assess the adherence to tradition of this textual model and set some chronological stages in the development of the phenomenon

Search for intermediate-mass black hole binaries in the third observing run of Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo

International audienceIntermediate-mass black holes (IMBHs) span the approximate mass range 100−105 M⊙, between black holes (BHs) that formed by stellar collapse and the supermassive BHs at the centers of galaxies. Mergers of IMBH binaries are the most energetic gravitational-wave sources accessible by the terrestrial detector network. Searches of the first two observing runs of Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo did not yield any significant IMBH binary signals. In the third observing run (O3), the increased network sensitivity enabled the detection of GW190521, a signal consistent with a binary merger of mass ∼150 M⊙ providing direct evidence of IMBH formation. Here, we report on a dedicated search of O3 data for further IMBH binary mergers, combining both modeled (matched filter) and model-independent search methods. We find some marginal candidates, but none are sufficiently significant to indicate detection of further IMBH mergers. We quantify the sensitivity of the individual search methods and of the combined search using a suite of IMBH binary signals obtained via numerical relativity, including the effects of spins misaligned with the binary orbital axis, and present the resulting upper limits on astrophysical merger rates. Our most stringent limit is for equal mass and aligned spin BH binary of total mass 200 M⊙ and effective aligned spin 0.8 at 0.056 Gpc−3 yr−1 (90% confidence), a factor of 3.5 more constraining than previous LIGO-Virgo limits. We also update the estimated rate of mergers similar to GW190521 to 0.08 Gpc−3 yr−1.Key words: gravitational waves / stars: black holes / black hole physicsCorresponding author: W. NEOTROPICAL XENARTHRANS: a data set of occurrence of xenarthran species in the Neotropics

Xenarthrans—anteaters, sloths, and armadillos—have essential functions for ecosystem maintenance, such as insect control and nutrient cycling, playing key roles as ecosystem engineers. Because of habitat loss and fragmentation, hunting pressure, and conflicts with domestic dogs, these species have been threatened locally, regionally, or even across their full distribution ranges. The Neotropics harbor 21 species of armadillos, 10 anteaters, and 6 sloths. Our data set includes the families Chlamyphoridae (13), Dasypodidae (7), Myrmecophagidae (3), Bradypodidae (4), and Megalonychidae (2). We have no occurrence data on Dasypus pilosus (Dasypodidae). Regarding Cyclopedidae, until recently, only one species was recognized, but new genetic studies have revealed that the group is represented by seven species. In this data paper, we compiled a total of 42,528 records of 31 species, represented by occurrence and quantitative data, totaling 24,847 unique georeferenced records. The geographic range is from the southern United States, Mexico, and Caribbean countries at the northern portion of the Neotropics, to the austral distribution in Argentina, Paraguay, Chile, and Uruguay. Regarding anteaters, Myrmecophaga tridactyla has the most records (n = 5,941), and Cyclopes sp. have the fewest (n = 240). The armadillo species with the most data is Dasypus novemcinctus (n = 11,588), and the fewest data are recorded for Calyptophractus retusus (n = 33). With regard to sloth species, Bradypus variegatus has the most records (n = 962), and Bradypus pygmaeus has the fewest (n = 12). Our main objective with Neotropical Xenarthrans is to make occurrence and quantitative data available to facilitate more ecological research, particularly if we integrate the xenarthran data with other data sets of Neotropical Series that will become available very soon (i.e., Neotropical Carnivores, Neotropical Invasive Mammals, and Neotropical Hunters and Dogs). Therefore, studies on trophic cascades, hunting pressure, habitat loss, fragmentation effects, species invasion, and climate change effects will be possible with the Neotropical Xenarthrans data set. Please cite this data paper when using its data in publications. We also request that researchers and teachers inform us of how they are using these data
