Trayectoria de vida y redes intelectuales en Luis Vitale: Argentina, Chile y el exilio
We propose to identify the political-intellectual trajectory of the historian Luis Vitale (1927-2010), through a biography that recognizes historical processes, debates and relevant intellectual networks, considering his experience as another manifestation within the Latin Americanist thought of the second half of the 20th century. We addressed their identity, formation and intellectual ties in Argentina until 1954. Then in Chile within the labor movement, until the military coup of 1973. The exile has been reconstructed by means of its correspondence, ending with the return to the country and the collaboration with intellectuals from the social movements of a new type. The result is a brief biography that aims to contribute to the enhancement of your personal file located at the University of Santiago. Gender wage gap. A complete view from Italy
Wage discrimination has been widely investigated so that I try to contribute to this strand of the literature showing if there is evidence to exist in Italy for the period from 2000 to 2012 by using panel data from SHIW. Moreover, I focus the investigation on the informal labour market but I also do on the formal one. To get this, I perform Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition model. The main goal of these estimates is observing whether the results change when I include a variable to control non-random selection processes. In accordance with this, I obtain that gender wage gap is larger among formal workers when I control for this correction term than when I do not control for it and smaller among informal workers. Finally, I perform a robustness check to observe how this discrimination affects in each part of the informal workers distribution
Astrophysical parameters and orbital solution of the peculiar X-ray transient IGR J00370+6122
BD+6073 is the optical counterpart of the X-ray source IGR J00370+6122, a
probable accretion-powered X-ray pulsar. The X-ray light curve of this binary
system shows clear periodicity at 15.7 d, which has been interpreted as
repeated outbursts around the periastron of an eccentric orbit. We obtained
high-resolution spectra of BD+6073 at different epochs. We used the FASTWind
code to generate a stellar atmosphere model to fit the observed spectrum and
obtain physical magnitudes. The synthetic spectrum was used as a template for
cross-correlation with the observed spectra to measure radial velocities. The
radial velocity curve provided an orbital solution for the system. We have also
analysed the RXTE/ASM and Swift/BAT light curves to confirm the stability of
the periodicity. BD +6073 is a BN0.7 Ib low-luminosity supergiant located at an
approximate distance of 3.1 kpc, in the CasOB4 association. We derive
Teff=24000 K and log gc=3.0, and chemical abundances consistent with a
moderately high level of evolution. The spectroscopic and evolutionary masses
are consistent at the 1 sigma level with a mass of 15 solar masses. The
recurrence time of the X-ray flares is the orbital period of the system. The NS
is in a high eccentricity (e=0.56) orbit, and the X-ray emission is strongly
peaked around orbital phase 0.2, though the observations are consistent with
some level of X-ray activity happening at all orbital phases. The X-ray
behaviour of IGR J00370+6122 is reminiscent of intermediate SFXTs, though its
peak luminosity is rather low. The orbit is somewhat wider than those of
classical persistent supergiant X-ray binaries, which, combined with the low
luminosity of the mass donor, explains the low X-ray luminosity. IGR
J00370+6122 will likely evolve towards a persistent supergiant system,
highlighting the evolutionary connection between different classes of
wind-accreting X-ray sources.Comment: Accepted for publication in A&

Correlation Analysis of High-Throughput Fruit Phenomics and Biochemical Profiles in Native Peppers (Capsicum spp.) from the Primary Center of Diversification
[Abstract] The main goal of this work was to investigate the relationship between the fruit morphology and biochemical composition of peppers (Capsicum spp.). For that purpose, one hundred native varieties from the Andean region, where the genus Capsicum has its origin, were analysed for different phytochemical compounds. In addition, pepper fruits were assessed with the highly precise phenomics tool Tomato Analyzer. The collection showed a broad variability which was more evident within the C. annuum group. On average, C. frutescens accessions displayed the highest levels of solid soluble content, pH, polyphenols and antioxidant activity. The Tomato Analyzer descriptors under the categories of size, shape index, and latitudinal section, mostly contributed to the variance among Capsicum groups. C. annuum hold the larger fruits, whereas C. frutescens comprised fruits of smaller sizes. The correlation analysis revealed that biochemical traits were negatively correlated with the fruit parameters related to size, suggesting that huger fruits contain lower amounts of chemical metabolites. The multivariate approximations demonstrated that Andean peppers assorted according to morphometric and colorimetric characteristics, but independently of their species or geographical origin. Groups of valuable native varieties carrying promising traits were identified.Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad; RTA2015-00042-C02-02Xunta de Galicia; ED431C 2018/57This research was funded by Spanish Institute for Agricultural and Food Research and Technology (INIA), co–financed by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER) (Project RTA2015-00042-C02-02), and by Xunta de Galicia (Project ED431C 2018/57
EFFECTS OF LOUVERS SHADING DEVICES ON VISUAL COMFORT AND ENERGY DEMAND OF AN OFFICE BUILDING. A CASE OF STUDY
This paper evaluates the building energy demand and visual comfort of a real case
with a glazed façade office building placed in Málaga (Mediterranean city in the south of
Spain). South oriented facades receive such a high solar gain that cooling demand cannot
be handled by the current HVAC system. As an environmental friendly solution, a shading
control strategy based on vertical and horizontal louvers is proposed.
The study consists of a comparison between the actual and the refurbished building
with shading devices. Daylighting simulation is done with Daysim (Daysim, 2016). A
group of offices with south, east and north oriented facades is chosen for the study. Horizontal
louvers in the south façade and vertical louvers in the east facade are modelled
and simulated. The simulation changes the angle of the louver: 0º (perpendicular to the
glazing), -30º, 30º, -60º, 60º. Visual comfort parameters analyzed are: illuminance, daylight
autonomy (DA) and useful daylight index (UDI). With respect to the thermal comfort,
not only louvers orientation try to provide solar protection for glazed areas in cooling
period but also maximize solar gains in heating period. However, an excessive daylight
could affect discomfort glare. Shading control strategy must provide the equilibrium
between both aspects. Thermal demand is calculated with Trnsys (TRNSYS, 2016).Universidad de Málaga.
